MLS Fantasy continues, and we’ve asked our experts to reveal the teams they’re backing ahead of the deadline.

In this article, several experienced managers share their current squads, along with their thinking around key decisions for the round

NOTES

  • Lionel Messi returns to my team after making way for Robert Lewandowski in midweek. The Chicago striker keeps his place in the squad for Round 25.
  • Midfield needs some attention, with Evander suspended and Thomas Müller set to miss out. Allan Saint-Maximin and the returning Guilherme are the most likely replacements.
  • I’ll use my remaining transfers to strengthen either midfield or defence. Joaquín Pereyra and Kai Wagner are the two players most at risk of making way.

NOTES

  • It’s another quick turnaround this week. I’m planning to use my Wildcard next round, when two teams have a Double Gameweek.
  • No changes are needed in goal. Brian Schwake of Nashville and Yohei Takaoka of Vancouver both retain their places.
  • I’ve made one change in defence, bringing in Manu Duah of San Diego. Anthony Markanich of Minnesota, Neil Pierre of Philadelphia, Mathías Laborda of Vancouver and Maxwell Woledzi of Nashville complete the backline.
  • Two forced sales shape my midfield moves this round. Evander and Thomas Müller both miss out through yellow-card accumulation suspensions, so Milan Iloski of Philadelphia and Guilherme of Houston come in. Nick Fernandez of New York City FC, Hany Mukhtar of Nashville and Joaquín Pereyra of Minnesota retain their places.
  • I’ve also made two changes in attack. Anders Dreyer of San Diego and Denis Bouanga of LAFC come in, with Lionel Messi of Inter Miami completing the front three.
  • Messi starts the round with the captaincy, while Dreyer provides my fallback option.

NOTES

  • My goalkeepers will remain unchanged despite a slight fixture clash.
  • In defence, I like the idea of backing Colorado Rapids and LAFC this week. That explains the current inclusion of Rob Holding and Ryan Hollingshead. Holding is with Colorado, while Hollingshead represents LAFC.
  • Ryan Gauld comes into my midfield, while I’m also tempted by a punt on a Columbus Crew attacker.
  • My forwards will remain unchanged unless Antoine Griezmann gets rested. If that happens, I’ll bring in Son Heung-min.
