NOTES
- Another blank from Harry Kane, and this time Michael Olise too, has really hurt my early-season strategy. However, I’m sticking with the approach for a third time and hoping for a change of fortunes.
- There aren’t many other changes planned, aside from switching Poreba to a cheap Schalke midfielder. Laurin Curda, Olise and Kane keep the three star-player slots.

NOTES
- Goalkeepers: Nicolas Kristof and Fabian Bredlow
- Now that Frederik Rønnow has returned from injury earlier than expected, I need to replace Matteo Raab. With my current transfer plans, however, I can only afford Kristof, who faces Bayern. The uncertainty surrounding Robin Zentner’s injury at the time of writing means that either he or deputy Alexander Schwolow are difficult to consider. Both would otherwise be cheaper options with a more favourable fixture than Kristof.
- Defenders: Maximilian Mittelstädt*, Nikola Katić, Jordy Makengo and Keita Kosugi. Once again, I’m planning to shuffle some of my budget picks. Jan Gyamerah is set to face Bayern, while Marius Wolf carries some risk in terms of expected minutes, so both are under consideration for a sale. As has been the case so far this season, I don’t have much money to spend in defence. That means anyone with a decent fixture and reliable minutes could become an option. Katić and Makengo are the lucky ones at the moment. Mittelstädt and Kosugi will probably stay because both should get plenty of playing time, even though their fixtures aren’t ideal, with away matches against Hoffenheim and Mainz, respectively. I’m also considering keeping Gyamerah and selling Kosugi instead, which would allow me to afford Nahuel Noll over Kristof.
- Midfielders: Michael Olise*, Ibrahim Maza, Ethan Nwaneri, Grischa Prömel and Ísak Jóhannesson
- Olise’s benching last week came as a surprise, but hopefully that means he will return to the starting XI this weekend. I’m once again trusting him with the midfield star slot. Maza, Prömel and Jóhannesson will also likely remain in the team. While I wouldn’t necessarily buy any of them this Matchday, they can all be trusted for good minutes. Maza has been playing well and producing a solid baseline, while Prömel’s tendency to get into the box could earn him a goal against his former side. Jóhannesson also has set-piece involvement and favourable fixtures before the international break. Nwaneri will be the new addition, as I want to capitalise on Dortmund’s attacking potential against Paderborn.
- Forwards: Philip Tietz*, Afonso Moreira, Marco Grüll and Younes Ebnoutalib
- As with the previous Matchday, my existing forwards are safe from the chopping block. However, they’ll be joined by a new addition this week. Grüll produced a goal and an assist in Werder’s surprise win over Leipzig, while also winning plenty of duels and showing a strong points floor. This wasn’t an anomaly either, as he produced similar numbers in Matchday 1. That’s enough for me to bring him in, with a switch to 3-4-3 also on the cards.

- A solid Matchday 2 took me up to 2,155th in the world, with star player Phillip Tietz, Felix Keidel and Matthias Ginter all delivering nice hauls. I’m hoping to build on that this week and break into the top 1,000 before the international break.
- I’m likely to sell Calvin Brackelmann, Jano ter Horst, Keidel, Yuito Suzuki and Can Uzun this week. Some haven’t performed as well as I’d hoped, while others face very difficult fixtures.
- I’m looking to bring in Waldemar Anton, Jan Gyamerah, Fabio Gruber, Aljoscha Kemlein and Ethan Nwaneri. Dortmund’s home meeting with Paderborn makes the double-up particularly appealing, while the cheaper options elsewhere give me enough money to make all five moves.
- I’ll most likely line up in a 4-4-2 this week, which gives me a bench option in every position if I need one. Ginter, Michael Olise and Tietz currently take my three star-player slots.
