634x258 Suspensions

There were two newcomers to the Suspension Tightrope after last weekend’s Premier League action, with London-based pair Joey Barton and Winston Reid picking up their ninth yellows of the campaign. Sebastian Larsson toppled off the edge, having received his tenth yellow for pulling at the shirt of Newcastle striker Emmanuel Riviere in the Wear-Tyne derby – the Swedish midfielder now sits out the Black Cats’ home tie against Crystal Palace in Gameweek 32 and their visit to Stoke City in Gameweek 34 after the Wearsiders’ blank.

Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ciaran ClarkPhil Bardsley, Victor Wanyama and Neil Taylor remain just one ill-judged challenge shy of a two-match suspension, with the yellow card limit set to increase to 15 after the April 12 cut-off date.

Jack Colback accrued his 11th yellow this term (all awarded in league ties) at the Stadium of Light and could join a select few players who have tallied 11 or more in the last five seasons. Unsurprisingly, Lee Cattermole is one of the two that’s achieved the feat, earning 13 (ten in the league) in 2011/12. The other is Cheick Tiote, who surpassed the mark in 2010/11 with 14 league bookings, making him the only player to chalk up over 11 league yellows in a single season over the last five years. Should Colback manage to pick up a further four yellows in the Magpies’ final seven clashes, he’ll receive a three-match ban that would carry over to next season. Alan Hutton (eight in the league), Gareth Barry (nine league) and the aforementioned Cattermole (ten league) comprise the chasing pack on ten cautions apiece.

Moving on to the newly-suspended players, West Bromwich Albion enforcer Youssuf Mulumbu was handed a red card for elbowing Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton – the DR Congo international misses the Baggies next three matches (LEI, cry, LIV) and will return in Gameweek 35 in time for a trip to Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Hull City midfielder David Meyler received a straight red for a lunging tackle on Swansea City’s Kyle Naughton three minutes into their encounter at the Liberty Stadium – the Ireland international sits out the Tigers’ upcoming trio of fixtures (sou, LIV, cry) and will be back in contention when they entertain Arsenal in Gameweek 35.

Toon skipper Fabricio Coloccini serves out the last match of his ban in Gameweek 32 and will be available for the Tynesiders’ home clash against Tottenham the following weekend. Mile Jedinak, Tom Huddlestone and Craig Dawson return to their teams in the next wave of fixtures to face Sunderland, Southampton and Leicester City, respectively.

Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel serve the second of their respective three-match bans in tomorrow night’s cup replay at Blackburn. The duo will also miss next Monday’s home clash against Newcastle and will return to action the following weekend – depending on the outcome of their Ewood Park encounter, that fixture will either be an FA Cup Semi-Final against Aston Villa or a Gameweek 33 trip to Hull.

Papiss Cisse and Jonny Evans remain stuck in the stands after their spitting altercation in Gameweek 28.

Urgent assistance needed....lost 40 points of my 70 point ML this weekend, crisis.

What needs to be done with this team?

    Myhill

    Lescott Ivan Bertrand Naughton PvA

    Haz Silva Erik Ki Ozil

    Aguero Kane Giroud

Thinking Eriksen to someone as he's not doing anything, maybe fabregas, hendo/sterling or mata...

This is the reply I got from FPL after complaining about it...

      Hello,

Points awarded by Opta within Fantasy Premier League are calculated using additional stats which may differ from other websites. For example, some other sites would not show an assist where a player has won a penalty. Some other sites may deem a goal to be an own goal by one player where as other sites may suggest otherwise.

For the avoidance of doubt, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments to points will be made.

      Regards,
      Fantasy Premier League Support

Ridiculous. The assist was even removed from the stat site yesterday.

Seen today for the first time in HD.
      Line of action:

1 - Austin trys to pass in the direction of Barton
2 - Fletcher intercepts it, with his left leg changing the initial direction of the ball
3 - Fletcher touches it with his right heel to Joey Barton.

Thats 2 touches after a potential pass from Austin.
That should not count as an assist. Period.

PS: but it's there. Done and dusted. Let's move on.

        2. & 3. were done in one act, deeming them one motion and as (you quite correctly identified) the initial attempt was a pass and because it occurred inside the penalty box, the assist is therefore granted.

Eh. You have hazard and ivan or terry besides that who is a clear better option? Fabregas only one that comes to mind

      Sounds awful.

Even Bony & Aguero isn't great. Everyone knows Aguero is better on his own.

What about shipping him in this very week ?

Got a problem with a few injuries, are any of these expected to be out for next gw/a while?

    Koscielny
    Cork
    Naughton

Naughton is probably a few GW by the sounds of things. Couldn't walk off the pitch.
      Can't comment on the others.

    GW34 WC RMT
    Davis - Schmeichel
    Terry - Skrtel - Bertrand - Monreal - Duff
    Hazard - Silva - Ozil - Henderson - Boyd
    Kun - Giroud - Kane 0.5itb

Just thinking maybe West Ham is worth a look? And also if Duff is nailed on again?

so let's speculate for a moment that Liverpool scrape through on Wed and end up with a DGW37.

what's your ideal GW37 team going to look like?

    Panti
    Ivan, Skrtel, Kosc
    Hazard, Silva, Coutinho, Ozil
    Sturridge, Giroud, Kane

    Pant. Krul
    Terry. Clyne. Dawson. Naughton. Hutton
    Haz. Silva. Eriksen, Siggy, Boyd.
    Kane. Costa. Austin

Was going Austin - Kun, but looks like Costa, Naughton. Hutton are out and only have 1 FT

Thinking Costa - Kun (this week), Schlupp - Hutton or Naughton (next) and play 4-4-2 for GW33

    Krul (TOT)
Terry (MU), Clyne (lei), Schlupp (SWAN), Dawson (cp)
Haz (MU), Silva (WH), Eriksen (new), Siggy (lei)
    Kun (WH), Kane (new)

Subs Boyd (eve), Naugton (lei) if fit
    Blanks Pant, Austin

Is that team strong enought for week with 7 or 8 fixtures ?.
