It’s Scout Picks time as we choose our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 7.

We considered the Scout Squad submissions made by Marc (Staff Writer), Sam (General Manager), Tom (Deputy Editor) and Neale (Editor) before coming up with our final team.

As ever, we are limited by certain restrictions.

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GOALKEEPER

3m team news:

Nick Pope (£5.0m) comes in for Newcastle United’s home encounter with Nottingham Forest. The Magpies will fancy their chances of a fifth clean sheet in seven Premier League games, especially considering that the Tricky Trees have failed to impress from an attacking perspective under Ange Postecoglou, having not won any of their six matches with him in charge.

    A bit undecided whether to loose Etikite or Gakpo for an Arsenal attacker. Both started the season well, Gakpo has trailed off a bit. Now with Isak enetering the fray, which of Etikite/Gakpo do we perceive will get most minutes in the Premier League? In the Galatasaray match we saw both Etikite and Isak on the pitch. Albeit, for a few minutes only. Insights from those ITK much appreciated.

      Own both and in a similar boat. I guess Gakpo would be more secure in terms of minutes but Ekitike looks the more dangerous and likely to score. Tough one.

        Seeing Gyokeres up there with Haaland in the market projections (above) helps towards moving Etikite to him rather than Gakpo- Saka. Leaves more money in the bank as well.

          Yeah I think that’s the sensible move. Shame losing Eki as I think he’ll do okay, just that Gyok will do better with those fixtures and security of starts.

      Oh dear. I think I'd prefer Thiaw or Krafth at RB and Trippier at LB than force Burn to play LB. Most Newcastle fans still have PTSD from Burn against Forest and Luton when he last had a run at LB.

      If Welbeck's just a cheap enabler, I think I'd rather Thiago or Isidor. You've 2.2 to make him Mateta as well. Why Welbeck?

      I'd worry about Calafiori's minutes long term as MLS looked really good on Wednesday and could easily start a bit in the prem in the busy schedule (Ben White less so, so Timber more safe atm imo)

    Is Gordon really a better long term pick than I Sarr?

    The fixtures do favour Newcastle but the Palace player is more consistent.

      Gordon has potential to be Newcastle's talisman, but really needs to step up. He needs to start getting his "cut in and shoot" on target more, rather than over the bar.

      Sarr has been in better form for the last year, and practically playing as a second striker this season. I'd been more inclined to go for him as you know what you're going to get from Palace's attack.
