The Saudi Pro League (SPL), or Roshn Saudi League (RSL) as it’s currently known for sponsorship reasons, is one of the fastest-growing competitions in world football.

Most Fantasy managers will be conscious of it as a destination for leading assets from the Premier League and other top European competitions.

But for many others, it’s become another outlet for their Fantasy Football obsession – as they play the RSL Fantasy game (just launched for 2025/26)!

According to the organisers, over 500,000 managers were signed up last season, making it one of the top five played football-based Fantasy games in the world. Granted, that’s a long way short of the c.11M players boasted by FPL, and still a way off UCL Fantasy’s c.2M managers, but it’s more than engage with the official Bundesliga game (c.300K) and the Serie A Fantasy game, which sadly disappeared in the close season.

  • NOTE: Scout is not being paid to promote this game by the SPL/RSL

5 Reasons FPL players may fancy giving RSL Fantasy a go

1. Cold Hard Cash

Part of the reason for the popularity and why you may be interested in giving it a go is the generous prize structure on offer.

Where many Fantasy games offer quite simple prizes (match tickets, shirts, balls, etc), last year RSL Fantasy had a sizable cash pool of 500,000 SAR (around £100,000 GBP at current exchange rates), with half of that 250,000 SAR on offer for the winner alone. There were also weekly prizes, including iPhone 15 Max’s awarded to the top performing managers. This year’s prizes have not been finalised, but we’d expect them to be generous.

And of course, there’s also the FFS league to compete in, slightly more modest on the £££ front perhaps (see below), but certainly not lacking prestige!

2. Familiar-ish Rules

Another bonus is the broad similarity to the rule system of FPL. The game is run by ISM, the same people behind the FPL game, and has many similar core principles

It’s a season-long game, with changing player prices and points for goals, assists, clean sheets, etc. Although for the 2025/26 season, it’s added a lot more routes to points (see our impending introductory rules article for more on that!).

3. Familiar players

3pm team news: Watkins starts, Toney a sub 6

Naturally, no introductions are needed to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Aleksandar Mitrovic or Ivan Toney, but the volume of familiar names is increasing all the time.

The summer we’ve seen Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez and Theo Hernandez from AC Milan joining Al Hilal, Chelsea’s Joao Felix and Bayern’s Kingsley Coman moving to Al Nassr, Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon to Neom SC and Mateo Retegui to Al Qadsiah.

4. Distinct Deadlines

For the most part, the Saudi league deadlines are earlier in the week than FPL, and later than UCL, typically on a Thursday or Friday (starting on Thursday 28 August). That means it won’t interfere too much with your final FPL planning!

5. FFScout is on hand to help!

Exciting changes to Fantasy Football Scout!

We’ll be running regular editorial content throughout the season as well as a guide to the key things you need to know in the remaining two weeks before the first deadline on Thursday August 28.

This will include weekly scout picks, captaincy articles and fixture frisking for all comers. Meanwhile, Chief Scout members will benefit from team reveals from top SPL managers, plus some Statsbomb data in the Members Area and likely a few other tools as well!*

(*N.B. This season, this will be a totally free addition as part of the existing FFS Chief Scout membership, as we will also be offering for UCL Fantasy. Due to the costs of data and editorial creation, we may need to separate these in the future).

Join the FFS League

You won’t be buying a fancy car or a small house if you win our mini-league, but you will get plenty of kudos and there’s over £550 worth of prize value up for grabs (see below).

MINI-LEAGUE PRIZE LIST: Over £550 of prize value!

  • 1st – £150 cash
  • 2nd – £100 cash
  • 3rd – £50 cash
  • 4th – Annual Chief Scout Membership
  • 5th – Annual Chief Scout Membership
  • 6th – 3x Months Membership
  • 7th – 3x Months Membership
  • 8th – 1x Month Membership
  • 9th – 1x Month Membership
  • 10th – 1x Monthly Membership

And just to be clear, none of this means there’ll be ANY departure from FPL. We’ve invested more than ever this season to overhaul the Members Area and tools and have our largest-ever team of staff writers and Pro Pundits devoted to providing you insights to help you win your mini-leagues, fuel banter and generally get the most out of your FPL season!

We’ll also be building in a new filter system shortly, which will allow those who just want to hear about certain games to filter their front pages accordingly.

Want to get involved? We have contributors on board, but we’re always interested in hearing more viewpoints, so get in touch: jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

FFS should be clear whether there is a commercial arrangement for it to promote this game. Better than the endless gambling ads I suppose.

