The transfer of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal this week has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the new Gunners midfielder. Priced at just 8.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Arteta looks, potentially, a real value for money option this season, bringing a much-needed maturity to the Arsenal playmaker role in light of Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Barcelona.

In today’s Members Article, we delve into the statistics from last season, looking at a variety of factors to ascertain whether they offer a hint at just what Arteta could offer Arsenal –and, of course, Fantasy managers- in the campaign ahead:

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    My WC team:

    Given (Vorm)
    R Taylor, Enrique, Bosingwa, De Laet (Ward)
    Nasri, Young, Walcott, (Ferguson, Moses)
    Dzeko, Rooney, Suarez

    Should I swap Walcott for Arteta and upgrade Ferguson to someone who plays?
    Any other comments? Am on a WC so can do unlimited transfers

      Generic, common, boring WC team like everyone else.
      Yes do that swap as Ferguson is just a waste of a squad position.

      Walcott --> Arteta
      Ferguson --> Dyer or Barkley.

      You looking to pre-order and seeing this Ultimate Edition?

      I think a gold pack normally costs about 80p if I remember correctly, I don't really play it much because I think it's a flawed mode, but GAME, the only provider I use are only offering this version.

      If I'm getting that many golds it may entice me to play it more. What I would like to know is if you get the Ultimate Edition, is the box going to be different or will it just be a removable sleeve? Those kind of things annoy me.

      Haven't played UT for a while but i remember that they were 5,000 coins or 79p for the normal gold pack and 7,500 coins or £1.19 for the premium gold pack.

      Very tempted to put him in, could become a bargain at 6.5. He's proven he has quality but whether AVB is going to actually show faith in him with some starts is another question.

          See below. I am going for him and Dzeko, probably something like this.

          Vorm (Krul)

          Baines Bosingwa Ward (Taylor De Laet)

          Adam Walcoot Silva Cabaye (Dyer)

          Dzeko Rooney Sturridge

        I have him in at the moment and assuming AVB makes some positive noises about him over the next week, Sturridge stays. I am not prepared to risk 9.5 on Mata, until he settles in, and I can't really think of anybody else. Attacking Chelsea coverage at 6.5 is not to be sniffed at and combined with Dzeko really gives your budget a huge boost.

                I agree that you will probably get away with no CHE coverage over the next few games. However, Sturridge is intriguing due to his very low price for a top 4 attacking player.

            I think tripling up on City is probably a bit too much, but as a 2 GW punt it could be genius.

            WIth those three up front I would probably go Walcott/Silva or maybe even Adam (if you don't have Suarez).

        I think Young in United is a much better prospect than Nasri in City, but probably it's just because I don't like Nasri. it's clearly been a good day for him last Sunday, but once he settles down he'll calm down. Just 2 goals and 6 bonus points since Christmas last season was a pathetic result for a high priced fantasy player... Why would he suddenly start bringing bigger points in City? I'm very sceptical regarding him.

        What you think of Sess, Daniel? Worth keeping for several more weeks?

          Hardly anyone at Arsenal scored well in the second half of last season apart from VP. Nasri now is happier and arguably playing for a stronger team so if he avoids rotation who is to say he won't deliver the points?

    Hi folks, saved myself a transfer last week so looking to make two changes to get Rooney in for GW4. Would appreciate some input on the options:

    Foster (Given)
    Bosingwa, Baines, Hughes (Brown, Simpson)
    Jarvis, Nani, Hoolahan, Sinclair (Moses)
    Suarez, Aguero, Bent

    A) Aguero + Bent -> Dzeko + Rooney
    B) Baines + Bent -> Jagielka + Rooney
    C) Nani + Bent -> N'Zogbia + Rooney

    I'm a gooner so try to resist playing any Arsenal players to avoid double disappointment - hence lack of Arsenal cover.

      don't go for Kompany, even thou he is a nailed on player - try Richards or Lescott who are far more attack minded. Ateta/Walcott is more difficult as Swansea will definitely pay for Arsenal's pain next fixture. If Walcott can save himself from injury during the internationals then he is the greater threat, but Arteta will be better long term investment.

      Rooney is the Man and Young is his boy at the moment!

      look at the fixture list - Fulham: BLA (H), MANC (H), WBA (A) Liverpool: STOKE (A), TOTT (A), WOLV (H).
      Ruiz is the better bet to score than Suarez and will save you money for elsewhere. Personally, looking at most of the teams posted today, there his too much generic thinking when looking at forwards - take a risk and get an edge.

      M.Petrov is a worry though -Bolton are paying Manu and Arsenal in September

    City have 3 games in a week coming up and I am pretty sure Tevez will start one of these, probably in place of Dzeko. Napoli game the most likely? I am concerned it may be Wigan as Dzeko will have played 2 internationals whilst Tevez stayed home.

      Do you think Aguero might be rested too?

        Doubt it. Balotelli is also with the NT.

            Only played the last 20 yesterday, let's hope he doesn't start against Bangladesh either.

    Hey guys, here is my side, already made my 1 free transfer this week.

    Schwarzer (Vorm)

    Shawcross, Jose Enrique, Smalling, Kompany (Simpson)

    Nani, N’Zogbia, Jarvis (Dyer, Shane Ferguson)

    Rooney, Suarez, Dzeko

    SO - I have 3.3m in the bank – is it worth upgrading N’Zog (Everton away) to Silva (Wigan home) for a 4 point hit?

    (BTW I know I have too much emphasis on defence – looking to downgrade Kompany to Brown soon to free up yet more cash :D)

          Also would you say -

          N'Zogbia -> Silva

          OR

          Jarvis -> Walcott?

          Not really much of a fan of Walcott but he's got great fixtures and I kind of want some 'Arsenal cover'

          Also Jarvis's fixtures aren't great :/

            Jarvix' fixtures are ok. I'd go N'Zog -> Silva personally.

      If you think Silva will get 4 more points than N'Zogbia then its worth it.

      No. He's a liability and Spurs are just beginning to look as if they're in for a long, hard season.

          Yeah really stupid to write them off now, they just signed exactly the two sorts of player they needed, kept one of their best players, and are looking like a good prospect. Calling Adebayor a liability is poor judgement, this is a man deemed good enough to play for Real Madrid last season.
