Okay, a little clarification here on how Team Eire 'cheated' again, after the signing-players-too-quickly-for-Shadow's-liking fiasco.

Okay, as we can say, Numb has a second team, and uses THAT team on this FFS link for certain 'personal' reasons - that team was not created for the game, as the rules tell you. But then again, to clarify if the second team was even eligible for the competition, Numb wrote one long e-mail to the organisers, to which a reply was made 'Noted'. I am not blaming ENR here, he has so many e-mails around these times, that it is easy to overlook.

So, all-in-all, the Numb team made it to the game, played normally last week, and took a -60 this week, was benched (as ENR always encourages such big hits), and was hence noted by the others.

So, to avoid the repercussions of the 'cheating', I have decided to withdraw Numb's team from the competition, and since he won't enter his 1st team for the aforesaid 'personal reasons', we will do without that team. And since he wouldn't use the team after the -60 week, it is fair to say we have failed to take advantage of our 'cheat act'.

And hence, according to Shadow's likes and dislikes, we will decide to get a new 15th member or play the rest of the tournament with 14 players.

    Cheers,
    Saniul.

Hey mate. Sorry to see it pan out this way. Dont know what game he was playing or what but a minus 60 does make it look like setting it up especially for this tournament and I would be against having teams like that in general.

Shame this wasn't sorted out pre-tournament and just an unfortunate series of events. Wishing Team Ireland all the bes whatever comes of it.

Sincere apologies for the confusion again Team Ireland. Also to clarify:

      1) his email had 2 parts. replied "noted" to the first bit and ignoring the contents of the second and more crucial part #Fail

      2) Im fine with folks taking hits with their team when they're benched. In fact that's a good strategy. But it's so easy to take those hits with a "second team" and something that one may not consider doing with their first team.

My mistake for not reading emails. Completely. Sorry.

Yep for sure Gnu. Our rules currently state that "No new FPL teams created for this purpose will be tolerated."

Although the intent of this rule was to prevent "second teams", it doesn't cover those that are created well before the start of the cup. Somewhat of a loophole, which we'll tweak in the next Cup.

Good on Ireland for taking it well though.

The most relevant part is where ENR "replied 'noted' to the first bit and ignored the contents of the second and more crucial part".

ENR, the 'Head Organiser' of the competition, knew about the special circumstances and gave he all clear before the tournament even started. He failed to read his emails properly and now a member of our team is being punished just for his else's mistake?

I echo Badgers comments above however FPL make it very clear that it's one person one team and a rule that I think makes the game more enjoyable.
The council rules are there but regardless of that the FPL rules are pretty clear in themselves.
I'm not naive in thinking that people don't have Wives or Brothers teams but it shouldn't be condoned either.

In future can we have more than one person receiving emails of this kind ENR? Its much harder for two to make the same innocent mistake.

Can Numb not continue to play, just not take 60pt hits every other week?

Yeah that would be ideal isn't it. Unfortunately, everyone's busy with all sorts of life things (when is the last time you saw anyone else from the team?). Essentially, it's just Billy and myself running the show from the front. I know we've managed to portray a very rosy state of affairs with the success of these cups over the last 2-3 years, but that's the reality.

I guess my "noted" reply to this email suggests clearly that I didn't think this was a significant correspondence 😆

Normally in these situations I would say it is no big deal, play on with him and his first team. After all it is only a bit of fun , nobody died. Although I give out some banter it is genuinely done with tongue in cheek and only try and do it with those who play it that way.
On this occasion I think it isn't justified.
firstly both your explanation and hvt claim that it is an honest mistake suggest you are trying to imply innocence on numbs behalf. Which obviously this wasn't, he clearly set up this team well in advance with the aim of pretending it is his main team for this event.
The thought is even going through my head that, how you have been in continuous communication since the last tourney that perhaps it was supported by others.
Secondly I don't see why you seem to want to keep blaiming ENR for this, numb set up a second team and planned to abuse the event by using it.

Overall I think it is really crap thing to do, people take part in this for the fun and banter. ENR and BB give up a lot of time to organise this and take a bit of abuse from others because they defend the people who take part. This is how you repay them.

As I said at start nobody died so everyone will move on but hopefully in future everyone try to take part in the spirit these events are set up for.

The claims of innocence only apply to allowing Numb a second team in the first place. Taking a 60 point hit with that second team to gain an advantage in subsequent weeks, and 14 team mates keeping quiet about it is the scandal.
        It's like watching a team with 15 Thomass-es 🙂

JTD, you are assuming that both Numb and Team Eire had mal-intentions which wasn't the case. The circumstances and situations were disclosed in a previous email to ENR, to which he recognised this and responded with the all clear. The failure was when he later brought up the 'issue' as a problem which has now been recognised as a mistake in his part. The fact is, Numb and Team Eire shouldn't have to be punished just for someone else's mistake. Of course our 'rivals' want the maximum sentence and punishment because they clearly want to see us suffer and take the enjoyment out of what was supposed to be a 'fun' competition.