We have to take your word for that, fine. But can’t you see how this is written up as a promotion - the article is all about why the league is great, why the fantasy game is great. Leading players and endless riches. This is not a credible article about the game, it’s a puff piece.

I can understand appealing to the non-european/younger market for sure. Obviously we all know that your traditional base has zero interest in this, with that in mind I hope the filter is very simple, easy to access, and persists between sessions.

Adding the last point because ffscout was infuriatingly unique in that it refused to remember login sessions, although I will say the site update seems to have fixed that.

I think if the site doesn't clearly have a 'FPL only' toggle, you're going to alienate people as the main articles become more of a pain to access. Selfishly would like the non-FPL content to be opt-in but I know that isn't going to happen.

    Oh F off Scout!

Not only is the Saudi Pro League a bag of proverbial with very little interest in the actual matches, there is even less interest in their fantasy game. Are you really that hard up for cash that you need to attach yourselves to every football related game going? A little bit of integrity never went a miss, do better.

Saudi pro league is huge in the middle east. There will be people from that region that might be interested in the game. I don't see how it's different from the Norwegian league that's covered on here from an interest perspective

Nope, and this isn't just me being stuck in the mud - I genuinely don't see any meaningful improvements and even basic functionality, such as the profile page, was only fixed at least a week after the redesign went live. A lot of things were changed for the sake of change, such as the post and cancel buttons on the comments box - it's so easy to click the wrong one especially on mobile. Besides that, too many other technical niggles to count

To be fair a lot of things were changed deliberately to make the site look more modern, fit a responsive site design where more and more people are on mobile, and (ideally) load faster. Ultimately the plan is to better sync the site, members tools and the app experience.

It’s not perfect yet we realise, and stress testing is difficult, but a lot of work has gone in and will continue to update and improve the system.
The challenge with systems that have been around for a long time is that it’s very hard to just update gently, you need to effectively restart. And do it whilst the site is live!

But we do listen to comments and will take this on board.

Big businesses should listen to its users, no profits if no traffic.

Lots of UK universities thought a tie up would be good for funding until the staff voiced concerns about the hidden side.

So on WC, and playing around with potential future templates. Defence full of DC monsters + Cucu who basically plays at times as a striker.

IF Palmer and Saka continue to struggle (very few returns in months) due to Marseca setup + Arteta tactics being Mourinho II , then this could be a viable structure. Money in the bank to turn Saka back to Salah in week 3, with Gakpo a place holder for Eze if he goes to Spurs and Isak kills his minutes.

Sunderland with there very low block, taking long shots and their center back getting DC while playing at home to West ham could be a nice rotating option.

    Roefs
    Ballard Lacroix Cucu
Saka (to be Salah in 3), Reindeer , Semenyo, Cunha, Gakpo.
    Haaland (c), Strand larson
    4mil, Anderson, Bjoil , 4,5

Like it apart from Strand Larsen. The guy is being held together with tape.

actually Ait- Nouri ( place holder for Gvardiol to get DC or attacking returns could be an obvious upgrade on the 2mil defender), with the SL money.

      Hi Count.
Genuinely interested in viewpoint here. There is no cash grab, this is totally unpaid for content for a fast growing fantasy game that won’t impact at all on resources/content for FPL.
Site also covers UCL, euros/World Cup/CWC Eliteserien and EFL - we’ve always looked at growing fantasy games before and this is in top 5 at present.

Not the OP but what was striking about this article is that it was not a piece about the game or the league per se, but how to join in. Perhaps no money changed hands, but if the game is so popular, so fast growing, why the marketing exercise?

The simplest answer is that it's taking space that other articles could be in. Even if it's different authors (sure) and editors (unlikely), ultimately any new article pushes an older one further down. No problem if it's quality content, a negative for both regular and new users if it's poor content.

Essentially that's the uncontroversial 'this is why this could be bad take

Who knows? But I do know he has scored one open play goal in the last 17 Prem games, wouldn’t have score if they had played all day yesterday and costs £2m more than Wirtz.

Yeah I'm just waiting to see if maresca shifts him back to right wing where he played in the CWC

He's simply useless playing in this role. Two more games there and he's out

U reckon Wirtz outscores Saka over the next few weeks? I have 1.5itb so it's a straight h2h call

If Eze goes to Spurs would you rather have
    A Kudus Romero Cucurella
B Eze, van de ven , Milenkovic
    Thanks

Anyone know how to navigate back to the main site once you are in the Members area? Seems impossible as even the main logo doesn’t get you back here. I have to close it down and reopen it.
