Joao Pedro out of Brazil squad with reported injury

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) has pulled out of the Brazil squad for the upcoming September internationals, casting doubt over his involvement for Gameweek 5.

The Brazilian Football Federation say that the striker is “injured”.

The Chelsea striker, owned by 75% of Fantasy Premier League managers, had not been seen by Sky Sports cameras in training earlier this week.

Despite some media reports suggesting he was “expected to be fit”, this latest development surely renders him a major concern for Friday’s clash with Brentford.

ARE THERE ANY MORE DETAILS ON THE INJURY?

Brazilian outlet Globo say that Pedro “hurt his knee [on Saturday] in a fall after a challenge for the ball in the air, remained on the field, and even scored a goal, but continued to experience pain and later underwent medical examinations.”

Pedro did appear to be struggling at one point but completed the game:

    One of my first WC drafts ended up having the same front 3, the same GK and starting defence (Raya, Konsa, Gvardiol, Calafiori), and 2 of the same midfielders (Rogers, Palmer) as my main ML rival.

    It's just too boring. I've got to do something to make it interesting. This will likely involve implementing rotating goalkeepers (thinking Leno and Kinsky). Then maybe Munoz instead of Gvardiol.

    Another possibility is ditching DCL to go 4-4-2/3-5-2 instead. Or now that Pedro is possibly injured drop him instead of DCL.

        Not a Mbuemo hater but Utd as a whole are awful currently. Also, I would have expected Mbuemo to have a high xgi having played two of the promoted clubs already. Almost 2/3 of his xgi came against Ipswich

        He did ok at Barca, nothing exceptional and nowhere near enough to force the club to push to want him permanently even at a relatively low price. Never plays with a smile on his face, doesn’t mature with experience and is still lacking confidence at 28 years of age.

      Oh 100%. Not only was he a massive set piece weapon, he was the only one who could put a tackle in. Utd can’t break down low blocks with set pieces anymore because they don’t have Casemiro and the rules have changed. They’re also easy to play through because they don’t have good protection for their shoddy defence. The second part of that will probably improve when Baleba is fit. The first part, not so much. Expect an inconsistent season from Utd
