Joao Pedro out of Brazil squad with reported injury

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) has pulled out of the Brazil squad for the upcoming September internationals, casting doubt over his involvement for Gameweek 5.

The Brazilian Football Federation say that the striker is “injured”.

The Chelsea striker, owned by 75% of Fantasy Premier League managers, had not been seen by Sky Sports cameras in training earlier this week.

Despite some media reports suggesting he was “expected to be fit”, this latest development surely renders him a major concern for Friday’s clash with Brentford.

ARE THERE ANY MORE DETAILS ON THE INJURY?

Brazilian outlet Globo say that Pedro “hurt his knee [on Saturday] in a fall after a challenge for the ball in the air, remained on the field, and even scored a goal, but continued to experience pain and later underwent medical examinations.”

Pedro did appear to be struggling at one point but completed the game:

      Some people would probably say Foden to Gross. If you did that you could take a -4 to upgrade Hume/Shaw to whatever defender you can afford. Munoz/Gvardiol/Branthwaite.

          Eh, depending on my mood I might look to take a punt by replacing one of Branthwaite, KDH, Wissa, or Cherki.

          Also, although no one would recommend it I might look to not have B.Fernandes somehow and use the money to upgrade elsewhere but that's just because I don't like B.Fernandes and am usually happier when he is not in my team. (but i'll take that 46 point haul he got me a couple weeks ago! but i've sold him since then.)

    With Pedro being out, I would be playing De Cuyper. Just played my Wild card and would love to have Muharemovic but I went with Hall and Williams with a view to get him later.
    I, however have enough money to do De Cuyper to Muharemovic this Gameweek. Should I do it? He could do well v Palace.
    Looking ahead De Cuyper I was benching v Sunderland away anyway and then he has Palace at home but Muharemovic has Man UTD at home.

    Plan is to FH GW7 to target IPS (no Haaland team). If I do De Cuyper to Munoz now I can play Munoz in place of Pedro this GW (instead of having to play De Cuyper against Ars) I can get De Cuyper back in on FH in GW7 which is his only good fixture until GW10

    Then GW 10 if De Cuyper is still playing LW I can buy him back for Hall whose fixtures turn bad around the same time.

    Decent plan?

    On WC this gw. Seems logical to keep Pedro pending more news considering he played on even scoring a goal after the injury in the last game. However, now I’m thinking it may be ok to sell him on WC and keep the funds to bring him back in. Don’t normally like to plan transfers after WC but considering I’ll have 3ft it doesn’t seem too bad.

    In my team, Brobbey, Shaw and Hume are the bench players. I was about to sell Tzolis and use the FT to buy Gibbs-White before his price rise but luckily I didn't. Think, now I have to replace one of my bench fodders for someone playable.

    A. Brobbey > Barry / Delap
    B. Hume > Konsa (already have Calafiori, De Cuyper, Gross and Tzolis from Arsenal / Brighton. Also Verbruggen, but he will be on bench)
    C. Sell Joao Pedro.