So you once you saw Numb taking a 60 point his to set his team up for future gameweeks you personally reported the shenanigans to ENR? Fair play then.

I would suggest by creating a team weeks in advance to take major hits does bring questions to his intentions. Clearly some if not all of the team knew this was a second team. Yes you could argue that he could get permission to enter this team which was misunderstood. But the fact remains these events were set up with the intention of people playing their main teams so they would suffer if they chose to take big hits.
No matter who misunderstood what, there is a moral thing happening by choosing to do this, which considering the teams stance on previous moral issues makes it worse.
Again if the mistake in entering the team on th sheet hadn't happened the team would have continued to abuse the rules by using this team.
I would suggest by doing this you are not seeing this as a fun competition that should be played in a fair and honest manner.
As I say normally I would say move on, but your team seems to adopting a completely innocent attitude which isn't really true.

A little nugget from behind-the-scenes yesterday. The Live Scorecard this GW is brought to you by Starbucks.

Usually, once all the team sheets are in, I compile the array/code/whatever for Pratik and send it to him. Which I did. Guess what? There was power outage at Pratik's place for a good portion of yesterday. So the committed individual he is, Prats went to the nearest Starbucks for free wifi. He then got it live.

Only to find out an hour later, Scotland had 12 players showing on the scorecard. So he went back to Starbucks again and updated the site 😆

Today's message - Down with Costa. Go Starbucks!

The Indian phrase would be 'Ganta hero!' Basically translates to "No hero at all!" and its not me being modest either 🙂

The crux of the code was done long back, to be precise I think it was Euro 2012. It's basically been minor improvements, and tbh the reaction from most people, really spurs me to do this.

Btw @Enr, I was just browsing through emails, do you remember this video -: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nueFGh-VdS4 🙂

        Was just retrospectively thinking.

Your two striker slots have been crazy good throughout the year. Even when Costa was injured in his first spell or Kane had a blank, Cisse delivered for you. Now Murray 🙄

I don't think anyone can really compete with a player who has the two top goalscorers in the league. Any other season, I'd probably be leading by now. But you killed the competition pretty much at the draft stage, in hindsight.

I don't know if you read the whole text, vets.

If it was their mistake, obviously, we wouldn't let them recruit another player. It so happens Numb checked with me, I misinterpreted the email and my reply unintentionally gave him the green light to use his "second team". Owing to an organizer mistake, I see no other option.

On a sidenote, they haven't broken the current set of rules which state that "No new FPL teams created for this purpose will be tolerated." - Although the intent of this rule was to prevent "second teams", it doesn't cover those that are created well before the start of the cup. Somewhat of a loophole, which we'll tweak in the next Cup.

Hope you understand. If not, happy to carry on discussing (via email preferably). Cheers.

        ENR,

We all know what the rules mean and people finding loopholes for what is meant to be a friendly game with a bit of banter thrown in is ridiculous and childish.... Saying they sent an email and you overlooked is somewhat of a cop out in my opinion.... Just be honest say you were bending the rules, say sorry and move on....

The question I ask is why is it in the human nature to cheat....?

Team Scotland is currently operating with effectively 13 players and you don't see JTD complaining

Unfortunately, I can see how this has panned out for the neutrals who haven't been able to see the full picture. Now that he took the hits, it looks as if they've used the "second team" to Ireland's advantage.

These "personal reasons" as to why he actually used the second team are actually stated in the second part of the the email which he sent prior to the tourney, where he asked permission whether he can use this team. So I can safely confirm they didn't have the intention of cheating.

If he only had one team, it is highly unlikely he would have taken these hits though....That is the bottom line...

I am not saying some on here wouldn't do something like this to help their team out but only if they don't take the game seriously....

Everyone fecks up once in a while, just ask Thomass, but when you are blatantly caught out hold your hands up for fecks sake... Don't say things like we will be recruiting another player shortly and ignore what you have tried to do....

"via email preferably"? Let's keep it all open and honest to avoid other misunderstandings, shall we? I'd also like to hear other's views on this.

I have no problem with anyone using a 2nd team if they want to play fairly... but to change your whole squad by taking hits because you don't care about your OR as you started in GW14 is not playing fairly.

As for not breaking the rules... I also don't care about that as this is a community competition and would expect everyone in it to show respect to their fellow competitors, and what Numb and the Ireland management have done is totally against the spirit of the game and the community. I can't believe they actually sanctioned the move. I assume, by the rules, Numb is allowed to take a 60 point hit every other week to get the best possible team 50% of the time.

I love the deviousness of some in these competitions but this is taking things way too far.

I await to see the response of the Ireland management, too see if they are doing to "do the right thing".

For the record, South Africa fully support Ireland recruiting a new member.

It will give someone else the opportunity to play and there is no reason why this member would be any stronger fpl wise than any of us already playing.

