The Matchday 7 deadline for UEFA Women’s Champions League Fantasy season is almost here.
In this article, our expert @Schurrle_FWSL reveals his team selection.
After an almost two-month break, Women’s Champions League Fantasy returns this week. I signed off 2025 with a welcome green arrow, moving back inside the top 50 and currently sitting 32nd overall.
With four teams already through to the quarter-finals and a further six eliminated at the league stage, managers have been granted unlimited transfers both before and after the knockout play-offs. With that flexibility in mind, this is how my squad is shaping up ahead of Wednesday’s deadline.
TEAM REVEAL

GOALKEEPERS
Misa Rodríguez (3.8m) is my goalkeeper for Wednesday. The Real Madrid captain has started every match since Merle Frohms picked up an injury in October, and with Frohms still absent from the matchday squad, I expect that to continue across both legs of the play-off. Las Blancas are favourites to progress against Paris, which makes Misa an appealing option especially as I’m looking to quadruple up on other sides elsewhere in my squad.
Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce (5.4m) sits as my back-up for Thursday. The American kept three clean sheets during the league phase, including a 1–0 win away to Atlético Madrid, who they face again this week. Stina Johannes (4.9m) of Wolfsburg remains under consideration, but for now Tullis-Joyce holds the edge.
DEFENDERS
Lotte Wubben-Moy (4.6m) currently fills my Arsenal defensive slot, although that could change once we see Arsenal’s line-up before the deadline. She averaged a team-high 7.2 ball recoveries per 90 among Arsenal defenders during the league phase and contributed to three clean sheets across her five appearances.
With Leah Williamson now back fit, her place over both legs isn’t guaranteed. That shouldn’t be an issue for the first leg, but the second could prove tricky without line-up information, so my final call will depend on Wednesday’s team news.
María Méndez (5.0m) partners Misa Rodríguez in a Real Madrid defensive double-up. Méndez played the full 90 minutes in all six league-phase matches and averaged 5.5 ball recoveries per game.
I’m sticking with a Manchester United defensive triple, selecting Maya Le Tissier (5.7m) and Fridolina Rolfö (5.1m), alongside Phallon Tullis-Joyce in goal. Le Tissier’s value was clear in the league phase, where she played every minute, averaged 7.5 ball recoveries per 90, and converted a penalty. As mentioned in my Gameweek 1 reveal, Rolfö is listed as a defender despite operating mainly as a winger under Marc Skinner. Her minutes aren’t guaranteed, but her output was excellent, with three goals and one assist in the league stage.
Camilla Küver (4.0m) completes my defence, as I aim to own at least one defender from each tie favourite. Küver played 90 minutes in five of Wolfsburg’s six league-phase matches and averaged six ball recoveries per game.
MIDFIELDERS
The midfield pairing of Caroline Weir (5.6m) and Linda Caicedo (7.1m) feels close to essential. Weir scored 43 points in the league phase, returning a goal or assist in five of her six matches. Caicedo also impressed, delivering double-digit hauls against both Roma and Wolfsburg.
I’ve also doubled up on Arsenal midfielders. Mariona Caldentey (8.0m) leads Arsenal for chances created this season and heads into the play-offs in strong form. She has returned in three of her last four matches. Even without attacking returns, she offers a solid floor through ball recoveries, registering at least three in every Champions League appearance so far.
She’s joined by Olivia Smith (7.0m), who has scored in each of her last three outings for the Gunners. As with Wubben-Moy, these selections could still change depending on Arsenal’s confirmed line-up.
Fiamma (6.6m) is the only player I’ve selected who doesn’t represent one of the favourites to reach the quarter-finals — and for good reason. She’s currently the highest-scoring player in the game, sitting nine points clear of the field. Four goals and three assists across the opening six matches highlight just how dangerous the 21-year-old is. If anyone is likely to spoil my Manchester United clean-sheet hopes, it’s her.
FORWARDS
Wolfsburg’s attacking pair of Alexandra Popp (8.6m) and Lineth Beerensteyn (7.4m) have combined for 24 goals in all competitions this season, making the double-up an easy decision. Beerensteyn, in particular, looks a strong captaincy option for Thursday.
Alessia Russo (10.5m) completes my Arsenal quadruple-up. The England international scored four goals and added two assists during the league phase. She won Player of the Match twice – including against OH Leuven. With 65 percent ownership, she also offers a safe captaincy option for Wednesday, pending line-ups.
