A weekend brace in Belgiumโ€™s 5-0 victory over Cyprus, followed by the opener in this evening’s clash with Israel, has continued Marouane Fellainiโ€™s recent renaissance. Having struggled to make an impact since arriving at Old Trafford at the start of last season, the former Everton man is belatedly winning over the Old Trafford faithful as Louis van Gaalโ€™s side close in on a top four finish.

With Robin van Persie sidelined through injury since Gameweek 27, Van Gaalโ€™s decision to move to 4-3-3 and hand Fellaini a spot on the left of midfield has helped United register four successive wins, including back-to-back victories over top-four rivals Spurs and Liverpool in the last couple of Gameweeks. Whilst Juan Mataโ€™s brace at Anfield has persuaded over 28,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to snap up his services, Fellaini โ€“ despite serving up a 13-point haul in his previous home appearance โ€“ has made his way into just 4,000 new teams.

As United prepare for the weekend visit of Villa, we take a look at Fellainiโ€™s displays in the four match-winning streak without the stricken Van Persie. Delving into the data, we assess his performances against his previous numbers and also compare them to his team-mates and fellow midfielders alike.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

If it makes you feel any happier I spent all week pushing the top one and then ignored him because of this DGW/blank nonsense, they really do wreck the game a bit...I suspect that was part of why you held off on Giroud, was it ?

I'm ashamed to admit that I was talked out of it by FFS..basically because "Giroud can't keep it up and has Liverpool and a DGW and Aguero is Aguero he'll come good" instead of trusting myself..but I made the moves in the end so it's my fault!

motto for the rest of the season is I'm not going to get feedback on any moves, just go with my gut, testing it as a method for next season

That is a tricky one. The midfield is the trickiest of all at the moment.
Mata seems hot right now, but I wouldn't lose any of those players for him.

Bellerin is a dodgy one as he's cheap and its tough down there to get a good replacement.

He's been injured. He will start as soon as he returns from injury. Debuchy is first choice there is no doubt about it. Even Chambers has been starting ahead of Bellerin lately. Besides, Arsenal have a blank soon so losing one of them isn't such a bad idea.

Valid point from Sinik above, about trusting your gut rather than following the FFS crowd consensus. I'm aware that many others have made a similar point before but it's much better to blame yourself if something goes wrong but also so much sweeter when your own judgement proves to be the best choice!

Some people are more impressionable than others. In my first season on FFS I made the mistake of putting too much faith in the judgement of others and fell victim to some really bad bandwagons. Its important to have your own compass and filter through the advice of others, taking each opinion with a grain of salt. Healthy skepticism is important when canvassing opinions to inform your own judgement.

In saying all that it can also swing too far the other way. Humility is also important because sometimes we can be wrong and the community proven right.

I never really listen to anybody in terms of picks. I take the easy way out and avg a hit a week based on stats only, either in terms of threat or ease of fixtures (hence I have Kompany for example)...Wherever I end up is wherever I end up, but it's just playing the game in a way that kinda makes sense.

I guess so, it was quite a few years ago over which the league has become more physically demanding so it would be safe to assume.

He was never the quickest but he still had a bit of zip, has none of that and he moves the ball so slowly its painful sometimes. Hence why he looks so poor in the position now because people run past him like he isn't there. I really like him but don't think he should be our captain

I think the issue is how he is utilised. He was never prolific as a CM really, at PSG or at Rangers. Then he moved CAM, I think at PSG and at Everton and was excellent. Always think of him as the first prototype of Fabregas. I dislike him being played in the role he is now, though I do think he's an experienced leader!

    Bertrand/Kosc/Terry (PVA/Haidara)
    Haz/Sanchez/Sterling/Eriksen (Walters)
    Kun/Giroud/Kane

    A) hold 1ft
    B) Sanchez > Silva
    C) Sterling > ?
    D) Kosc > Toby

Currently on A and will wait to do a double move next week, likely B + Haidara to Toby. Thoughts appreciated. Cheers

          I meant Pool ๐Ÿ˜‰

Moreno, Manquillo, Enrique, Flanno, GJ (though I accept he's on the way out).

Plus they don't really play full backs, wing backs allow wingers/fast players to play there so Markovic, I've, Sterling etc.

          Think they've enough options ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cork is a safer bet here, both solid options though. There's not much in it tbh apart from Bentaleb playing for the better team. Bentaleb plays slightly higher up the pitch fwiw and is more creative, while Cork may get more clean sheet points over the course of the season

Townsend thinks he's the English Robben...

"It was really nice," he said. "It's no secret there's been criticism of my call-up to squad - as usual - but every time I've put on an England shirt I've always done myself justice.

"That's my third goal in seven caps and it was really important to come on and silence a few critics. I've done that, and I'm proud of my personal performance.

      Mane or Siggy, IMO

I rate Fella over Mata right now, Mata's on YYT levels right now, I'm not biting

Thanks guys. Thesis really a hard transfer as not going with Sanchez there is always a risk especially Burnley coming up. Really have no clue which way to go.

If I go Siggy I might be able to free up more cash for Costa and upgrading a defender for the run in. Probably look at bringing in another Arsenal player GW35
