Our members articles analysing last season are completed today with a review of West Ham’s performances. The Hammers entered 2014/15 in reasonable health, having finished 13th in the Premier League in the previous campaign, although they only gained 40 points and did flirt with the relegation zone before finally confirming their top-flight status.

Plenty of changes were made in both playing and coaching personnel at Upton Park last summer, with forwards Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho brought in, while Teddy Sheringham joined up as an attacking coach. Cheikhou Kouyate and Aaron Cresswell were also signed, while Carl Jenkinson and Alex Song moved to the Hammers on season-long loans.

In this members article, we asses the main goal threats and creators in Sam Allardyce’s final year at the helm and also compare the team’s attacking numbers to the previous year.

RMT pls. Constructive criticism would be nice.

    Ruddy (Henne)
Azpil | Huth | Francis (Coates, S. Taylor)
Ozil | Milner | Haz | Mahrez (Fletch)
    Rooney | Pelle | Sakho

A BIG £6.0m ITB, there's a few I'm yet to be dead set on - Ozil, Pelle & Sakho but I dunno really. (I'd obviously want £3m ITB to upgrade Rooney > Aguero, heck even £1m then I could Pelle > Aguero around GW3)

I'm finding it difficult this year haha...

Having a browse of the boards, it seems Sterling isn't in favour in most of the teams here. I'm considering him - he's surely nailed to start, a decent goal threat, and has had a decent pre-season.

What is everyone's reasoning for leaving him out, is it just that there are better options available (mostly Arsenal mids!)? Or just too expensive?

(Posting this is probably a bad idea, probably going to start making me doubt his place in my team haha)

I'm probably starting with Sterling only if Kun is 100% ruled out of the first game.

      • 14 Years

Naw, hasn't really worked in the past so won't work now. Out of the 5 mids you'll do well to have 3 of them return points week in week out especially when two of the players face each other in a "big game". A cheap 3rd striker on pens for an attacking team can get one anytime.

      Just my thought on it

      1. Somalion
        • 15 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

The season of the do called power 5 in the middle was a good one for it. I tend to prefer strikers as well, but a player like Mané really is playing close to a second striker

United and Barca are very close to reach an agreement over Pedro.

Next week West Ham could strike a deal with Barca for Halilovic(on loan i assume).

And Inler said no to Leicester.
