This evening we roll out the sixth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup XI, as sponsored by Paddy Power, as well as the sixth round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup.

With Jonty’s (that’s me) defeat to The Flying Nugget there are no longer any former champions left in either the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI or the Members Cup V. My conqueror takes on johni00 in round six of the FFS Paddy Power Cup . Meanwhile there was better news for other FFScout team members. Mark eased past Bartowski to set up a round six tie with $D.K.$F.C, while Ryan beat Super-Hans and will face juniorkai next.

Jon Nurse was round five’s giant killer after seeing off 11th placed BegTets by just a one point margin. He will square up to half-turn volley in the next round.

The highest ranked surviving FFS Paddy Power Cup XI manager is 61st placed fuml_akimbo. I Just Did A Torres, who is ranked 96,583 has the unenviable task of taking him on in round six.

Other notable round six match ups include NeedleVor’s encounter with iceball and Corkyote’s tie with Eedee. The manager with the highest round four score was SIRARSELOT73, who wins £25 worth of free bets with Paddy Power.

In the Members Cup Needlevor was not so fortunate after losing out to Johni00, who is still in the running for winning both cups and takes on waltzingmatildas in round six.

Eye catching round six matches also include Billy Ketsu’s clash with Hasselbaink Forever and Tdubb05’s clash with Dr Rabotnicki. The Members Cup’s highest ranked remaining manager, 25th placed Everybody knows badgers love mashpotato, will takes on faux_C in round six.

The full sixth round draw for the FFS Paddy Power Cup XI can be found here. while the fifth round draw for the Members Scout Cup V can be found here.

Good luck to those involved in the weekend’s action. In the meantime, though, if you’re looking for more information on the Scout Cup schedule and prizes available, click this link for a more thorough rundown.

Ok this is what I have on wildcard so far, going to go 4-4-2 for DGWK...

    Courtois (Hamer)

Terry - Skrtel - Moreno - Schlupp (Bellerín)

    Hazard - Sanchez - Sterling - ?- ?

    Kun - ? - (Kane)

Either going to punt on Hernandez or Vardy as my second striker.

Don't know with those two midfielders - Would have 10.3 to fill them with Hernandez or 12.3 with Ulloa....

    Current team and on WC:

    Davis
    Dawson, Alder, Terry, Rose, Bruce
    Silva, Fab, Bolasie, Sanchez, Haz
    Aguero, Kane, Murray

    How does this look?

    Rose > Skrtel
    Bolasie > Hendo
    Silva > Sterling

since I'm already set on selling Kane I'm coming round more and more to the idea of 2 Leicester strikers, assuming Nugent is injured or fit for both

I think it has more upside than getting Cambiasso, but it does use an extra transfer, or I could even get Ozil over a budget mid and bench one in 35 before freeing up cash in 36 by downgrading Sterling

    My head hurts

IS IT WORTH TAKING A HIT FOR A DGW PLAYER?

Obviously it is impossible to know whether a specific hit will pay off in a specific Gameweek, but we have enough data over the course of this season to say whether it is *expected* to pay off, using Points Per Appearance (PPA).

I will use a few common examples of players that people may be thinking of taking out / bringing in for a hit - you can obviously do the same for any combination you are thinking of. I have doubled the expected points for the DGW players and taken off 4 for the hit to arrive at their expected points.

    Out:
    Sanchez: PPA 6.2
    Silva: PPA 5.7

    In:
    Sterling: PPA (5.8 x 2) - 4 = 5.8
    Henderson: PPA (5.2 x 2) - 4 = 5.2

In reality, the DGW expected scores for the DGW players should be reduced slightly as there is a chance that then player ends up not playing the second game due to suspension, injury and rotation is a bit more likely with 2 games close together.

The other factor to consider is whether you might want the player transferred out back soon after - this *may* end up costing another hit if something happens to one of your other players.

The only move from the example above *expected* to break even is Silva > Sterling and that's only assuming nothing happens to Sterling to stop him playing both games.

The picture may be different if you are planning to captain the DGW player brought in of course.

Conclusion: a hit for a DGW player is probably not worth it if you are taking out a decent player to do so.

I think you've got your maths wrong...

      "In:
      Sterling: PPA (5.8 x 2) - 4 = 5.8
      Henderson: PPA (5.2 x 2) - 4 = 5.2"

Oh b*llo*x yeah, well spotted, should be

        Sterling (4.9 x 2) - 4 = 5.8
        Hendo (4.6 x 2) - 4 = 5.2

        Totals are correct.

      Great tip!

Thinking about Silva->Sterling myself. Over the next two gameweeks before I'm bringing in Ramsey the fixture are:

      Silva: Villa (H), Spurs (A)
      Sterling: WBA (A), Hull (A), QPR (H)

Sterling has three matches where he can score big - especially if played upfront. Silva has only one if you see Spurs as a difficult away-match (may or may not be.)

What's your advice? Hold Silva or bring in Sterling? (already got Aguero, Moreno and Hendo)

Of course he can, no one knows.

As spotted by JK, the workings for the Liverpool players are wrong but the totals are right, should say...
