With the Gameweek already behind us, we cast an eye over some of the stand-out statistics from Saturday and Sunday’s fixtures. Palace’s wastefulness in front of goal, Leicester’s wide men, City’s main men against the Hammers and Everton’s playmaker are amongst this evening’s topics.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Which option?

    A) Siggy to Henderson
    B) Siggy and özil to Henderson and Sterling for -4

Not quite sure it's worth to get rid of özil.

    Krul (Pantillimon)

    Skrtl, Terry, Demichellis (PVA, Alderweilder)

Hazard (c) Fabregas Sterling, Cambiasso, Silva

Hope so.. i see DBL gw as -2pts hits rather than -4pts So should be able to make those -8pts back easily as Moses is injured, Eriksen is crap and Dawson is also injured.

Im amazed that the opportunity cost forgone with some of these "DGW" players, been plenty of occasions where a single gameweek player can outscore. Seen Albrighton starting instead of Sanchez....Cambiasso instead of Silva.

      1. Guidinho
        • 15 Years

That was more of an anomaly that there was a 3-3 in the dgw game, I'm seeing talk about how attacking Leicester are but everyone omitting the are playing Chelsea. I genuinely think there is a more than 50% chance Austin will outscore Vardy this week.

        1. Gross Misconduct
          • 10 Years

But they're also playing Burnley in a game where both teams have to go for it. Could easily end up 3-3.

            • 15 Years
            10 years, 9 months ago

Thats my point, all of a sudden people are just depending on the returns of actually one game. People taking hits to get Leicester players could have just picked/kept single game week players with good fixtures without a 2 point deficit.

Also Burnley would not allow a game to be high scoring as they know they will lose.

            1. Gross Misconduct

Villa also had ManU in their DGW iirc. So, using your logic, loads of people avoided Benteke and got burned.

                10 years, 9 months ago

As mentioned before Benteke is a proven goal scorer and international calibre player, people are taking hits for Vardy and Nugent. I reiterate I am all for DGW players either if they are really good players or have good fixtures. As far as I see it you have average Leicester players with one good fixture, tying into my original point that you could achieve that easily without taking hits.

OK, I missed the "hits" part. I was looking at it from a WC perspective.

Well, for me, it's Vardy instead of (@ Southampton) Kane. I think 2 games to 1 is very much an advantage even for average guys against studs. Then, we can always get the studs back with a FT or two. I think selective drafting of DGW players, especially if no hits are involved, can make sense depending the star player who is being replaced, opponent, form, etc.

I do kinda agree. DGW's are over rated but they can be advantageous too. You just need to not get carried away... I guess.

      1. Guidinho
        • 15 Years

I think thats the key. With the Villa/QPR everyone knew that Benteke and Austin were good players but people drafting in Leicester defence and Cambiasso are suffering from DGW fever

No. Only a Man United fan would say yes.

Its a strong side but there's so much wrong here. Hummels isn't a RCB. Where's your defensive mid? ADM magically going to play like Hazard? Depay isn't going to walk straight into the 11 until the futures of RVP/Falcao are solved.

Arsenal & Chelsea have better teams and better managers. The best United can do is solidify themselves in the CL.

Got 2 Fts and basically doing Eriksen to Sterling for sure.. not sure what to do with the other one/take a hit and i admit i need a little help with this one.. so
    MIGNOLET
    TERRY Fonte Toby(!)
    STERLING HAZARD(c) Silva Phillips
    REMY Aguero Kane
    Myhill Mane Bellerin(!) Dawson(!)
    4.2 in the bank
    1 FT
    Assuming Remy is fit
    A) Bellerin/Toby to Skrtel(want to get rid of Bellerin since i want 2 arsenal attackers for the double)
    B) Bellerin/Toby to Huth and Mane to Henderson(-4)

Which of the above sounds better?

it could or it could not

none of us have a crystal ball

we only have 15 spots, if you factor in that one will be Hazard and one will be a budget a probably 2 Pool mids that leaves one

at some point you will want an Arsenal mid, maybe even 2. if you're lucky enough to be able to afford a midfield of

Sanchez, Ramsey/Ozil, Silva, budget +1 then go for it. If on wc to me it makes more sense to chuck at least one Arsenal player on, if not 2.

