With the season now in full swing, we begin to adjust our sights when it comes to the statistical analysis available to our Members. We’re set to focus on specific players and teams a good deal more from now on.

Today’s article is a case in point – all eyes were on Mikel Arteta at the Emirates this weekend and Fantasy managers will have been keen to assess how he settled amongst his new team-mates and, indeed, how he fared when it comes to the key performance statistics.

We delve into his ICT Index figures then, drilling down into the Opta data to investigate how Arteta at Arsenal compared to his typical Everton displays of last season, and assess his potential from this point.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Did you see she got fined $2000 for her outburst at the ref in her final - time taken to earn that money in this years US Open for her - forty five seconds

What a f*cking joke. She should be banned. But the womens game is so shit that the top brass daren't do it because there's no one else worth watching

Also - McIlroy and Wozniacki - how the f*ck did that happen?

Banned seems a bit ... much.

She was a bit impertinent. Minor sanction the right fit, imo.

And I was being a bit sarcy, ignoring the marquee match, just forgot the 😉

That third set is the best set of tennis that has ever been played, and, indeed, may ever be played.

I struggle to think of a time when two opponents (individual or team) have battered each other at the absolute top of their game for such a long time

The amazing thing was, even after 4+ hours of the most intense effort, five minutes after the game Novak was talking away fine and he wasnt even sweating or out of breath at all. Unbelievable

Looking back, even as a Scot, Nadal did Murray a massive favour putting him out in the semis because the way he was playing Djoko would have pulled his pants down and annihilated him. Maybe even a couple of bagels.

Great atmosphere in Dortmund for the Arsenal match. Coach Jürgen Klopp had two decisions to make when selecting tonight's starting eleven, and he arguably got both of them wrong. In an attempt to shore up the defence, he went with the out-of-form Großkreutz over the more attacking Ivan Perišić. Klopp also reinstated Sebastian Kehl for Gündogan, the only BVB player with Champions League experience in defensive midfield - Kehl's lack of match practice was evident in his role in Van Persie's goal.

But the biggest mistake was not buying a third striker in the transfer window. With Barrios injured, Dortmund just don't look threatening enough in front of goal.

Is the scoring in the CL fantasy right? There are defenders getting CS points but their team has conceded. And also the golaie for the team has not scored the CS points. Strange...must be the same guys running the EPL comp.

Also, is anyone on the S Ward and Agbon bandwagon. Ward playing striker this GW and Agbon in good for, picking up consistant BPs and relateively good fixtures?

Going by transfers I wouldnt say Agbon was a bandwagon yet. However, even although most folk on here seem to berate him, I guess if you need a striker at about that price the options are limited

The only real alternatives I see are Long and Sturridge and the latter is as yet an unproven regular starter. And Villa do have some not bad games coming up. He could be a decent purchase. Excluding last season, his historic stats are pretty good and if McLeish has got him motivated and playing in a suitable formation then £6.5 seems value to me

      I like it,

I would prefer to have a player like Dyer instead of Arteta and Adebayor instead of Graham with Moses/Dyer rotating in a 3-4-3 formation but only because I feel Arsenal aren't gonna be doing much for a while and I rate Adebayor highly

but Arteta still has potential, also Nani is better then Young 🙂

Hmm. Never been Adebayor's biggest fan. You think he'll come good?

Part of the problem is I'm an Everton fan, and an Arteta fan, so would like to see him come good. Little worried about lack of Chelsea coverage and am considered swapping him out for Meireles.

One of the things I strived for is for players that will generally NOT rotate.
While I realize that Man City is primed for rotation, I think they're attacking play is too good not to have 2 attackers from them. They each come on for 20 min and still get assist/goal.

Nani = Young to me, and I think Nani is more a rotation risk with Valencia than Young is.

Do you have any money in the bank at all? Even £0.2m?

If so I'd be inclined to try and do Moses > Dyer and then Graham > Long

Moses and Dyer to me seem much the same over a season but Graham, even a a nailed on striker, looks likely to do almost nothing this season whereas Long could be decent. I mean, Swansea havent even scored a goal yet....

But if you have no money then your team looks good to me

        Yeah, no money.

But that move would take 0.8 extra.

        Moses 5 + Graham 4.9 (9.9) > Dyer 4.6 and Long 6.1 (10.7)

The main reason for the graham pick is because of how cheap he is. That the FFS article about upcoming games and the note about him missing "a hatful of chances"

Caulker and Brown definately. The things get a bit difficult, Bosingwa has attacking threat but will more than likely concede, same with Enrique. Simpson may be worth a shout at Newcastle have managed a few clean sheets this year and are playing a Villa team set up to defend 1st.

