6 things we learned about Chelsea from the Club World Cup

Chelsea: world champions.

Not many people thought that was a likelihood when the FIFA Club World Cup started. Even after the group stage, the bookies estimated that the Blues only had a 16.8% chance of reaching the final, let alone winning the whole thing.

So, with a second trophy under Enzo Maresca’s belt, what should we expect from the west Londoners in the season ahead?

In this article, we thought we’d put together a few takeaways ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

First, though, a round-up of the minutes played, goals scored and assists registered.

APPEARANCES, GOALS + ASSISTS

Has Donald Trump been edited out of the article photograph? He was front and centre by all accounts during the celebrations.

No editing! He was next to Reece James for the first trophy lift, then made his way off stage.

        great article

although im not sure if you meant to say "Neam kept more clean sheets than the blues?"

        great content though

im thinking triple at the moment, palmer, pedro, and neto/gusto (depending who gets starts)

Hello folks, there's a bit of downtime planned for later while our tech team run a few updates. It's currently (roughly) scheduled for around 10pm BST.

Indeed, TM! If anyone is caught in the headlights by the site changes, Sam will be putting out an article in the morning explaining a few things. Reece is still tinkering away in the background overnight.

I don't know if this is just on mobile but names are half cut out and timestamps on comments are paragraphed, looks good otherwise

Note for Reece: neither of the side panels is opening reliably on mobile (Android 14 Chrome browser). Sometimes they open, other times the buttons are unresponsive

Testing further, this might be hydration-related, as the buttons always work after waiting for some seconds

The new UI looks neat but is there any chance the size of the ads can be reduced? They cover about 40 percent of the screen right now.

I've just seen that the fplstatistics site is no more. I've been using that for as long as I can remember. What's the next best free price change predictor?

I don't mind the new layout, but like Holmes says, the background needs an adjustment to provide contrast.

Agree with this. Love the new look but needs more contrast between posts and the background. This should make the stepped in replies clearer.

Was just about to comment this. It saves a huge amount of battery power on devices, and also saves the eyes of people sensitive to light like myself.

They seem to have removed the nudists too, which is a great development as I am sensitive to them!

good, but i do think dark mode would be nice. Also, I cannot see the sidebar when in an article. Is there a way to change that? to see the sidebar I had to go back to the homepage first.

I like the touch of the player picks in the team box, though they're a bit too small to make out properly. I think its going to look a bit odd when they are interspersed with new signings either in their previous kits or worse as 'nudist' gravs.
