While many Championship sides are expected to rotate their squads, it’s a huge opportunity for League One and Two teams. For these clubs, a deep cup run can be a major highlight of the season.

Some of the key Carabao Cup matchups to watch include:

  • Swansea City vs Crawley Town
  • Barrow vs PNE
  • Newport County vs Millwall
  • Bristol City vs MK Dons
  • Bromley vs Ipswich Town
  • Stoke City vs Walsall

The stakes are high for the winners of this round. The 11 Premier League teams not competing in Europe will join the competition in the second round.

An upset over the next 48 hours could lead to a massive home tie against a top-flight club.

With potential glory and the upcoming Double on the line for League One and Two sides, you can expect some big performances and maybe even a few surprises along the way.

This gives us a head start on Double Gameweek 3, allowing for early insights and predictions

While squad rotation is likely, the chance for underdog stories is what makes the early rounds of the Carabao Cup so exciting.
