The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League (UCL) returns on Tuesday with Matchday 7 – and so does the competition’s official Fantasy game.

Here, Ed, another one of our resident European football doyens and a co-host of the official UCL Fantasy podcast, drops by to give us his team reveal, players to target and hypothetical Limitless draft.

You can get his weekly thoughts in more detail via a weekly UCL Fantasy newsletter.

It was another very average week for me in Matchday 6 with 66 points, continuing a frustrating start to this UCL season. I just have to remind myself that there are 17 Matchdays this season, meaning we’re less than halfway through. Lots of points left to play for.

Reckon Omar Marmoush comes straight into City's starting XI?

      unlikely
But will probably be a factor later in the season

Marmoush will be playing in a different system that dominates possession. He will get less space to attack and shoot.
Hopefully he adapts better than Grealish

    Sels Fabianski
    TAA Gabriel Timber Hall Castagne
    Salah Palmer Mbeumo Rogers Amad
    Isak Watkins Wood

    4ft
    0.3 itb

    A) Timber to Konate and bench Gabriel
    B) Anything else
    C) Save

My thinking is Liverpool have a double coming up and Ipswich before but Arsenal have Wolves who are poor at defending set pieces so benching Gabriel might not be the best idea

    Cheers

my team is fairly similar. No temptation to get any Palace players given their fixtures? Mitoma is interesting me also

Not really, I mean Mateta and Mitoma will probably score points but so will the players I have it's more the defence where we can't predict the points

Probably B given that even your bench is strong. The exception would be if you want Konate, but it sounds like you don't.

Is using AM chip on slot better or TC salah for gw24?

    1. Tonyawesome69
      • 7 Years
      1 year, 2 months ago

It's not the correct comparison to make here, it should be AM chip in 24-26 v 31-33 v 36-38 assuming you want to include DGW.

What are your other options? I believe the concensus is that TC 24 and AssM later is best option for TC "owners".

I think so. I’m about 75% sure I’m using the AM chip, and saving TC for a better DGW.

I would keep Fabianski fo ensure you have a GK in 29 (keep FH). Probably Alisson or Pickford as the Sanchez replacement

Right now it's selling Sanchez to Alisson, second Pickford, for obvious reasons.

    Comin off a shocking week. 3FT & 1.5ITB
    Sanchez (Fabianski)
    Gvardiol Hall Robinson (Mazraoui)(Greaves)
    Salah Bruno Gordon Palmer Amad
    Solanke Isak (Joao-Pedro)

    A. Gvardiol + Solanke - TAA + Gakpo
    B. Same as above but DCL instead of Gakpo and spread funds elsewhere

I mean, can we really consider Gakpo to be a DGW player? It seems very unlikely he plays two games

    1. Saka White Rice

Why if he's played every single game in the last 2 months and Jota is injured and Darwin is a liability and there's 11 days in between both games?

      1. Tonyawesome69
        • 7 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

Landscape may have change with Darwins goals and don't forget about Spurs 2nd leg and FAC against Plymouth in between the 2 league games

      2. GreennRed
        • 14 Years

Because Jota could be back for Everton game, Darwin will probably get some gametime.

        1. Saka White Rice
          • 11 Years
          1 year, 2 months ago

Yep, but not in the PL games and if Darwin starts it'll be ahead of Diaz not Gakpo. Even if Gakpo starts 3 of the next 4 that's great

    2. PartyTime
      • 4 Years

He won’t get full 90 in both. I think it’s a case of following one’s gut feeling, be it Diaz / Gakpo / Virgil / MacAllister etc.

If you had Watkins, would you keep as got nice 3 fixtures next but minutes maybe managed with CL.
Or would you get Mateta in? Did think about Gakpo but I think I’ve decided to go Alisson for 3rd Pool spot. Thanks

Will Liverpool have another DGW further down the line? Think a a fixture at anfield will make TC appealing than 2 away games in 24.

    I have now:
    Henderson
    Aina Gabriel Hall
    Salah Palmer Gordon Rogers
    Wood Isak Raul
    Fabianski, Robinson, Mbuemo, HB

    3 FTS 1.2 itb

    2 options for 23 GW:
    A) Gabriel + Raul → Mateta + Konate = 0,6 itb + 1 FTS
    B) Gabriel + Raul → Mateta + Munoz= 0,9 itb + 1 FTS
    C) Gabriel → TAA = 0,2 itb + 2 FTS
    D) Other

At 24 GW i go to TC Salah + 2 FTS on the future

Quite common for players/ agents agree to personal terms before two clubs agree a fee. In this instance, the fee is the problem.

      1. GreennRed

They can both play but if Malen gets a good share of attacking returns it could reduce Rogers share of FPL points.

    2. Sir Michael Taker
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 2 months ago

I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere but I'm assuming he can't play in Champions League, one because he wasnt in the initial squad and two because hes already played for Dortmund in it? If thats the case he could impact on Rogers or Ramsey or whoever in FPL because he'll be a fresher player for the league and presumably used ahead of more tired legs.

      1. Mother Farke
        • 2 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

I brought this up yesterday. I'm assuming Malen is cup-tied in the UCL until the next stage at the very least. Not 100% sure, though.

      2. Alan The Llama
        • 16 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

Point two, about being cup-tied, is moot.

You can't sign this window and play in the last two games of the group stages. Even if you haven't played for anyone else in the CL this season.

        1. GreennRed
          • 14 Years
          1 year, 2 months ago

He can't play in the last two CL League games and, as far as I know, can't play in qualifier two games. Which seems strange.

            • 16 Years
            1 year, 2 months ago

He can play in the qualifier/knock-out games which come next.

Can clubs change their squads again this season?

Yes, if they get through the league phase. Ahead of the knockout phase, clubs can register a maximum of three new players by 24:00 CET on 6 February 2025.

Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or league phase of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.

Cheers Alan. Kvaratskhelia will be eligible for qualifiers too.

1 FT and 5m ITB. Not sure whether to attack LIV fixtures with Trent...

    A - Castagne > TAA (bench Milenk)
    B - Roll FT

    Allison
    Gabriel - Milenkovic - Munoz
    Salah - Palmer - Gordon - Sarr
    Isak - Wood - Raul

    Dubravka - Amad - Castagne - O'Shea

Bench dilemma for next GW. Pick one defender and attacker:

    1) Munoz (BRE)
    2) Robinson (MUN)

    a) Sarr (BRE)
    b) Wissa (cry)

    Anyone thinking of keeping Jackson?
If not, Gakpo is the obvious replacement, right?

      Not keeping him. Wood/Mateta/Gakpo

nah, patience exceeded, Mateta in Jackson out 😉
(but If you are targeting double and need pool assets, yes go for gapko)

Thanks, which Liverpool players do you have?
I only have Salah/Trent and I think Gakpo is a better choice than Alisson/Konate.
