You’ve probably heard about Joe’s much-liked ‘Goals Imminent’ table. You might listen to his and Marc’s Fantasy Football Scout podcast of the same name. Now, Goals Imminent is here in article form!

Heading towards Gameweek 12 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), these Members Area statistics identify some underachieving players who look ‘due’ for a goal and/or assist.

Naturally, we’ll attempt to assess whether they’re unlucky, suffering a rare blip, or just aren’t particularly good.

LAST WEEK’S SUCCESSES

FPL notes: Saka hauls + Sunderland the real deal 3

While expected goal scorers Bruno Fernandes (£8.9m) and Dango Ouattara (£6.0m) did ok by setting up a goal for others, the main success came during Arsenal’s trip to Sunderland.

Gunners duo Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) and Leandro Trossard (£6.9m) were part of last week’s table, and both netted on Wearside.

Two of the 10 didn’t start: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.5m) and Tijjani Reijnders (£5.5m).

As for predicted assists, Michael Kayode‘s (£4.5m) long throw caused Brentford’s equaliser, and Jeremy Doku (£6.4m) went one better by sealing Manchester City’s victory.

You want “advice” from folks who have no way to get him without a -12? There’s no way I’d WC without a 24% owned Salah and those fixtures. Double move to anyone if it doesn’t work out in 2 weeks and move on saying you took the shot.

I could do that with my 1FT, but with £3.6m itb maybe upgrading my 5th mid [currently Reijnders] to Bruno or a Liverpool mid and benching Woltemade [MCI] might be preferable this week.

Those looking for a cheap midfielder, might want to look at Freddie Potts. He dominated has been dominating set pieces the week prior against Newcastle and has had a strong showing since finding a place in the West Ham first XI. His corner count dipped slightly from 5 to 4 this week, but he was unfortunately forced off around the 60th minute with a knock. If he can recover over the international break, he becomes a solid midfield option thanks to his near-monopoly on corners.

Quite possibly better midfield fodder than King now. Potts looks pretty decent at DefCon as well - 13 last match & 11 in the match prior. Given King doesn't seem to return at all, feels like a better floor.

Described as a dead leg post-match so would imagine he's okay after the International Break. They'll want to play him with Paqueta missing out, too.

It depends on the players you own and how do you think their games will go.

For example I think the best week to FH for my team would be GW16, but then I'll have 5 FTs. Second best would be this GW. But that's based on my personal opinion on how the games will go.

Enzo has had good fixtures and blanked completely. I'm not dead set on Slobo - I won't get him - but pool do have v good fixtures coming up now though so he's a decent punt.

Sure, he's played well but the points didn't come and he's had v good fixtures. It's fine margins, throw a coupe of penalties in there and it suddenly looks great.

Anyone else looking at getting in Palmer as a differential? Gw12 prob too soon but I'm looking at the below for gw 13:

        Roefs (Dub)
Gab - Senesi - Lacroix (Alderete, Gudmundsson)
Saka - Palmer - Mbeumo - Semenyo (King)
        Haaland - Mateta - Thiago

        Ta

Doku worth a shout, Amad has good fixtures for a while but mbeumo is by far the best utd pick and I don't think 2 utd is worth it yet. Plus amad isn't completely nailed and doesn't always play 90.

            1. JPedro (uses 2FTs)

Is it me or are price changes absolutelly flying this season compared to others. Can understand it with players who've smashed it like Gab or early season Semenyo, but even Mateta has gone up 0.5 and looks to be rising again - I've had him most of the season & aside from that hatty he's nor really pulled up any trees. Same with Caicedo, rising again after blanking.

I'm not complaining as most of my players keep rising, but is it actually more volatile this season?

I've given up trying to catch prise rises this season because if someone has a good GW they will rise at least .1 and more likely .2.
Helps with not as many big hitters needed this season so money not as tight as previous seasons

I tried that for 1 week but I got priced out on my wildcard by .1m, so I won't hesitate if I have to make the move early. I've had to reluctantly sell Bruno and am still .1m short of Sarr. I still think price rises matter if it affects your team structure for the future. It can force you to take a hit or make an additional transfer to cover the price rise.

Good question. There's nearly 12.5m teams now whereas it was probably a million or more less in previous seasons after 10 gameweeks. We'd think price changes are based on averages but maybe more teams affect it? I thought some players, like Guehi, were quite cheap before GW1 so it could be a factor.

I think it's a deliberate decision to drive some pricing decisions/ pinch points back into the game.

With Palmer out, Saka before him and Salah not demanding a pick it's removed one dynamic of the game.

With all the FTs and wildcards it could cause some pain if you want to jump off someone and get them back in the second half of the season.

Also, with lower value players performing they've taken that out of the backline.

DCs weren't properly configured into pricing this season.

'While Arsenal have made clear their preference for their first visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium be moved to the Saturday, it is understood that is not the only potential date under consideration by the Premier League.'

Could be a BGW17? Or they would keep it in GW17 just move it by a couple of days as Arsenal want.

There's very little variety in the game when we get doubles anyway, everyone just does the same thing, saves the chips, same transfers etc... doubles are bad for the game as a whole

Incidentally to me this move for Palace (no brainer for Arsenal) implies they are valuing the League Cup semi final over everything else as they've moved the league game closer to the european game and given themselves less rest there. I would say they'd rotate for the european game but they have nobody to rotate with