Am i the only one who likes the new bonus point system?

    1) it at least not based on subjective interpretation
    2) The quiet achievers are rewarded instead of the show ponies
    3) There is consistancy in the decisions , making it easier
to pick players likely to get benefit

Only downside is the length of time it takes to hand them out

        2) The quiet achievers are rewarded instead of the show ponies

Couldn't disagree with this more. The goalscorers are rewarded with BPs even though they've already pocketed a nice point reward for scoring, to give them even more points (unless they do something really special like single handedly win a match) is just increasing the gulf between those who score and those who were involved in build ups but failed to get points. Its happened numerous times with guys like Holt, Arshavin, Di Santo etc. Even Ben Watson was awarded 3bps against Norwich for just scoring a penalty - ridiculous.
The index it's based on puts far too much emphasis on goals without weighting other important factors and as such it just doesn't work well. The only time they seem to be spot on is when games are goaless and the defenders, GKS and defensive mids get them.

Yes, it's nice to have consistency in awarding, but not when the rating system is disproportionately flawed, which just makes it more consistently wrong. At least the BPs last season & before got it right sometimes.

But that's the point i'm making, Kompany played well and got 2 because there was only one goalscorer in that match. Had Tevez converted the penalty no doubt he would've been given the 2bps.

Besides , the old system also favoured goalscorers. Even worse it favoured the "well known" players
Under the old system , some players just needed to turn up to get bonus points , regardless of how they actually played.

I'm not saying the old system wasn't a joke in it's own ways, but it was still right more often than this system.

We clearly are not going to agree on this , reality is that any system is likely o favour goalscorers to some extent.
After all scoring is the single most important factor influencing the result.

There are plenty of defenders being given bonus points which is good. When did you ever see the likes of Simpson getting bonus points under the old system ? Very rarely , now a good defensive display is being awarded wirh bonus points.

In the same game , under the old system wright philips would of picked up the three , because he was the big show pony , who looked good on television as he was always doing something. Easy to forget that he wasted much of it .
The bonus system saw through it , and deducted points for all his wasted play and rewarded the less flashy Taabat
for his accuracy of pass and shot. In short he wasnt a wasteful sefish waste of space

You're right clearly we won't agree.

The Newcastle/QPR BPs worked this week because it was 0-0. I already said in my first reply that this is the only type scenario that they're spot on. And you're probably right that the BPs wouldve gone to the wrong players under last years system.

But the point I keep making is that GOALS present far too much weight in this points index they now use.
Hilario presenting Holt with an open goal = bp
Ben Watson socring a penalty = bp
Di Santo scoring 2 flukey deflections (1 of which probably wasn't even on target) = bp
Walters scoring a pen (when the Stoke defense was unreal) = bp
Arshavin scoring after Vorm presents him with an open goal = bp
RVP scoring a point blank sitter (after he'd missed a pen and good chances while the game was still competitive v United) = bp

      ETC ETC

      The new system is ludicrous.

I have such a boring transfer planned this week of Hilario -> Given. I have 1 freebie and a wildcard in tact. Are there any better moves?

    Hilario, Ruddy
    Bosingwa, Dunne, Senderos, Simpson, Brown
    Silva, Nani, Sessegnon, Sinclair, Moses
    RVP, Suarez, Dzeko

Id get rid of Hilario, but to a $4.5 keeper, so that you have some $ left in the bank to upgrade RVP to Shrek if he continues to fire

see what happened was Newcastle kept a clean sheet you see, and then what happened was that Everton didn't and like ya know ya can't get points as a defender if your team concedes, strange rule that but there ya are, and Simpsons had good PPI so he got a reward and Baines didn't so he didn't. And that was what happened there.

No not yet MoK, I'm waiting to see what happens with all the European games this week.Nothing more annoying than transfering someone in only to see them get crocked the following day before they've even played for you. I have one team in the top 10,000 and the rest between 16K and 35K. Not great, my Mail teams are doing slightly better and I still have most of my transfers and captaincy changes left.

    Time for a rant.

Apart from touch judges, there are three things bugging me right now:

    1. People moaning about the bonus points. Learn how they are awarded and get those players in that profit from them.

    2. Playing moaning about their overall position. Last year, most on here were complaining how unpredictable the game had become. But by the end of the year, most had ended up in the top 10K. Learn some patience, stick at it and trust your instinct.

    3. FPL still hasn't fixed the ppg statistic.

    😡
