In this article, we will have a look at my current Free Hit team for Gameweek 34.

Most of the squad will have a familiar ring to it, so rather than waffle on about Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) and Alexander Isak (£9.5m), I’ll instead focus the majority of my words on a few other players I like, who I haven’t seen in quite so many RMT’s.

JARROD BOWEN

West Ham United haven’t been great from an attacking perspective under Graham Potter.

But in light of the opposition, I fancy Jarrod Bowen (£7.5m) to do well this weekend.

Brighton and Hove Albion have conceded 13 goals in their last five matches and will be without influential centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke (£4.5m), who is undergoing concussion protocols.

Fabian Hurzeler opted for Carlos Baleba (£5.0m) as an emergency centre-back the last time he missed out, and while he did pretty well, it was a poor overall performance by the Seagulls, with relegated Leicester City scoring twice and grabbing a rare point.

As for Bowen, he’s ticked along since returning from injury, with four goals and two assists in 10 starts, but I think he’s capable of hauling tomorrow, given how Brighton were picked apart on the counter-attack by Brentford last week.

In fact, only Leicester have conceded more counter-attack shots over the last five Gameweeks than Brighton, which could play into the hands of Bowen at the Amex.

Above: Teams sorted by counter-attack shots conceded in Gameweeks 29-33

My mini league rival is 29 points ahead but is not free hitting his current team will most likely be

    Flekken
    Ait Nouri, Milenkovic, Kerkez
Murphy, Mbuemo, Palmer, Salah, Kluivert (most likely)
    Cunha (most likely), Isak,

How much risk would you take as differentials to potentially catch up? I was thinking of targetting Flekken, Milenkovic, Kerkez, Palmer, Murphy, Kluivert, and Cunha by going Leno, Cucurella, TAA, Diaz, Barnes, Raul, and Larsen. Am I doing too much and taking too much minutes risk to chase?

They've got a decent set up for no FH. I'd defo try to go against Flekken, Milenkovic, Kerkez, Mbuemo and Kluivert. Palmer and Murphy might be a risk... I'd gor for maybe a few more Liverpool since they are weaker on that front, dias and trent maybe??? You could do Barnes over Kluivert if you think he will start.

Hey, I'm not on a FH this week but my 2 nearest main rivals are and I'm 95 pts ahead. 3.8m in the bank
However I only have 9 starters (it would be 10 if Cresswell was fit) - I have no idea why he doesn't have a flag in FPL he's deffo injured
I want to cover off what they do so I figure I can afford a couple of hits.
I've already done Saliba to Sessegnon and Mateta to Cunha so I've taken one hit of -4
Are any of these worth another hit and if so which would you prefer? would you do more than 1? noting that these are permanent transfers
    a) Saka to Mbuemo
    b) Saka to Palmer
    c) Saka to Diaz
    d) Cresswell to VVD
    e) Cresswell to TAA

Thanks man! That is the sole position I’m kinda still toying with. I do like Evanilson a lot, I just feel I have to attack the weak in SOU as I’m chasing, however UTD will also be weak, but not as dire as SOU haha!
I could get rid of Sa if going Larsen.
I’ll mull it over anyway, cheers.

More or less the same except I’ve went Alisson and Robinson over Leno and TAA just because I’m not convinced on Trent’s minutes. Otherwise looks great!

      1. RICICLE
        • 3 Years
        10 months, 9 days ago

Thanks bud! Yep nothing wrong with Alisson & Robinson, I originally had them two in myself to begin with.
It’s risky with TAA, but I’m willing to go there, just have to hope he’ll be gunning for a start in what could be Pool’s league winning match.

        1. boroie
          • 7 Years

Yeah toss of a coin and probably depends if you’re chasing or not. I’ve just managed to get into top 20k and am top of all mini leagues so happy to go a bit safer. Hence why I’m also going Robinson over Sessegnon.

          1. RICICLE

Templates. Good if you are consolidating.
If chasing be more ballsy. Everton defence for instance, Brentford attackers vs NFO or any of the Brighton or West Ham attackers.

      1. RICICLE
        • 3 Years

That’s the thing, I’m too of my ML’s even at 400k, but I really want to finish inside top 100k again, so I really should be chasing and being more gutsy.
Shall take this on board, cheers bud.

It’s certainly a worthy consideration, just Cunha I feel is the main man and solely all over the bonus points, I’m confident he’s a far better pick than Larsen, but as FPL goes, this could easily be Larsen’s week haha.

