Limping out of the blocks like three flabby Dads at their kids’ Sports Day, Granville, Jonty and myself are in a sheepish mood for the first ScoutCast of the season.

We do our upmost to rouse some enthusiasm for the events of Gameweek 1, buoyed by tales from you, the community and your latest round of finely honed questions, drilling down into the current big dilemmas.

Chelsea and Arsenal’s stuttering start, the strategy surrounding Aguero and Sanchez, plus the top targets ahead of Friday’s 6.45 deadline provide plenty to distract me from the fact that I’d been robbed of a David Silva goal just minutes before coming on air.

    The only difference is got rid of Richards, Butland and Henderon -> Oxford, McCarthy and upgraded Henderson to Mane

      Darmian is really the only sure bet atm.

      If you up for a punt, Gomez + oxford

      Targett should be nailed for 2-3 weeks at least if you are looking for a way into soton defence.

      Apart from that, Francis, huthcoates are secure 4.5 options.

      Kompany looks like a good pick from GW3 onwards

    Looks a great week to try a differential captain, both the two leaders in the poll have negatives surrounding them and some good alternatives about.

        He could be a great pick, but with Sanchez back I think there is a good chance he starts on the bench again. Hopefully he gets the nod up front though!

          Yeah it wouldn't have worked out well last week but Wenger is probably thinking the same thing. Imperious performances at the end of last season + charity shield with Walcott. Then he brings giroud in and the game dies.

        It is a WC due to an abysmal GW1 score (28).

        Mcarthy Henn is cheap as chips, and for some reason it seems to be the semi-heavyconceding keepers that are getting the most points over the coarse of the season. I have chosen that combo because of the price

        Captain pick wise. Is a tough call. Currently on Sanchez but im tearing my hair out. As i have sakho, Kane and Mane. Its really a lottery this week for captaincy.

    It looks like Walcott is going to be a good test subject for the fall accuracy of the price comparison sites.

    FPL Statistics currently has him at -98.2%, 456 transfers short of a fall.
    FantasyFootballFix has him at -97.3%, dropping at 0.89% per hour.

        Guess most the FPL playing world is sleep now. Seems silly that people are making their transfers so soon. There are still press conferences to come before the first match. Its not like a saturday where there is no news.

          I know. I'm just amused. Although in the first weeks, that 0.1 is effectively the same as a 0.5 drop or rise, in terms of being a barrier to your moves. You have to sacrifice somebody at a price point higher in order to purchase, and if you were going to sell anyway, now you have to purchase at a price point below.

    The only difference is got rid of Richards, Butland and Henderon -> Oxford, McCarthy and upgraded Henderson to Mane
