Laurent Koscielny is rated as doubtful for Arsenal’s home clash with Sunderland due to illness. Liam Bridcutt is ruled out for the Black Cats, though Jack Rodwell returns after a hamstring injury.

In his Tuesday pre-match press conference, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Laurent Koscielny is considered a doubt for tonight’s clash against the Wearsiders due to illness:

“We have an uncertainty about Laurent Koscielny that we will check today.”

The centre-half was then pictured in training later in the day, boosting his chances of making this evening’s match as the Gunners look for the win that would clinch third spot.

Wenger went on to admit that Mathieu Debuchy won’t be back in full training until Friday before conceding that he’s uncertain whether Danny Welbeck or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will prove their fitness in time for the upcoming FA Cup final on May 30:

“They are progressing well but they will not be available for Wednesday. I don’t know yet, let’s see how they all recover next week. Danny Welbeck is not available yet, he is not in full training, so I honestly don’t know. They all have to get fit very quickly now because there is not a long way to go [to the final]”.

Sunderland’s problems in central midfield are building ahead of the Emirates clash. Liam Bridcutt, who stood in for the injured Jordi Gomez at home to Leicester on Saturday, has been ruled out, though Jack Rodwell is back in contention after missing out recently with a hamstring problem.

Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat has hinted he may be ready to hand Adam Johnson his first start since the Dutchman’s arrival:

“He’s in the squad and when you are in the squad, there’s always a chance you will start. This team works so hard and you have to be fair to all of them, but Adam is a player who can do something different for us. His style is different from others – you saw that when he came on against Leicester.”

Advocaat also confirmed that Billy Jones has recovered from the knock that forced him off against the Foxes. With his first-choice right-back available, the Dutchman admitted that, although he won’t be parking the box tonight, his players need to be defensively aware:

“I still think we have to think about goal difference. I think we have to try to get a goal there [at Arsenal]. But we can’t give the game away 2-0, let’s put it like that. And certainly not like we did against Crystal Palace. We have to stay clever to the end. Arsenal have too much individual skill to do that (park the bus). But we have to try and make it as hard as possible for them defensively.”

Obviously wait for team news as either benteke or vardy could get rested. If no news then I'd sell vardy though surely you can better improve your team somewhere else?

i was thinking yaya myself but put off by the analysis of southampton at weekend
they showed how the two central midfielders come in and create a solid block in front of goals along with CH pairing, forcing most teams to go out wide.
I am not sure if this suits yaya as most of his goals come through running straight through middle.

if behind in ML by 12 points going into last games and he has two schmeichel and morgan and will play both
should i buy in a leicester defender to reduce the impact of CS?

the way i see it a leicester CS would put me at least 20 points behind which would be hard to make back from the 6-7 different players i have from his.

and if they don't keep a clean sheet that's points potentially lost for you.

When chasing I'm not sure you want to match their players. All depends which different ones you have. 6-7 sounds like a lot

Am I right in thinking it is best to use your 1FT on an attacking transfer in GW38. For example, I'm not happy with playing Skrtel, but I think my FT will be best used on making an attacking switch as it has more potential for higher returns?

probably right, plus you have 5 defenders to choose 3 from so you already have a bit of flexibility with who you choose in defence.

      in same boat
my defence looks poor, but just cant convince myself to do a defence swap.

A defensive change could still be attacking though. eg Kolarov, Coleman. I was thinking of doing that, bur the way my luck is going at the moment, Skrtel will get a brace.

In a similar boat with Skrtel.

Thinking of keeping and doing Ozil+Kane out for a hit instead.

Otherwise I give Kane one more go and straight swap Skrtel to someone else.

So, Villa get dicked 6-1 and they have one more game before the Cup Final against a team far better than them. So, their only hope in the Cup final seems to be to park the bus. With this in mind, and off of the back of conceding 6, then surely Villa will practice parking the bus in their last game?

0-0 bore inevitable and a reason to avoid Benteke?

I certainly think Sherwood will want to try out a better defensive shape, but I don't think you can read too much into the 6-1 defeat - Villa players have been under a lot of pressure and the last away game of the season is one where they can relax and express themselves a bit.

You could argue they'll do this in their last home game too with one eye on the final, but they'll want a performance in front of their home fans.

Hi Guys. Squeaky bum time. Currently 14 points clear in ML, with this for next week:

      GIVEN (Panti)
      Terry SHLUPP DUFF (Cameron, PVA)
      Hazard SILVA Ramsey SANCHEZ (Albrighton)
      KANE AGUERO GIROUD

Caps are players my rival and I share (although he has Vlaar/Schmiecel to my Villa/Leicester)

There doesnt seem to be a clear transfers?

      A. Giroud to Tekkers seems sideways and risky
      B. Kane to Vardy, likewise sideways

He has Coutinho/Ozil v my Hazard/Ramsey - worth covering him with either?

      Would appreciate any thoughts. Cheers
