It has not taken long for us to reach our first Double Gameweek of the season as all League One and League Two sides have two scheduled Gameweek 3 fixtures.

This match marks the first of seven scheduled Double Gameweeks for these two lower divisions.

However, based on last season’s experience, the number of Double and Triple Gameweeks could increase significantly beyond initial expectations.

All players in these 48 sides now have two opportunities to score points and impress for your Fantasy EFL squads. The importance of choosing wisely in this crucial Gameweek cannot be overstated, and we are here to help.

Choosing your Double Gameweek 3 squad

Your first priority ahead of this delightful Double is making sure you select seven players who are all available and are expected to start in both of their teams’ scheduled fixtures.

This means you should avoid all players with a risk of being rotated, and you should stay up to date with all injury and suspension news so you do not make any big mistakes.

Secondly, you should use our fixture ticker to see which teams have the most favourable fixtures coming up.

Selecting players from sides with two ‘green’ fixtures is certainly the way to go, as this will likely give you the best chance at some double-digit hauls. In Gameweeks like these, the ceiling for your players is sky-high.

Thirdly, have some fun with it! Double Gameweeks are exciting and unpredictable, and the top scorers will likely include players who nobody expected to be there.

This is a perfect opportunity to take some risks and go with your gut.

Double Gameweek 3 sides to focus on

Although there are many Championship players with great fixtures who are likely to boast strong scores this Gameweek, we highly recommend that you only choose players who are set to play twice.

Their ceiling is simply much higher, with 20-point performances doubtlessly on the cards, at a minimum.

Here, we will go through our top three sides with two favourable matchups in this highly anticipated Double Gameweek.

LUTON TOWN

Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2: Picks, tips, line-ups + more 1

The Hatters will surely be one of the most popular club picks this Gameweek after boasting 18 Fantasy points through their first two games of the season.

They beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0 (H) in their season opener, before comfortably beating Peterborough United 2-0 (A) last Saturday.

They have one of the best Doubles across all 48 teams, as they play Bradford City (A) and Wigan Athletic (H).

Despite the Bantams’ solid start, coupled with the challenge of playing at the University of Bradford Stadium, Luton are still considered the overwhelming favourite.

Similarly, the Latics finished 15th in League One last season and scored a mere 40 goals in 46 matches.

This indicates strong clean sheet potential for Luton as well as multiple goals in each game.

Assets

Mads Andersen (D) has been one of this campaign’s early Fantasy EFL stars, notching nine and 14 Fantasy points in his first two games, respectively. This comes as a result of two clean sheets (+10), a goal (+7) and three defensive contribution points. The 27-year-old seems to be an established starter this year and is looking for his third and fourth shutouts of the season in this Gameweek.

He is Luton Town’s best defender to target, particularly with his goal threat from set pieces.

Additionally, Jordan Clark (M) is expected to continue to play a significant attacking role this campaign. He tallied six goals and six assists last year and found the back of the net against Peterborough in GW2 on his way to a 10-point haul.

The 31-year-old’s versatility also makes him a consistent interceptions threat.

STEVENAGE

Fantasy EFL: Gameweek 12 line-up lessons 1

The Boro have an equally great set of Double Gameweek 3 fixtures and are a perfect team to target.

They have won both of their games this season, and now play Northampton Town (H) and Port Vale (A).

Each of these sides have registered just one point from a possible six to start the campaign and are easy targets for Stevenage to dominate.

The Cobblers narrowly avoided relegation last season after winning just 12 of their 46 games, resulting in a 19th-placed finish.

Although the Valiants will put up a fight, Alex Revell’s side will be hoping to make it four wins in a row. It would come as no surprise if Stevenage finish this Gameweek with four wins on the trot and sit at the top of the division standings.

Assets

Jamie Reid (F) is the obvious Stevenage selection this Gameweek after boasting three goals in his first two games of the campaign. With 22 Fantasy points and counting, he is the second-highest scoring forward in the EFL.

Northampton conceded 35 goals in 23 away games last year, whilst Port Vale conceded 40 on the road when they were last in League One in 2024.

Whereas, Carl Piergianni (D) is the best selection if you want to go for a Stevenage defender. He leads the EFL in clearances this season with 29 and scored 10 Fantasy points in GW2 via a clean sheet (+5) and 13 clearances (+3).

It would be a huge surprise if he does not tally at least one clean sheet this Gameweek, with consistent defensive contributions going without saying.

CARDIFF CITY

The newly relegated Bluebirds have an excellent chance to solidify their place in the promotion spots this Gameweek with two ideal fixtures.

They play Rotherham United (H) and AFC Wimbledon (A). Wimbledon finished fifth in League Two last season and face an uphill battle to stay competitive this year. Meanwhile, the Millers had a humbling 13th-placed finish last campaign and won just five of their 23 away games.

Cardiff scored twice and beat Peterborough in their season opener, and followed it up with a clean sheet against Port Vale, though they also failed to score.

Assets

Ronan Kpakio (D) is the highest-Fantasy scorer for the Bluebirds this season, and has huge potential to continue this form.

The 18-year-old bagged in Gameweek 1 before helping Cardiff to a clean sheet away at Port Vale.

His route to points at both ends means he should be in your thoughts.

Finally, Yousef Salech (F) continues to start up top for Cardiff, and this could be his breakout Gameweek. He scored eight goals in 20 Championship appearances in the 24/25 campaign, and should theoretically have an even easier time in front of the goal in this lower division.

We’re confident things will start clicking for the talisman sooner rather than later.
