The Premier League fixture list for 2015/16 was published this morning at 9am, allowing Fantasy managers an opportunity to start tentatively planning for the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season.

Champions Chelsea open their campaign with a home encounter against Swansea before heading to the Etihad in Gameweek 2. Jose Mourinho’s men also square up to Arsenal in the opening six rounds of fixtures, and face trips to West Brom and Everton, in addition to a Stamford Bridge showdown with London neighbours Palace.

Man United take on three of last season’s top six in the first six rounds of fixtures. Louis van Gaal’s side welcome Tottenham and Liverpool to Old Trafford over that period and also pay visit to Southampton, with clashes against Villa, Newcastle and Swansea also on their agenda.

Man City hit the road three times in the first five. Manuel Pellegrini’s men roll up to West Brom, Everton and Palace, and welcome Watford, in addition to the above-mentioned home encounter with Chelsea.

Arsenal entertain West Ham, Liverpool and Stoke at the Emirates in the first six Gameweeks. Arsene Wenger’s men have a couple of London away days – at Palace and Chelsea – as well as a trip to Newcastle over that period.

Liverpool are handed four strong home clashes in the opening seven, as Bournemouth, West Ham, Norwich and Villa make their way to Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ men have some testing times on the road, though, with visits to Stoke, Arsenal and United pencilled in over that time frame.

Leicester will be confident of continuing the form that clinched their survival last time out. Nigel Pearson’s troops face Sunderland, West Ham, Bournemouth, Villa and Stoke in the first six, with a Gameweek 3 trip to Tottenham looking the most problematic of their early matches.

West Ham begin life under new manager Slaven Bilic with an opening day trip to the Emirates. The Hammers also pay visit to Liverpool and City in the first six rounds of fixtures, though have four kind home clashes in the first seven (LEI, BOU, NEW, NOR) to bolster their appeal.

Crystal Palace are handed a tough start to the new campaign. Granted, the Eagles have Norwich and Villa in their opening three but aside from that, they go up against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the first six Gameweeks.

Over the next few days, we plan to focus on the new schedule in detail. In addition to a couple of “Frisking the Fixtures” articles, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles looking at the best rotation pairs available at the back over the upcoming campaign.

3' Jan Kliment (Czech Republic) produces a nice strike from about 20 metres. It would have probably ended up in the middle of the goal, but Jakob Busk (Denmark) stopped it with a superb save.

Who's better than them outside the top four? They have finished above Liverpool 6 times in the last 7 seasons I think. Average league position over the last 7 seasons is fifth.

              Southampton and Liverpool, at least.

We're not talking about what you were a few years ago. You finish high right now because you have a GK who can save your shambolic defence line time after time and let you play high defence line despite your defenders really not being capable to that; and you had a spectacular season from a striker to save your otherwise pretty dull attack.

Let me give you one simple table that reflects how much these two players saved you - teams put in order of the shots inside the box ratio (for/against) from best to worst:

              1. ManC
              2. Chelsea
              3. Arsenal
              4. Liverpool
              5. Southampton
              6. ManU
              7. Stoke
              8. West Ham
              9. Palace
              10. Newcastle
              11. Villa
              12. Leicester
              13. Everton
              14. Hull
              15. WBA
              16. Tottenham
              17. Swansea
              18. Burnley
              19. QPR
              20. Sunderland

Fast glance: This reflects the results well in general, top-6 of the list has 6 of the top-7 clubs of the league, and the relegation fodder finds itself in the bottom-6, except for Newcastle who went there pretty late to the season, and Leicester who played all season better than what is reflected in their results.

Second glance: spot the anomaly? One team from the real top-6 is placed quite far from all the others...

              1. Tomeister
                • 11 Years
                10 years, 7 months ago

That table is pretty useless. What do shots in the box actually tell us? Shots on target is a better indicator. But even then, teams have players like carzorla and coutinho who hit tame shots right the keeper.

Yes Spurs defense is poor at the moment, but it didn't affect them that much because their attack made up for it. They are the only clubs to have three players in double figures....dull attack indeed.
Their defense certainly improved when chiriches wasn't in the side.

If Liverpool and Southampton were better than Spurs, they would consistently finish above them. They dont. There's no way to argue that. Higher average table position, while in constant transition, is impressive for Spurs, and it's unfair to call them sh*t when they don't finish top four, when they shouldn't really be expected to.
                Just like Liverpool.

                I bet you're a Liverpool fan.

But that was on the pitch to a live broadcast, this was on a trophy parade. Unless the FA are going to start fining anyone who swears at any point off the pitch... put microphones in their cars and if they get a bit of road rage, fine. Microphone in their kitchen and if they accidentally touch the kettle and swear, fine.
