Having narrowly finished second to champions Manchester City in 2013/14, Liverpool’s prospects were dealt a bitter blow last summer after 31-goal Luis Suarez was snapped up by Barcelona. With the Uruguayan gone, and Daniel Sturridge restricted to seven starts due to injuries, it was a season to forget for Brendan Rodgers’ outfit.

    Firminho is a great signing for Pool and would have been a great signing for United but I'm not overly fussed

    LvG prefers 4-3-3 as a rule and if we did play with a number 10 we have Mata, Januzaj to play there, Perreira coming through and even Rooney if we need.

    Great player but not one that we really need.Definitely raises Pool to another level

    Fairly smart transfer business so far from Liverpool, two freebies and an investment in a player with the skillset to develop into whatever Rodgers intends.

                        That's a bit of same problem, mate. Try to install a defender in a new team, in a new league: it's very difficult. Back in Liverpool, he's at least trained long time with these players and tactics and knows the style and the league. May be easier for him there.

      Their best player was injured most of the season and arguably Henderson's had a better season than Sterling. Would have been best player had Rodgers played him on the wing all season and not tried hi at wing baxk or striker.

      Agreed, Firmino has very good rating on Whoscored for that position (7.8), lots of assists - has to play there, not brill as striker or on the flanks. I'll be very interested in him if 7 5 n or less.

    firmino alongside coutihno just behind sturridge does sound tasty. thing is Liverpool need or should I say rogers needs to start off well this season or he could be out of a job. plus they got a tough start. so they need another top striker until sturridge is fit. maybe ings will get his chance early
