The FA Cup semi-final picture was confirmed on Sunday after both Aston Villa and Manchester City made it through their quarter-final ties.

And, as was the case with Saturday’s cup matches, those results will shape the Blank and Double Gameweeks to come in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

BLANK GAMEWEEK 34

Coincidentally, cup victors Villa and City were due to play each other in Gameweek 34.

But as previously discussed, that weekend of top-flight football clashes with the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Manchester City v Aston Villa will consequently be postponed – and both clubs look set to blank in Gameweek 34.

Bournemouth will now not blank in Gameweek 34 as a result of their elimination today. The Cherries entertain Manchester United that weekend.

GAMEWEEK 34: THE FULL PICTURE

GW34 Premier League fixtureStatus
Arsenal v Crystal PalacePostponed
Bournemouth v Manchester UnitedOn
Brighton and Hove Albion v West Ham UnitedOn
Chelsea v EvertonOn
Liverpool v Tottenham HotspurOn
Manchester City v Aston VillaPostponed
Newcastle United v Ipswich TownOn
Nottingham Forest v BrentfordPostponed – but could still stay within Gameweek 34
Southampton v FulhamOn
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leicester CityOn

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 33 – OR SLOT INTO GAMEWEEK 37?

As for when City v Villa will now be contested, it’ll possibly be in the midweek after Gameweek 33. That would make it a ‘double’ for both clubs.

The midweeks after Gameweek 31 and 32 are definitely a no-go due to Villa’s involvement in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Should they defeat Paris Saint-Germain, Villa will also be in Europe in the midweeks after Gameweek 34 and 35.

Above image from Legomane

Gameweek 36 is unlikely, too: that might be needed to house Villa’s Gameweek 37 clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Why would that match be postponed, you might ask? Well, the FA Cup final takes place on the weekend of Gameweek 37. The UEFA Europa League final will go ahead in the midweek after Gameweek 37. Villa and Spurs respectively could still make those, meaning Gameweek 37 is completely out of the question for their scheduled Premier League meeting.

Man City v Aston Villa could, however, fit into the midweek after Gameweek 37.

We hopefully won’t have long to go to find out the rescheduled dates – although not that may not come before the Gameweek 30 deadline.

    Two questions, please:

    1. Rogers, Elanga or Kluivert?
    2. Go with three Palace and AM Howe; ditch one next week and AM Glasner; or go without one of Muñoz/Sarr/Mateta?

      2. I like the table bonus opportunity for Glasner. Of those I would probably leave out Muñoz as the fixtures are tough defensively.

        Wildcard 31 to sort BB.

But BB is weakest chip so would play that whenever. Main issue is whether to hold for now assuming WC 31

    How's this WC looking?

    Raya Areola
    Gabriel Gvardiol Munoz N.Williams Livramento
    Salah Palmer Rogers Sarr Kluivert
    Isak Mateta Marmoush

Exact 1.5 ITB to do Howe AM for 31 and 32 and then Pep in 33

    1. Zladan
      • 8 Years

We have near identical teams and strategy… differences marked *

      Raya Martinez*
      Gabriel Munoz Gvardiol Livramento Milenkovic*
      Salah Saka* Sarr Kluivert Rashford*
      Isak Mateta Marmoush

I do prefer my differences, but I guess that’s just budget restraint.

I would look to get Martinez if possible. He is good for a BB35 and also he likely doubles in 36.

Howe to Pep is the play. Triple city in 33 and probably the best and safest picks.

Can I interest anyone in a GW38 bench boost? Here is my reasoning:

    1. Leaving it until 38 means you will have better team value
    2. GW37 will be blank, so you need a strong bench to cover that anyway
    3. There is no point using it in a double unless you have at least 12 players with a double, otherwise any single week will do
    4. GW38 is typically high scoring
    5. Its the last GW, it will make it more fun and interesting on the final day when you have a chip and no one else does

    Any takers?

If you still have WC, AM, BB and FH left and my team is set up very well for GW30, should I WC31 BB33, FH34 and AM some time between 35-38? I could WC this week but my main reason for doing that before today was to bring in Haaland and captain.

Ignore Haaland as he might not even be back for 33. Maybe reconsider for a potential DGW36.

WC30 AM31 FH34 BB35/36 is the play if you have those chips remaining.

I would appreciate a direction since i feel completely lost now after read and see the Haaland news.

So to the point, current team is :
    Sels - (Fabianksi)
    Kerkez-Milenkovic-Gvardiol-Munoz - (Greaves)
    Bowen - Mbeumo - Salah (C) - (Django - Enzo)
    Isaak - Wissa - Haaland (VC)(+)

    1x FT, 0.1 itb || Available Chips : WC2, FreeHit, AM, BB.

Any reliable strategy, when to use the chips ?

There is no GW where your entire bench will double.

So it’s a matter of when your full XV is strongest.

GW35 is good for most WC30/31 teams.

GW36 is also good as there are potentially up to 4 or even 6 teams doubling (unlikely). Problem then is Arsenal play LFC and then the blanks for that week (other than Forest Brentford) are in 37.

Would you wildcard out of this team or wait till GW31?

    Sels
    Gabriel, Khusanov, Robinson
    Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, Kluivert, Bruno
    Isak, Wissa

    Fabianski, Mazraoui, Wood, Mykolenko

      Depends on a few things:

      Chip strategy
      Price changes
Target WC team and whether it would outperform existing team

    Okay how stupid is this?

    Raya Areola
    Gvardiol Gabriel Munoz Burn Williams
    Salah Saka Eze Sarr Murphy
    Isak Marmoush Evanilson

Tons left ITB. Haaland routes involve selling Salah or Saka. But likely I just go without. BB32 or 33 depending on fixtures/emergency transfers needed.

Isak + Marmoush are nailed if Haaland is indeed out. But I think I'm liking Eze routes rather than Mateta and Evanilson allows easy pivots back into Haaland because he's cheap and benchable which matters when we have super strong front 8s.

Looks good. I have a few Arsenal fan friends who do think it's too early for Saka to be a great FPL pick though.

Do you think Rashford is a good pick on a WC?

I have him. He will double at least once this season. He’s on pens. He’s just not nailed the spot yet. Risk worth taking imo.
