As we head into Round 24, our experts are here to reveal their teams, break down their transfer plans, and explain the thinking behind their moves ahead of another crucial round.

Saudi 24

NOTES

  • Round 10 delivered 90 points, comfortably above average. Cristiano Ronaldo led the way with 22 points and kept me steady at 8.5k overall.
  • I used two free transfers. I sold Fortounis for Yannick Carrasco, and moved Amadou Koné on for Mahamadou Doumbia, who arrives with set-piece upside and strong recent form.
  • João Félix survives another week. His effective ownership makes it a rank-sensitive decision, so I’ve decided to hold for now.
  • Marcelo Grohe starts in goal.
  • At the back, Roger Ibanez, Danilo Pereira (flagged) and Gaston Álvarez all start.
  • All five midfielders keep their places.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo and Ivan Toney lead the line.
  • Nathan Zeze and Saad Balobaid provide cover on the bench.
  • I’m backing Ivan Toney with the armband at the moment. Julian Quinones holds vice-captaincy, although I’m still weighing up the final decision.

NOTES

  • Another green arrow last round, which was very pleasing. I’m still waiting on confirmation of the updated overall rank, but the direction of travel looks good.
  • We’ve got another quick turnaround, so I expect more rotation as teams manage minutes and keep players fresh.
  • I’m happy with how the squad looks, so I plan to roll the transfer again and keep flexibility for the next round.
  • If the flagged Danilo Pereira misses out, I’m comfortable bringing in Al Ghannam, who returns from suspension this week.

NOTES

  • Round 24 arrives less than 24 hours after Round 23 finished. No time to breathe.
  • Round 23 didn’t shift my thinking on any of the key players, so I’m staying patient and rolling the free transfer. Stacking moves for the coming weeks could prove important.
  • The captain’s armband goes to Ivan Toney.
  • Let’s push for more green arrows.
  • Good luck, everyone.

NOTES

  • I’m moving Karim Benzema on due to his long-term injury and looking at one of these replacements: Ivan Toney, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Alexandre Lacazette, and Marcos Leonardo.
  • For captaincy, I’m currently deciding between Sadio Mane, Joao Felix, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
  • My wider watchlist looks like this:
  • Goalkeepers: Bento and Koen Casteels.
  • Defenders: Waleed Al Ahmed/Jehad Thakri, Francisco Calvo, Inigo Martinez and Theo Hernandez.
  • Midfielders: Julian Quinones, Mourad Batna/Sofiane Bendebka/Matias Vargas, Ruben Neves, Kingsley Coman, Fashion Sakala, Valentin Vada and Rayane Messi.

NOTES

  • This week I’m rolling my transfer. I’m happy with how the squad is set up and I don’t see a move that improves it enough to justify using it.
  • Mourad Batna and Ruben Neves both have strong matchups against weaker defensive sides. That gives them clear attacking potential, especially with Batna’s penalty duties and Neves’ role on set pieces and spot-kicks. The opportunity for returns is definitely there.
  • At the back, the defenders face favourable opposition as well. The fixtures suggest strong clean-sheet potential, and with the defensive form some of these sides are showing, I’m confident in backing them this week.
  • Overall, the team looks well balanced with good fixtures across the pitch, so holding the transfer and keeping flexibility for next round feels like the right call.
