The transfer of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal this week has many a Fantasy manager eyeing up the new Gunners midfielder. Priced at just 8.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Arteta looks, potentially, a real value for money option this season, bringing a much-needed maturity to the Arsenal playmaker role in light of Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Barcelona.

In today’s Members Article, we delve into the statistics from last season, looking at a variety of factors to ascertain whether they offer a hint at just what Arteta could offer Arsenal –and, of course, Fantasy managers- in the campaign ahead:

Leeds Road (old ground) had the Cowshed End, it was built in early 1900s.

Its a cup i never care about until it gets to playing in the semis and suddenly i think, 'aye aye could get a trip to wembley here', at which point, we go out!

Sad about Jacko, thought he might do a job for you.

Interference at the top IMO. One thing i am sure and you may agree on is Jacko is no quitter. Accordingly Alan Lee was supposed to be coming our way as Jacko wanted him on loan but The chairman disagreed alongside the youth team coach and just maybe Jacko's position was underminded.

As for the JPT, I look forward to it in the respect that we have a very young squad and you guys have a very good team which enables us to take stock of our current team.

Hiya lads, just working on my team and its looking rather good, just can't decide for the life of me to pick either nasri OR silva....

If you had to choose for long term who would you pick? Nasri realistically going to be rotated after his impressive city debut?

any thoughts advice would be much appreciated 🙂

Silva... the heart and sole of Citeh. Yes, he will be rested (why did Spain have thar *freindly" with Chile?) but he's their creative force... imho.

Same here, I've got both for now, hoping to bag price rises over international break. Don't think Nasri could do that every week, but Silva has been reasonably involved so far this season. I think his style will ling with Aguero to get some assists. Gonna go Nasri to Mata or Arteta next wk I think...

Re: Smalling as RB longterm, this is what he has to say about it..

“I can do a job at right-back but I see it as a temporary thing. If Sir Alex tells me to play full-back then I’ll try my best to do the job, but I think I am a centre-half. I want to be challenging Rio [Ferdinand] and [Nemanja] Vidic for their place because that’s where I feel I’m at my best."

In the absence of Vidic and Ferdinand, Smalling gave us extra security that Fabio wouldn't have. Smalling won't be there for the season I'm pretty sure.

I think a backline of Smalling Jones Vidic Evra should be our first choice. Even if Smalling doesn't see himself as a RB yet, he is brilliant there.

That Scotland game today was a sickener. A f*cking sickener

In 1998 me and my mates, aged 19, decided to go to Ibiza rather than the France World Cup because we reckoned there would be plenty of other opportunities to be in the Tartan Army and we were keen to "have it large"

Every two years that goes by that decision is looking like more and more of a massive fail

If I get to a major championships before I'm 60 I'll count myself lucky. F*ck knows where FIFA will be hosting it by then. Probably the moon.

Berra's toe did get trod on. Wilson didnt clip their guy at all

Fair enough they maybe should have had one but it still sucks. We got diddled four years ago as well when Italy put the final nail in our Euro qualifying by scoring a late goal from a cross from a free kick that wasnt a foul either

Oh well, we'd no doubt have lost the play off anyway

I have to admit, I don't like the idea of the Euros being increased. You won't get groups like France, Italy, Holland, Romania any more.

I normally enjoy the Euros more than World Cups because you get more groups like that and less like "E-A-S-Y".

Not allowing Croke Park or Landsdowne Road to be used in the Scotland & Ireland Euro 2008 bid was a real downer

That would have been great for both countries, and not having them was the main reason we lost out

I think we should go for a bid again. Scotland and Ireland aint the most glamourous locations but its got to beat Poland and the Ukraine right?

We still wouldn't have won the rights to host it from a security viewpoint. You'd be hosting all matches, and accomodating all travelling fans, in just three cities; Dublin, Edinburgh and Glasgow. A logistical nightmare and security no-no. That's why the bid was always doomed to failure.

    Quick question:

    Vorm, Begovic
Baines, Alex, De Laet, Enrique, S Taylor
    Nzog, Moses, Brunt, Cabaye, Jarvis
    Dzeko, Rooney, Suarez

    Already went Torres-->Dzeko this week.

Worth WCing/getting rid of Alex for someone?

That midfield is pretty weak and Alex is a waste of £5.9m. I'd be inclined to downgrade him right down to a £4m-er and together with the money saved by Torres > Dzeko upgrade two midfilders

Definitely not. Just because he doesn't start one game doesn't mean he isn't still their first choice striker at the moment. If you've got him and his price has risen it may well be worth keeping him as he will be back the next week almost certainly, and if you brought in another City striker they could easily be the one benched next time.

Yes... pls clarify... I always had a perception that Arteta didn't score many from open play, unlike Walcott who does. Arteta scored more from free kicks and penalties for everton, both of which he may miss out on at Arsenal

I like the look of him, has a great goal record but apparently played midfield quite a lot which has boosted it. Arsenal's left back Gibbs got BPs in the opening game of the season and he could offer a lot more...I also expect their defence to sure up now. With that said it's a big gamble at 6.5, but could pay off heavily.

yes.the problem is will arsenal conceed a goal? he is goon an attack but u cant always wait for him to do something.if nothing changes on arsenals defensive side after the trasnfers, it will still be a gamble to pick santos for 6,5 price whilst richards is 6,0 or kolarov at the same price i think

I not mean strength but Mancini not use Richards because he dont intend to attack on the right side in that match (actually they attack on the left with Nasri).

He use Zabaletta for totally defence on the right agains Bale

I have all four lol...I'd say Taylor because his position is more secure and he has a bit more attacking/bonus potential it seems, even though the defence is maybe a bit less secure.
