Good options if you're chasing. If you're leading, I'd strongly recommend Sanchez and Giroud given their high ownership among the top teams. A single goal by one of them could significantly hurt you.

Nope, I have been picking the obvious ones throughout that time period. Guess my key to success was having double Chelsea and Southampton defence come good, and then a WC this week.
Yes. Even though it's risky, the results you get from a defence double-up are immense. Are you sticking with those two teams or mixing it up now for the run in?

Really hard to say, I've not changed strategy or anything, just have patience with players, don't knee jerk too much, and trust your instinct on captaincy (one of the reasons I plummeted was changing captaincy against my gut). Quality players almost always come good. Also, plan ahead, always check fixtures.

Will have them both for the double...With the form he's in, I'd keep Vardy -- especially with them playing Newcastle this weekend.
I don't use fff that much but whenever I do half the the time I can't log in using fpl ID. Is there some way around this that I'm missing?

So, much like Jonty I have basically managed to languish around the same rank for weeks on end now and am currently ~2.8k, so not too shabby.
Question is this: do I play out the season and consolidate another top 5k (probably higher) finish -or do I push on with slightly more risky play and try to get into the top 1k? (currently 34 points off that target - achievable but not without risk of slipping down the ranks).I gambled last season and went from about 1500 to 4k in 2 weeks. I'm playing it safe this time.
Yeh that is the risk. I will say this, if I go for the riskier option it wont be super risky, it would be more calculated risk - for example I think theres a very good chance that losing Kane is actually the way to go.
You could well be right but his high ownership would make that very risky. A Hatrick v hull would be a massive blow. Saying that, I'm all for getting the players in you think will score more regardless of ownership. If anything I think knowing ownership stats these days naturally enforces the template and makes people play on the defensive.
True, but i think theres room to capitalise on that too, by examining the ownership template. Sure theres a risk of Kane returning points, but, he hasn't looked like doing so for some time now and neither have Spurs. I think they're pretty much done for the season. (watch them batter Hull now! :D)
The consensus on here is that their season has finished. I'm not sure that's the case. I prefer to think of it as a dip that could change at any moment. I realise I haven't got a lot to back this up though 🙂
Play solid and safe, alot of people making mistakes taking bad puntd and differentials for the sake of it. I am currently 78 overall and ended 1200 last year, i never take differentials or punts for the sake of it. For instance you dont transfer in Benteke over Giroud or something silly like that.

Risk risk risk... might as well finish 8k and chance a top 1k finish than safely finish 3k
Does it really matter if you end 2.8k or 6.5k? Go for broke if you have your ML wrapped up. You won't have a chance for another 12 months.
This is basically my thinking, makes no real difference to me, whereas a top 1k finish would. 🙂
I talked up Nolan in a GW 38 punt a year or two ago.I chicken out. Acquafresca followed my advice and went Nolan(c).

Depends what you value and see as a rank that needs preserving. I'd just play it safe I think, go with your head and don't take any ridiculous gambles. I'm a bit of a dullard though.
Also, worth pointing out that you can climb the ranks playing sensibly. I've gone from 14.9k to 4.6k in 5 weeks playing sensibly and just doing what I think is right, no massive gambles. Just do whatever you think will maximise points.
This is very true, and its worth noting that I wouldnt be planning crazy transfers - like for example Benteke in instead of Giroud, but I think there are ways of maximising your returns whilst still minimising your exposure to risk.
Just play solid and safe. It seems to work. Take a wild punt in the last week if you feel like it - I usually take a 4 pointer just for the sheer hell of it but it never seems to pay off. One year it will though and I'll get that 17 point defender or hattrick midfielder that only 0.5% own....
........just like Acqua did with Nolan. That's the way to finish the season!

Me and my 2 rivals have Aguero, Vardy, Kane. I am chasing a 27point lead so thinking of breaking the template. I am thinking of doing Kane (MCI, sto, HUL, eve) -> Benteke (EVE,WHU,sou,BUR) for a hit(since i need one Arsenal player to enter each GW) now and maybe even captain Benteke. I may do Vardy -> Benteke for a hit, but NEW are extremely bad. Thoughts?

It is obtainable, but I am thinking that they may do the same move. I am thinking of bringing Bellerin, Ramsey, Ozil/ Cazorla for DGW (they both have Sanchez, and i believe he and Giroud may get rested for a game).
Have there been reports on the severity of the Moreno and Schlupp injuries??