Also, South Africa are going to win this tournament regardless of this, so we see no reason not to let Ireland do this.

Its a friendly competition with no prize. Why let this ruin the game for 14 members of team Ireland. Sure the recruiting was a mistake, lets live and learn.

The reason Ginkapotation came about was because I saw a loop hole in the rules. I asked ENR if this was supposed to be a loophole. He did not respond so i went ahead and recruited more than XI players. Was what I did wrong? Should we have been disqualified from the competition? Or should we as did happen, act quickly to comply?

How is just having 14 players ruining the game for them?

Team Pakistan signed Doos assuming he'd never touch his team thus putting us at a disadvantage. Now he's changed his team we're at even more of a disadvantage as we have no idea what changes he's making 😆

That's all fine because we knew it was THE RIGHT THING TO DO.

The issue here from my viewpoint is not the obvious circumvention of the rules; as an organiser gave the go-ahead to a second team I can forgive that. The issue is the blatant misuse of the second team. Taking (-60) is not in the spirit of the game and they should not be rewarded for their lack of sportsmanship. Their punishment should be to serve out the remainder of the competition with 14 men instead of being gifted the ability to sign a player outside of the scouting period as this clearly gives them an advantage over other teams that abided by the rules. I thought I'd chime in with my thoughts 🙂

My view on this is as at the top of the page Lawro.

Im fine with folks taking hits with their team when they're benched. In fact that's a good strategy. It's part of the game. But it's so easy to take those hits with a "second team" and something that one may not consider doing with their first team.

So you have a valid point if you mean - Taking (-60) "with that second team" is not in the spirit of the game.

Ireland have made a mistake and giving an excuse that the organizers didn't say anything to stop it doesn't work for me. We all clearly know the rules that any kind of second teams are not allowed so why even ask for it.

They need to be punished for their actions and my suggestion for a punishment is a 2-3 match ban for Numb where he can not make any transfers. Let Ireland play with 14 members through his suspension period and if they get to the knockouts then fair play to them. Numb can join them back but he can't make a single transfer on his second team for the period he will be suspended.

    *Statement from the WI captain*

As captain of the WI team, I would like to apologise for my dismal run record in this round of the tournament. The fans deserve better.

After training all week, I let myself down a minute after deadline when I downed a bottle of jaeger and spent the rest of the day chasing squirrels up trees and pretending I was a pigeon.

This was an oversight on my part as I forgot to run.

The bottle of tequila that followed did not aid my innings. Nor did the delicious bourbon I enjoyed whilst standing on an ice cube and pretending I was a walrus.

In short, 14 points is an unacceptable tally and I will make sure this does not happen again.

Right after I've finished this chardonnay.

      Public safety announcement

The West Indies cricket team were notified of "a strange man chasing imaginary squirrels" in the teams hotel grounds shortly after deadline.

Az was later found curled up, clenching a bottle of Ultra-Premium Ley .925 Pasion Azteca. It is believed this was provided by a known member of the UAE team, it's not sure what tricks they are tried to play. This matter will be investigated further I. Due course.

Az was taken safely back to his room, after a heated argument with a lamppost. It is believed Az thought said lamppost was Ronald Koeman, and made it clear exactly his thoughts on resting Clyne.

Az drifted off to sleep, after pleading with the bed side table for a Remy hattrick.

Team scotland made a mistake by recruiting someone who then had to go abroad to work, probably somewhere without a Starbucks.
We pointed this out prior to tourney starting, I said in the spirit of the event it would be unfair for us to recruit someone else as it was after the deadline, even though no games had been played.

We did this also in a previous tourney and played without a player.

I am sure anyone who has managed a team has experienced players who stop communicating or posting their team changes, so that is in effect playing with one down.

Why should someone who has obviously tried to abuse the game by using a spare team, doesn't matter how long ago they set it up, be allowed to be replaced?
If this posting mistake hadn't happened would they have continued to use this false team?

I would suggest they even get deducted points, if they actually get any?

Not sure if someone not communicating should be a problem. Yes you dont knw their captain choice but you still have a 90% idea of their team for the coming week

No Remy means, exclusing the other points off the bench already accounted for

    Ireland get Bellerin 6, Dawson 1, Boyd 2, Puncheon 2 and Wollscheid 2 = 13pts

    UAE get Wollscheid 2, Ameobi *, Boyd 2, Mahrez 1, Phillips * = 5 + Ameobi and Philips

    True Story:
Yesterday evening my friends introduced me to their new room mate. Unfortunately at the same time i was checking the live score card and was sweaing "bloody Saffers!' under my breath. The guy looked at me with shock.
    Any guesses on his nationality?

If my calculations are correct it's:

Pakistan: Krul, Moreno and Sturridge x2

      West Indies: 47pts

So if Sturridge scores four goals we're in with a chance 😆

The aguero goal has given us alittle bit boost altough the whole tie depends on sturridge's blank.