Not free hitting, but I cant help but think what my FH team would be, so here we go:

    Kepa
    Robinson - TAA - Cucu
    Salah - Diaz - Gordon - Barnes - Palmer
    Isak - Strand

Taken me all week to get that. Palmer is only in because FPL is like that. He will return the week everyone gets him in because there is no where else to spend the money on.

I don't think Everton is a good game for Palmer. Moyes is a stubborn SOB. He won't give Chelsea a drop.

Gordon is the one this week. Not sure why people don't see it.

Palmer flopping wont be a surprise. Its the expected result really, taking into account his recent form, when I say recent, 3 month form.

I think the Newcastle triple attack has so much upside. Is Gordon and Barnes to risky on FH ?

would be easy triple attack if we know who will start! (but we don't)

Trent or Cucu guys and girls?

Quite like the potential attacking appeal of both. But I have RAN and Trippier who are locks, so it's 2 into 1...

Trent for 58mins when we're 3-0 up. We will concede in the last 10mins always the way.

Surprised no love for VVD, especially with Spurs bad from corners
TAA I like but you do worry about a sub-60 sub a tiny bit

Defence is where I'm finding it difficult, I would love to start all of Trent, Trippier, Cucu, RAN & Sess but of course I won't

I know whichever two end up on my bench, they'll be the ones that haul

Looking through Neales/Scouts predicted lineups and it's tempting to gamble on one of Sessegnon or TAA in my starting 11.

Both currently on my bench and starting RAN, Trippier and Cucurella. Sessegnon/TAA would start ahead of Cucurella.

The RAN, Trippier, Cucurella defence is so vanilla.

Sometimes, you have to just go Rocky Road

Maybe Jota is this week. But a really underwhelming performance from Jota this season. I always had great success with Jota in the past, this season he has been terrible for me. Two or three times I got Jota this season.

    Sels ( Verbruggen )
RAN Sess Trippier (Huijsen / Cucurella)
    Diaz Kluivert Salah Murphy Palmer
    Isak Cunha (c) ( Raul )

    Thoughts on this FH ?

Captaining Cunha or Isak as im chasing ?

    Simple metric of xATT:
    - non-penalty xG * points scored for a goal (4,5,6)
    - xA * 3 points for an assist
...per 90 mins over the last 6 appearances (this maybe a little generous to those who don't regularly play full games):

    Barnes 3.4
    Diaz 3.2
    Evanilson 3.2
    Murphy 2.7
    Palmer 2.6
    Bruno 2.5
    Cunha 2.5
    Salah 2.4
    Larsen 2.4
    Isak 2.2
    Mitoma 2.2
    Sessegnon 2.1
    Welbeck 2.0
    Mbeumo 1.8
    Jota 1.7
    Jackson 1.6
    Gakpo 1.6
    Wissa 1.5
    Bowen 1.5
    RAN 1.5

If I add to this expected clean sheet points = CS odds * 4 points for defenders and 1 for midfielders:

    Barnes 3.9
    Sessegnon 3.7
    Diaz 3.6
    Murphy 3.2
    Ait Nouri 3.2
    Evanilson 3.2
    Palmer 3.0
    Tsimikas 2.9
    Salah 2.8
    Livramento 2.7
    Bruno 2.7
    Robertson 2.7
    Mitoma 2.6
    Schar 2.6
    Colwill 2.6
    Cunha 2.5
    TAA 2.5
    Burn 2.4
    Larsen 2.4
    Konate 2.3
    Trippier 2.3
    Cucurella 2.3
    Isak 2.2

This is the data in chart form with the y-axis being goal involvement (so more of an actual goal involvement vs. the expected data): https://i.imgur.com/lfPtbVm.png

Sess, Diaz, Barnes all look great
Evanilson and Bruno not really in drafts
Wood and Raul poor expected stats
Not much to chose between Cunha + Larsen
TAA's stats have not been as strong as I would have thought

Just watched the highlights of last 2 games of Wolves. JSL is getting loads of chances. Focal point of their attack. Better pick than Cunha?

Cunha probably involved in creating those chances for Larsen.

If Larsen and Cunha get the same number of attacking returns, Cunha will likely get more bonus points than Larsen

larsen gets less chances with cunha on the pitch. cunha is a shot hogger tbh

Cunha is the bonus points magnet, this and penalties are why I choose him over Larsen
