Remember all of the questions (I asked, too!) about which mid to get for Sanchez, and which forward to get for Remy? They all blanked. Murray, Vardy, Yaya, Fabregas, Bolasie, puncheon, Lennon. I think the best move turned out to be from those who took a one week punt on Baines and Howard. And so it goes...

    Hardest decisions of the week...

I'm on wildcard and planned on no Aguero but keeping Silva. The reason for no Aguero is I don't think he's value at 12.5 when City play 4-2-2-2.

Trouble is, they have played 4-2-3-1 in the last 2 games. Predictably he has scored in both. If he's going to play in that position I want him more than Silva.

The question is what will Pellegrini do when Bony is fit? I'm going to have to take a punt one way or the other based on insufficient evidence. Does the 4-2-3-1 today (he could have played Dzeko) indicate a change of heart? Will Bony just walk back in, after all Pellegrini paid £28m for him?

It's a crazy situation and it's similar with Rooney. Will Carrick be back allowing him to play up front? Does he continue in midfield? Does LVG consider Falcao played well enough to keep his place?

If they are in their right positions I want both Rooney and Aguero. If they are in their 'wrong' positions I want neither. :/

Hey Ruth. I'm on WC, and am keeping Aguero and selling Silva. I need to slot in midfield for dgw players where there seems to be more dgw opportunities. Not so much in the forward spot. Kun does eat up a lot of franchise value though...

      1. Ruth_NZ
        • 11 Years

There are a lot of implications. If I go with Aguero I will end up with Ospina/Ramsey/Ozil as my 3 Arsenal for GW37. If I go with Silva I will end up with Ospina/Sanchez/Giroud. I prefer the combination with Silva.

If City play 4-2-3-1 going without Aguero is senseless and I wouldn't want to. It's one or other, Silva or Aguero, and the knock-on effect of the decision complicates it even more.

    4. Rhinos

If City are playing 4-2-3-1, yes he will. If 4-2-2-2 no, he won't. Not in my opinion.

No matter what formation is played, if Silva is fit he is likely to get a piece of whatever action Aguero also gets. For me that was definitely the best option to have Silva, even if it didn't pay off! I don't think it's a great idea to have both.. choosing one over the other frees up more spaces for differentials so I guess it comes down to where you see better opportunities in terms of replacements. Midfielders versus Strikers.

I think with the way strikers are going, Aguero is a safe option. Maybe the best punts are actually in midfield right now?

I think you should consider keeping Agüero, the goal threat numbers for 4-2-2-2 and 4-2-3-1 are not particularly different, indeed todays game despite Agüero scoring has brought them closer together. Even if you are correct and playing 2 upfront is harmful to Agüero I think you could really regret not owning him, as I don't think he suddenly becomes Carlton Cole because he's playing with a strike partner and he has previously thrived in that system.

You might want to consider the amount of penalties won in games where Agüero has played with a strike partner, and games he has played on his own up front, then ask yourself is this causal or is it just a random factor.

Earlier in the season, someone I know benched Hazard away at Southampton, on the basis that his points scores were poor away and good at home, and that Southampton was a hard fixture. At the time Hazard had 3 assists and no goals away, and 6 goals and two assists at home. Lots told him not to, and Hazard went on to score.

I know that it's your team and all, but I am just offering my thoughts. Would be interested to see what you are looking at doing with the wildcard in more detail. 😀

      1. Carlos Kickaball
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 9 months ago

To supplement this, I looked it up and Agüero has score 3 pens when in a game he stater on his own upfront, and only 1 when he's been part of a strike partnership.

Thanks and I appreciate it. I think I will bring in Aguero and lose Silva. The upside (in my view) if City play 4-2-3-1 is bigger that way and Bony may be out a while, he wasn't even on the bench this week.

My next dilemma is Rooney or Benteke. Seems an odd comparison but I saw for myself how good Rooney is in midfield yesterday. Not as a FPL player, just as a footballer. He plays like Ramsey but he's a class above. I can now understand the attraction for LVG of playing him there and that means I wouldn't want him in my FPL team.

If I go with Rooney I get Skrtel, Sterling and subsequently Sanchez.
If I go with Benteke I get Moreno, Coutinho and subsequently Ozil.

In other words the other options are better with Benteke and I think Sherwood has him firing now, plus Villa have a FA Cup Final to keep them keen as well as very good fixtures in 35, 36 and 38. I hate to say it but I think I may take the Benteke route, the possibility of Rooney being back in midfield swings it. Any thoughts on that?

On the full wildcard I'll send you an email when I get the chance. Not going to post it on here because people will just tell me to get a team more like theirs. 😉

Options are the other way around of course.

If I go with Benteke I get Skrtel, Sterling and subsequently Sanchez.
If I go with Rooney I get Moreno, Coutinho and subsequently Ozil.

Was gonna say....a little confused at first.

Have to wait on Carrick news but Benteke all the way if Rooney is playing midfield.

I'll look out for your mail.

I think that Benteke is bound to regress a little, he's scored 8 of his last 9 on target shots in the Premier League with a little help from DDG and Panti, but he could still have reasonably had 4-5 goals.

I would go with Benteke, because I think Sánchez can come in big. Personally I am trying to decide between Coutinho and Sterling, and I think I'm slowly edging towards a punt on Coutinho, because despite having more assists and goals per minute Sterling often looks like he couldn't finish a sandwich. 😆

Will Spurs and Soton fight for that 6th spot to secure Europa or rely on Arsenal beating Villa? About to transfer out Eriksen, Mane, Clyne...

True. Utd avoided it deliberately last season. Koeman has been saying he wants Europe football.

sell smalling, duff, vlaar, pants imo.

not sure sanchez is the best asset this week when others have a DGW and he has the toughest fixture

I think Smalling could be a good pick after the DGW

decent goal threat, United looking better defensively, you'll only use him for

        WBA, CPL, HUL
