Great answer to the Wood question. I'd bet people won't like it though.

      I'll be holding Wood...

... however if I had looked at my plan going forward & come to the conclusion I don't need the to play him much etc, I'd also sell.

In BGW29 (IPS) I'll 100% play him. Everyone will, or will want to have him - so you gotta consider your plan for that week/leading up to it.

In my situation, I can genuinely afford/plan to bench him most weeks until I wildcard (looking like it might be GW32 for me).

Would I necessarily recommend benching Wood every week like I am doing? Probably no - but it's akin to selling him, hence why don't think a sale is awful. (For me he just is a great 1st bench/potential starter.)

        Nothing wrong with that.
I was mostly referring to the point he made about his ownership. Those who are ranked poorly will have to take on the template somewhere.
I don't think Amad will outscore Rogers by 50+ points or viceversa. Same for Dango vs. Kluivert, Kerkez vs Hall vs Robinson or whatever differentials most got.
If you look at the top 100k template and you have 9-10 of them while you're ranked 1m(which is close to 100 points difference), you're basically shooting yourself in the leg.

    Play Aina over Robinson?

Plan is to FH in BGW 29, then BB in DGW 33, then assman in 36-38.

    Sels
    VVD Mykolenko Aina
    Salah(TC) Palmer Gordon Mbuemo
    Gakpo Isak Wood

    Matthews Robinson Winks Faes

"double for Spurs in Gameweek 25. This would be dependent on them qualifying for the UEFA Europa League last eight and also progression past Liverpool in the Carabao Cup"

Shouldn't that read "Top 8 in Europa table" ?

    Who to play?

    A) Hall, Fulham home. CS and assist potential
    B) Gabriel, Man city home. No need for explanation.

Others are TAA and Mykolenko, Neco Williams benched.

And that makes paying 70 (seventy!) million for Watkins alright, does it?

        1. Qaiss
          • 9 Years

Yes but why pile on when it’s Arsenal?

Teams like Man Utd, Chelsea, PSG have been ruining the market for years

    2. Qaiss
      • 9 Years
      10 months, 9 days ago

Of all the transfers that have happened in the last 8 years since Neymar moved to PSG for that ridiculous fee, a player with 19 goals and 13 assists in the league last season moving for £70m is where the game is gone

If he was 2 years younger, he’d be worth that in the market now

      1. Andy_Social
        • 13 Years
        10 months, 9 days ago

Game went long ago. I think it's as simple as Arsenal need a striker and there are almost none available.

        1. Qaiss
          • 9 Years
          10 months, 9 days ago

I do agree. The quality of elite players a decade ago was far superior to now

Some say it’s nostalgia though but I don’t agree with that. However, with the money in the premier league now, clubs don’t let their players leave for a reasonable fee anymore

          1. x.jim.x
            • 11 Years
            10 months, 9 days ago

A decade ago, you had the likes of Suarez, Aguero, Costa, Kane, Alexis and Lukaku all ripping up the league together. Even Rooney was still knocking them in around 2014.

Now it's basically only Haaland and Isak who are really world class 9s.

      2. x.jim.x
        • 11 Years
        10 months, 9 days ago

19 goals 13 assists last season
10 goals 5 assists this season so far
Playing for a Champions League rival
        Premier League proven and English
Villa just sold their backup striker
        Window shuts tomorrow

It's too cheap if anything. No chance Villa would be able to replace him without getting absolutely bent over.

        1. Qaiss
          • 9 Years
          10 months, 9 days ago

Think the window shuts on February 3rd and yeah, £75/80m is probably a reasonable fee for those reasons you mention. Villa won’t sell him now though

          1. x.jim.x
            • 11 Years
            10 months, 9 days ago

Ah my bad, still not enough time to find two replacements though!

Striker market is dead at the minute - feel like Arsenal have done it just so they can say "well, we tried" with a plan to get someone like Osimhen in the summer.

              • 13 Years

This window, Villa can lose Watkins or Duran, not both. Not gonna happen this week. Could take a chanceo n Evan Ferguson, but prolly not been fit long enough to assess.
