Matchday 6 of 2024/25’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) Fantasy kicks off on Tuesday evening and, as usual, we’ve got a team reveal from Louis/FPL Reactions – our resident European football expert who co-hosts the official UCL Fantasy podcast.

My plan all along has been to use my Wildcard this week, to attack the two upcoming Matchdays before activating Limitless in Matchday 8. Although Wildcarding isn’t as plain sailing as many would assume.

As well as having a huge, month-long gap between Matchdays 6 and 7 – where anything can happen – I also have debates over several players.

Do I jump off Leverkusen assets with tough fixtures ahead, taking current form into account? How tough of a fixture will Dortmund be for Barcelona assets? And how deeply do we invest in Arsenal, Liverpool and Stuttgart for their nice fixture runs?

All need taking into considering when building this Wildcard squad.

CURRENT TEAM

UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 team reveal:

To add more context as to why I’m using the chip this week, my current team is full of uncertain game time. Not only is this the case for both goalkeepers but there’s also Manchester City’s Rico Lewis (€4.8m), Dortmund’s Emre Can (€5.2m) and the injured Christian Pulisic (€7.5m). On top of that, most of the expected starters have tough-looking opponents.

The likes of Raphinha (€7.7m), Mateo Retegui (€5.3m), Florian Wirtz (€7.7m) and Erling Haaland (€11.0m) have served me well recently. Yet others have much better fixtures to target this week. Could backing against them bite me? Absolutely. But, as an aggressive manager, choosing to target the fixtures and shift funds elsewhere usually brings more success than failure.

So, let’s take a look at my current Wildcard draft. A lot can and probably will change from now until the deadline, of course, as UCL Fantasy is an ever-changing landscape.

Morning all. Woke up to see that my Enzo got 2 bps. Now where did those come from? He had 0 on Sunday.

Morning! Same here, thats a nice surprise. Strange thing that they change it this late this season

There’s a true up after all matches have been played this season, so there’s been a few instances of BPS getting updated later.

    Thoughts on my team?

    Sels - Slicker
    VVD - Porro - Davis - Collins - Hall
    Salah - Palmer - Saka - Bruno - Enzo
    Jackson - Evanilson - Raul

I have a tad too many points potentially on the bench tbh but don't mind it during Xmas period and I'm also preparing for BB so I'm fine with it for now.

There could be a case for Bruno to Amad and beef-up the defence? Otherwise it's a punchy squad, especially if you can get that defence going.

Yes I agree optimally but feel like the transfers aren't quite worth it right now. Want to see a bit more of Amorim's United!

Your 11 is good but you have the worst bench I've seen from anyone this season. If you have any FTs and money in the bank you need to upgrade your bench. You need a good bench more than ever in this busy Christmas period.

      Looks sensible.

Whats your plan with Bruno? I'm tempted to sell to fund Isak, but can see the point of just keeping him. Just don't trust United yet and I have a funny feeling he's going to get benched soon. He's no longer a 90 minute man anyway.

          Yeah

          He's still a class player

If you'd had him longer you'd be more patient

I was that way with Bowen a month ago

You need your new recruits to score early goals so you can ride out any blanks

It's some form of recency expectation bias in a roundabout way.

I dunno, he might get benched as they surely won't play Caicedo, Lavia and Enzo every week.

Also makes your team structure a bit weird if you're starting him, but obviously he's in a bit of form right now.

      1. Brosstan

With him as a starter it's easy to accept a 5.5 striker like raul/vardy as 8th, so benchings aren't that dangerous. 1 point cameos are the biggest fear but with Chelseas wealth of options I think that's unlikely with enzo

I think targeting Southampton is a bit of a recipe for disaster.

I did it too with Pedro captain a while back.

Should just stick with Palmer and Salah as captain choices.

Even Saka is hit and miss.

Same here actually! Pedro fail. Watkins fail. Third time lucky with Solanke....?

Yes Salah cap for sure I think I might get Solanke back though as I have zero funds with Watkins in and have 4 FT's so it's not really an issue.

Am I crazy for doing Cunha (IPS) to Isak (LEI) for a hit?

I am sick of Wolves, they look in freefall and Cunha's stats has dropped off a cliff. Ipswich look slightly better too.

Not crazy, I'm considering it too. For free I'd do it in a heartbeat but the hit gives me pause.

I’m in two minds on the same move. To be fair Cunha could/should have had 3 assists that his team mates wasted and could’ve easy had a pen too. Shame the team is so bad cos he’s a quality player

      For a hit I wouldn't do it.

Not worth a hit - of course could work out but negative expected value for sure

    2FT, 3.0 ITB, thoughts:

    Raya - Valdimarsson
    Gabriel - Ait-Nouri - Colwill - Greaves - Bednarek
    Salah - Palmer - Saka - Mbuemo - Rogers
Cunha - Joao Pedro - Strand Larsen

A: Greaves & Mbuemo to TAA & Enzo / Amad
B: Mbuemo & Strand Larsen to Enzo / Amad & Isak
    C: Roll

      B looks okay

Although I think that Mbuemo has a decent strike record against Chelsea so arguably he's a hold to play the next 2?

2 goals and 3 assists and a positive win record for Mbeumo and Brentford against Chelsea in the last 6.

Granted the next game looks tougher but perhaps we'll find out what Brentford are made of as a team.

      That’s Poch’s & managers teams before.

      Maresca’s Chelsea is a machine

On European weeks it's best to hold on early transfers, especially with £ itb.

      Good luck
