All this talk of final day goals fests got me thinking about 2008, when Middlesbrough smashed Man City 8-1.

Unbelievable thinking back to it now

That will do nicely, especially after selling Silva.

Plus a penalty save from Myhill (taken by Fabregas)

Pot 1 for next season's Champions League now confirmed; the new system(League winners from the top 8 leagues in Pot 1) should spur up some intriguing groups.

Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Benfica, PSG, Juventus, PSV & Zenit.

3 years in a row top 5k it seems for me. Can't crack the 1k despite being 10 points behind it with a WC in hand. Ivanovic over Terry, dropping Silva, all holes in my dream bucket of the top 1k finish. Bring on next season where I will own Terry and Silva all season!! 🙂

Giroud. Purely due to how WBA defend deeply. More likely to concede a penalty and also easier for Caz to pop off a lovely long shot. WBA defenders would relish an aerial duel with the donkey imo.

I traded hazard to Sanchez for dgw.

Question: How essential is to get hazard back for gw38?

    I'm finding it a challenge. I'd do:

Giroud > 6.0 or less. It irks me that I can't get Diouf, Kane, or Ulloa (3 Leicester already on team), and then Cazorla > Hazard. I can't see selling Alexis or Silva to Hazard.

Alternatively, I could sell cazorla > sub 6.0 mid like Bolasie and then sell Giroud > Costa (if healthy).

I don't think I can improve my starting 11 . All have favourable home fixtures apart from Kane

    Schmeichel

    Kos , Vlaar , Shlupp

    Ozil , Sanchez , Silva , Hazard

    Aguero , Benteke , Kane

    Green , Pva , Gomez , wollcheid

Thinking Gomez to Mahrez probably as cover

    Any better ideas ?

According to Wiki Ronaldo has played 200 league ganes for RM and scored 225 goals.

    Not bad eh?

Messi has slightly worse figures cos obviously it took him a while to hit his peak where as Ronaldo was near enough finished package when he joined.

Greaters players of all time imo. I said the same thing last year and everyone chimed in with Pele, Maradona, Zidane etc. Not a chance imo.

                      Both and plenty more.

one day all will come out.

messi ahead of Maradona and Pele?

people think football was invented 5 yrs ago.

Messi has never won the WC, those two did, until he does, he can't be regarded as the greatest player ever.

they are very irrelevant to this debate, it's a tournament where the BEST players from each country come to play. If you perform amongst the best players in the world then you are rated.

The champions league is no measure of greatness, because it doesn't contain the best players in the world!

The best players don't always play for the best team...

Maradona in fairness won the World Cup pretty much on his own which is why I rated him2nd...

If I am honest with myself it's really close between him and Messi

until Messi delivers BIG in the world cup, he doesn't go into the top 5 great players of all time. That doesn't do justice to the legendary players who did perform in the world cup.

yes, it doesnt matter. Look at Giggs. I think one of the most decorated players in league history in the u.k. Not his fault that his national team arent good enough to qualify for the world cup.

Of course it matters and you are of course entitled to your opinion....

However I disagree that just because someone has or hasn't won the World Cup makes him the best player of all time...

best didn't even play in the WC and is up there, Cruyff never won it and was a genius and up there....

Pele is rated as the best but for me wasn't and he won it three times.

Are you saying that if Messi wins the WC he becomes a better player, he doesn't he just has players around him who helped him win the World Cup....

Ronaldo will never have a sniff at winning the WC, does that mean he isn't a great player, of course not

That's why I stated this is a load of bills and that is my opinion... You can disagree that is your right

sunday league player scores 70 goals in a season, is he world class? No. Why? because Sunday league players are not the best in the world!

premiership player scores 30 goals in a season, is he world class? No. Why? because he's not playing against the best in the world!

Striker scores 7 goals in the world cup? is he world class? 100% he is. Why? because he performed against the best players in the world at the biggest stage in football.

There is no bigger stage in football than the world cup!

if it's that easy why aren't there more players scoring 7 goals in a wc?

why is our Rooney struggling to score more than 2 goals?

why does Christiano struggle to score more than 2 goals?

I didn't say easy. Aguero could score 7 if messi did all the work and laid it to kun to score.by ur standards kun would therefore be a world class player.goals aren't the only things that determine wheather a player is great or not

Its not all about stats though. You only have to watch a player over a period of time. Why all the emphasis on a WC ? Winning WCs is about the team you have around you at the time.

I really dont agree with this. Maradona was an awesome player and won the world cup almost single handelly (haha) but to say you cant judge a players greatness until they win the world cup is rubbish.

That is one stat, goals scored. A biggie, but I'm sure Ronaldo takes many more shots. He is less of a team player based on what I see compared to Messi. Messi also breaks down the opposition and creates more. So many great passes. I think Messi is superior to cr7, but both are all time greats, so the discussion is really kind of moot. If I were building a team, and could draft anyone, I'd take Messi over Ronaldo though!

i rate Brazilian Ronaldo highly because unlike messi who runs across defences with the ball, the Ronaldo ran through defences with the ball beating defenders one after another. It is almost like him arrogantly saying to defenders "let me see you take the ball off me"

Top 3 and Trekkers are at home, so it would include plenty of them and

      Ospina
      Ivanovic, Kosceilny, Kolarov
      Silva, Haz, Sanchez,
      Kun, Trekkers,

For a start, rest would depend on budget

        Looks very strong.

Here's what I'd do if I could go wild with transfers.

        Schmeichel
        Ivanovic, Koscelny, Morgan
        Yaya, Sanchez, Silva, Adam, Albrighton
        Aguero, Costa (if fit)

I was right about Austin pre-season

I was right about Saints defence being done in GW34

I was right about Kane being done in GW34

    I was right about Murray

Yet, no matter what I do or say, I still get treated like the resident FFS joke. Bring on the end of the season

actually I don't. I think if you want Palace cover Puncheon or Bolasie. I credit SW6 with this one, but if you're selling Kane I'd consider Mame Diouf.

I'm leaning toward Gomis myself. The stats are good, and both Swansea and Palace should be attacking given their positions.

Gomis is one I have my eye for next season. Could be a good shout though

Especially since I'd quite like Charlie Adam in midfield and 2 Stoke attackers seems like overkill

Yeah, both Palace and Swansea can't lose league position even if they lose. The only way for them to better their rank would be a win. Goals!

                Swansea can't go anywhere

4 behind Saints, 4 points ahead of Stoke

                They've finished 8th

Palace could make top 10 with a win if both Everton and West Ham lost

That must have been my logic when I looked at it earlier. An attacking Palace team would make an open game.

major credit to both Saints and Swansea. When you think that many people had both down as relegation battlers this season, to have finished essentially best of the rest in 7th and 8th and being near the top for CS. Impressive stuff.

Kevin Wimmer is an Austrian defender with just one (albeit very good) Bundesliga season behind him. He was probably 1.FC Cologne's most consistent player this season, albeit with a tendency to hammer the ball out of play rather than pass it out - which means that he'll fit in just fine in the Premier League.

Wimmer could go to become a good defender, but it's too early to tell yet, and so Cologne are happy to pocket the money and get 2-3 cheaper up and coming talents to replace him.

There has been no confirmation of the sale or transfer fee in Germany yet, although Cologne coach Peter Stöger has admitted that the player will be leaving. I would be surprised if the figure was only £4.25 million - it will be a little higher than this, I assume, but both clubs will spin the figure to their advantage once the deal is done.
