- I’ve backed three teams with favourable defensive fixtures this week. Phil Neumann is the Championship’s highest-scoring defender, thanks to his consistent bonus points and goal threat. Birmingham host Swansea City, making him an appealing option.
- Jimmy Dunne also offers considerable goal threat ahead of QPR’s home clash with Lincoln City. However, I could switch to Pierce Charles in goal and Keven Schlotterbeck in defence instead.
- My midfield features three popular picks who have all enjoyed excellent starts to the season. Jack Moylan, Finn Azaz and Amario Cozier-Duberry also have promising fixtures for attacking returns.
- Moylan comes into the Gameweek after scoring a hat-trick, so he’s unlucky to miss out on captaincy. However, I can see Southampton scoring heavily against Preston North End, with Azaz playing a key role. That’s why I’ve given him the armband.
- Up front, I’ve currently selected Tommy Conway. Will Lankshear’s injury has come at a frustrating time, as he’d be my preferred choice if fully fit. I’d happily select him if I knew he could play at least 75 minutes.
- This position could still change before the deadline. For now, I’m backing Conway’s attacking threat if he starts up front. I also think Middlesbrough could score three or more goals against Watford on Saturday.
- There are several appealing club pick combinations this week. Ideally, I’d select Middlesbrough and Southampton, but I’ve already used Boro twice from my five available selections.
- With that in mind, I’m taking a more cautious approach and backing Birmingham City against Swansea alongside Southampton. However, I could still switch to QPR or Sheffield United, who also have favourable fixtures.

- Michael Cooper is my first pick this week. Sheffield United have looked solid defensively recently, while Charlton Athletic possess one of the Championship’s weakest attacks. That makes Cooper an appealing option for a clean sheet.
- I also like Southampton’s defence against Preston North End, who have struggled for shots and xG. Keven Schlotterbeck offers additional goal threat from set pieces, making him an attractive defensive selection.
- Birmingham City take my final defensive spot. They’ve won five of their last six matches and kept four clean sheets during that run. Their recent form makes them difficult to ignore.
- Finn Azaz joins Amario Cozier-Duberry in midfield, with Southampton and Middlesbrough both looking impressive going forward. However, leaving out Jack Moylan feels risky, and I could still change my mind before the deadline.
- Jarrod Bowen takes one of my forward spots. He’s West Ham United’s main attacking threat, takes penalties and shares corner duties. I fancy him against a struggling Blackburn Rovers side, so he’ll also receive my captain’s armband.
- Yousef Salech completes my attack. He should get plenty of chances against Burnley and also shares penalty-taking duties, adding to his appeal.
- Cardiff City are my first club pick. Their excellent underlying numbers and favourable home fixture against Burnley make them a strong option this week.
- Southampton take my second club spot. I’m hoping they can deliver a convincing performance against Preston and collect some valuable away bonus points.

- Sheffield United’s Michael Cooper is a slightly different goalkeeper pick this week, but I’m happy to back him. Charlton Athletic are in poor form, although playing away won’t be straightforward. I’m hoping Cooper can collect some valuable save points and potentially a clean sheet.
- The vice-captaincy goes to Ben Wilmot ahead of Stoke City’s trip to Portsmouth. It’s a difficult fixture, but Wilmot offers plenty of potential for defensive points. If Stoke can keep things tight, I fancy him to produce a decent return.
- Wolves defender Ladislav Krejčí also makes my team this week. Wrexham away presents a challenge, but Wolves have enough quality to frustrate their opponents. Hopefully, Krejčí can help organise the defence and collect some useful points.
- In midfield, I’m taking a chance on Amario Cozier-Duberry against Watford. Middlesbrough face a tricky away fixture, but Cozier-Duberry has the quality to make things happen in attack. I’m hoping he can produce something special this week.
- Jack McGlynn is another interesting midfield selection ahead of Stoke’s trip to Portsmouth. He can contribute in several areas, and I’m hoping he picks up some valuable bonus points.
- My captain this week is Callum Styles, who faces Millwall at home. I really like this fixture and fancy him to produce a big performance in front of his own supporters. Hopefully, he can deliver a strong points haul and justify the armband.
- Leading my attack is Sam Dalby, who travels to Derby County. It’s not the easiest fixture, but he has the ability to trouble defenders and get himself on the scoresheet. I’m backing him to step up this week.
- Stoke City are my first club pick. Portsmouth away won’t be easy, but I’m backing Stoke to put in a competitive performance and come away with a result.
- My second club selection is Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wrexham will provide a difficult test, although Wolves have enough quality to take something from the match. Hopefully, they can deliver when it matters.
@FPLAguero_

- I’m going with Ryan Allsop in goal for Birmingham City’s home clash with Swansea City. James Beadle’s fitness remains uncertain, giving Allsop a potential opportunity. Birmingham have a reasonable clean-sheet chance, although I’ll need to check the starting lineup. Covering for Beadle in midweek doesn’t guarantee Allsop will start on Saturday.
- The Birmingham defensive double-up continues with Phil Neumann. I like his potential for defensive points alongside the opportunity for a clean sheet. If Birmingham keep Swansea out, both selections could deliver. However, I’m aware that doubling up carries some risk.
- Keven Schlotterbeck completes my defence ahead of Southampton’s trip to Preston North End. Southampton also have a promising clean-sheet opportunity, making him an appealing option. With Azaz and the Southampton club pick already selected, I’m putting plenty of faith in Saints this week.
- My vice-captain is Jack Moylan, who faces Burnley at home. He took Cardiff’s latest penalty, which adds to his appeal, although that doesn’t guarantee he’ll remain on spot-kicks. His attacking involvement also offers several opportunities for points, even without a goal.
- Finn Azaz takes another midfield spot for Southampton’s trip to Preston. Saints have one of the strongest attacking fixtures this week, and Azaz can contribute goals and assists. I’m happy pairing him with Schlotterbeck, as both offer different opportunities for returns.
- Middlesbrough’s Amario Cozier-Duberry completes my midfield ahead of the trip to Watford. Boro have an excellent attacking fixture, and I want a player who can benefit from their goalscoring potential. However, if Will Lankshear is fit, I’ll bring him in instead and switch to a 2-2-2 formation. I’ll wait for confirmation of his fitness before making that decision.
- Jarrod Bowen gets my captaincy against Blackburn Rovers. He played the full match in midweek, although that doesn’t guarantee another 90 minutes. Blackburn away won’t necessarily be straightforward, but Bowen offers both goalscoring and creative potential. I’d rather back my preferred player than chase a differential for the sake of it.
- Southampton are my first club pick ahead of their trip to Preston. They have excellent attacking potential and a reasonable chance of keeping a clean sheet. With Azaz and Schlotterbeck already selected, I’m heavily backing Southampton to deliver this week.
- Sheffield United complete my club selections for their trip to Charlton Athletic. Their clean-sheet potential appeals, even if their attacking prospects aren’t quite as strong as Southampton’s. They also allow me to spread my selections across another promising fixture.
- As always, my team remains subject to change once the starting lineups become available.
