Joao Pedro out of Brazil squad with reported injury

Joao Pedro (£7.8m) has pulled out of the Brazil squad for the upcoming September internationals, casting doubt over his involvement for Gameweek 5.

The Brazilian Football Federation say that the striker is “injured”.

The Chelsea striker, owned by 75% of Fantasy Premier League managers, had not been seen by Sky Sports cameras in training earlier this week.

Despite some media reports suggesting he was “expected to be fit”, this latest development surely renders him a major concern for Friday’s clash with Brentford.

ARE THERE ANY MORE DETAILS ON THE INJURY?

Brazilian outlet Globo say that Pedro “hurt his knee [on Saturday] in a fall after a challenge for the ball in the air, remained on the field, and even scored a goal, but continued to experience pain and later underwent medical examinations.”

Pedro did appear to be struggling at one point but completed the game:

      I wouldn't go with Dedic. He's been getting subbed off and Livramento is back from injury. And De Cuyper's coming in for some tough fixtures ahead.

      Would change those two to one of the high scoring 4m defenders and one of the 5m reliable defcon options.

      Otherwise the squad looks very good.

      He's obviously very good. But there are 10+ good defenders that will match him. I still rate defcons over the occasional goal and assist. Plus Mitoma back at some point.

      Groß on the other hand.. absolutely essential as a 4th or 5th misfielder. Set and forget.

          He’s a good player, good fixtures could turn Newcastles form. So , yes it could be a good move.
          Alternatively could you use that transfer to change a player in your squad who has better fixtures?

      Fixtures wise yes. Recency bias has probably unduly influence my decision to go for gross although I'm telling my self it's pens and set pieces

      Probably not especially with the form Groß is in at the moment, add penalties to that. King has the fixtures but so often that doesn’t materialise into points. Pick the better player.

    Never wished any player a injury.
    Well maybe aside from some Argentinian mob like Paredes, Martinez or Enzo…

    But JP’s absence may be good for game and bring some variety.
    Towers priced him ridiculously wrong, he could be 10m and still be owned by +60%.

    Let’s see if our 1st bench players can make some difference this week and we can all come back to a 9 players game in 3 weeks.
