Sunderland made it five matches unbeaten in the league, as they drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

KUDUS INJURY BUT XAVI TO RETURN
Before any of the goals went in, Mohammed Kudus (£6.4m) was forced off with injury. The Ghanaian went down off the ball, clutching his left leg.
Thomas Frank was very brief when he touched upon injury, saying:
“We don’t know how it looks like.” – Thomas Frank on Mohammed Kudus’ injury
Kudus has played a direct role in just under a third of his side’s goals this season, so Spurs will feel his absence immediately.
He joins Destiny Udogie (£4.3m), James Maddison (£6.8m), Dejan Kulusevski (£6.4m) and Dominic Solanke (£7.2m) on the injury list, further weakening Thomas Frank’s options. With Pape Sarr (£4.5m) away at AFCON, Frank now has limited depth across several key areas.
Xavi Simons (£6.5m) at least returns from a ban in Gameweek 21.
ISIDOR OUT, BALLARD IN
Sunderland had an injury blow of their own, with Wilson Isidor (£5.3m) out of the squad.
“It’s a small injury, probably minor. I hope it will be available for Brentford.” – Regis Le Bris on Wilson Isidor
During the first half of the campaign, Isidor netted four times, proving influential in attack. His form however, has slowed since then, and he is without a goal in his previous 10 league outings.
He hasn’t started since Gameweek 15, indeed.
Daniel Ballard (£4.6m) returned, at least.
The Irishman was limited to 24 minutes as a substitute but may come into the thinking against Brentford, especially given the Bees’ aerial strengths. Dennis Cirkin (£4.0m) could drop out.
TWO SIDES WHO ARE BETTER AT THE BACK?

Top half for lowest xG conceded, bottom half for xG. That’s where both Spurs and Sunderland lie this season, so no surprise that Sunday was a game of few clear openings.
A couple of long-range efforts from Mathys Tel (£6.2m) and Trai Hume (£4.5m) were just about worthy of mention, while Enzo Le Fee (£4.9m) hit the post with a header. Nordi Mukiele (£4.3m), redeployed as a right-back in the second half, supplied the cross for that effort. We could see him there again in midweek if Ballard is recalled.
Le Fee at least did get some reward with the assist for Brian Brobbey (£5.5m), who picked up his first return since Gameweek 13.
“He was important because he’s a link player, really versatile, adaptive, so when we need to change the shape, the structure in real-time, he’s always ready to do everything properly. He’s so important for us.” – Regis Le Bris on Enzo Le Fee, who has started every game since Gameweek 5
Earlier, Ben Davies (£4.3m), making his first start of the season, got on the scoresheet after diverting Micky van de Ven’s (£4.5m) effort into the Sunderland net.
Despite the lack of clean sheets here, defenders from both sides are more appealing than their respective attackers.
The likes of Mukiele and van de Ven are very playable in at least two of the next four Gameweeks:

Mukiele and Granit Xhaka (£5.3m) banked DefCon points for the ninth and 10th times this season, respectively, on Sunday.