          No risk no reward

There is no right or wrong way

Oh wait, this is FFS, conform or die

Hey JK.. I wish i had my WC to make a complete overhaul too. i'm just horrid at WC's though and i end up messing up a good long term strategy for very short term gains every time i WC 🙂 .. so i've grown a bit weary of it. Course it could go great.. and it most probably will. i'd still be a little scared of letting go of kane at his price though.

              Kane

              My argument here is simple

Am chasing someone with Giroud, Vardy, Kane

I can go with Kun, Vardy, Kane, but I'm gonna want Giroud at some point and I'll likely need a hit to make it happen. If I dump Kane on wc for Giroud it comes down to a straight fight between Kane for him and Kun for me and all I have to do is swap Sterling out for Ozil GW35 or 36 to get my 3rd Arsenal. Given the fixtures 2 Arsenal mids is a must for me. and by GW37 you'll likely lose Silva anyway, so for me keeping him when I have no value in him seems silly

I've saved the wc for a DGW like this, gotta maximise the opportunity. Everytime a DGW comes along there's always poor teams involved or games involving 2 big teams playing other

This leads to stuff like, oh don't bother wirth team x, they're no good, or team y as they play team Z. Yet very few times have DGWs failed to deliver

Silva is good but 2 opportunties for points always > 1 and i don't see Silva as the be all, end all.

        Sanchez. Hazard. Bolasie. Boyd.

Ive got 2.4 in the bank but I was going to get Terry/Skrtel in for Dawson.

Im actually 0.1 short of getting Terry!!

Would you just get Skrtel or take a hit bringing in a LIV Mid after all?

Planning on keeping Aguero till the end.. I may however swap Silva for Sanchez GW 37.. keeping my options open however. If you cant get Terry you may as well not get a chelsea defender. So Skrtel makes sense.. what does your defense look like though? make a transfer in a place your team actually needs it more. Your attack can cope over the next few weeks without a Pool mid.. not sure what state your defense is in though

I was thinking of Benteke for Aguero for the last 2-3 GW's so I could afford to bring in an extra ARS Midfielder. Tricky call.

                Ive got -
                Dawson, Bertrand, Schluup, PVA, Wollscheid.

So the only other 1 I could get rid of is Bertrand which is v.tempting. I could cope without having Bertrand for the next 2 GW's but he could come in handy for his next 2 games - lei & AVL.

@Chickenwithpeas. My wc team look a lot like yours:

    Schmeichel Panti
    Terry Cahill Moreno PvA Duff
    Hazard Silva Sterling Coutinho Albrighton
    Aguero Vardy Giroud

Reason why I have Cahill, Moreno and Albrighton over the more expensive options is to be able to transfer in Sanchez and Ramsey for Sterling and Coutinho directly. Decided not to get Opsina for same reason. Input?

I am foregoing Sanchez in favour of Ozil, not sure he's worth the 1.5m extra

Opsina looks a bargain and if you want Arsenal defence he is probably the best option but barring a peno save Ospina has a points ceiling of about 7

One goal for Ramsey/Ozil and you've already matched that

      1. Pringle
        • 12 Years
        10 years, 9 months ago

Agree with you. Arsenal scores for fun so think it is worth using all the spots in attack.

    2. Whazza
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 9 months ago

That's sound reasoning, maybe you've cracked it, not me 😀 I just know I want an Arsenal defensive player+Giroud since all their mids seem to get points, so getting Ospina now seems like the best way to get one. Sanchez can be tricky to get in, but if I really really want him, there's Ivan/Terry I can downgrade..

    Silva, Puncheon, Fabregas, Siggy
