Well Lallana was injured a lot and Lambert didn't play much period. The defense was shambolic overall. But I get what you're saying.
Lallana is dross. The defense had the best record in the league when Sakho and Can played.
A healthy 27yo Lallana will give better quality than 35yo Gerrard.
Defense should be the #1 priority with Balo/Sterling cash.Lallana and Gerrard play in 2 different positions. Gerrard, with his limited game time, playing in a defensive role, has provided more quality and goals than 27 year old 25 million Lallana 😆
Gerrard is a DM now that he legs are old. Lallana can play more attacking as SG once did. If you can't tell, SG hasn't shone in years. He gets sympathy time, and has been a liability for at least this past season, half of last.
Take away pens and what is left? A DM who is decent on corners.

The owners will have to consider their options after it, there is an independent review taking place taking into account every aspect of the club, not just the mandatory end of season review the owners put in place. This won't happen all that soon IMO.
