With mid-price assets continuing to deliver, Sunday’s fare finds three of the genuine title contenders in action, allowing us to assess the form of a series of heavy-hitters.

Arsenal get things underway with their visit to Palace and that’s followed by the titanic clash as Man City host Chelsea at the Etihad.

The Gunners arrive in South London off the back of a shock 2-0 reverse to West Ham. They can, however, take comfort from the fact that they are unbeaten in twelve matches at Selhurst Park but will be wary of a Palace side that boasts an array of weapons at their disposal. Alan Pardew’s Eagles enjoyed an impressive away win at the Norwich on the opening day and will be looking to build on that by improving home performances – they have lost half of their 10 home games under Pardew’s reign. The Gunners, meanwhile, turn up having won five of their last six away trips.

The tea-time encounter is, on paper, a classic. Chelsea go into the match still licking wounds from an opening day roughing-up by an impressive Swansea and will be without Thibaut Courtois as a result of his second-half red card in that 2-2 draw. City’s preparations could not have been better – they strolled to a 3-0 win at West Brom on Monday night and, arguably, were the most impressive side on show in Gameweek 1 with David Silva, in particular, dazzling in midfield.

Mourinho will be wary of City’s confidence and is expected to settle on the back foot in a bid to catch City on the break with pace – he can take confidence from the fact that his side are unbeaten in their last four against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. On the flipside, the Chilean will point to a recent home record which states seven straight wins, delivering six clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So if you were going to take a -8 or even -12 is it worth WC instead? Where do people think the line is?

If you wildcard think bandwagon + long term picks. You'll be okay

Asked the other day and people averaged at around a 5 transfer minimum for a wildcard.

-12 is wildcard time, although this early with -8 it may even be worth it

i sure as hell wudn't take a minus 12 with a wildcard in my pocket, unless there were double gameweek madness looming. i probably wudn't take the eight either but it totally depends on how many positive changes u feel u need to make

Cheers guys. Yep I'm bit contemplating a -12 but I feel I need Aguero like everyone else as he looked pretty sharp but I don't want to lose balance.

I think I'll buy Hazard now...

Hazard or Silva. Will surely have Aguero but if not Hazard no Chelsea cover.

So for people who are not WildCarding!
Are you making Silva/Yaya or Sanchez a priority transfer IN? and ayew sacrificing Hazard or planning on keeping?

    1. The Sarjeant
      • 12 Years

Think I'm ditching Hazard. Have two transfers. Going Hazard + Rooney > Payet + Agüero. Think I may make another 1 or two changes too.

Already have Silva. Think I may bring in Sanchez if I take a -4/-8.

hmmm.. i'm gonna swap Hazard for Sanchez i think.. Silva + Aguero seems a waste considering you can only captain one. Yaya could prove better value in that regard

    Stekelenburg - Darlow
    Azpilicueta - Mertesacker - Coates - Huth - Targett
    Hazard - Sanchez - Chadli - Mahrez - Sinclair
    Aguero - Pelle - Wilson

Should I use my wildcard? Not sure as I have Sanchez and Aguero, and can do Hazard>Silva with my FT. I do think it's a problem that I have to use one of Sinclair and Wilson every week and my GK/def doesn't look good. Also a chance to gain some TV.

How's this for a WC team?

    Fabianski Butland
    Kolarov Darmian Cedric Morgan Targett
    Haz Sanchez Payet Mahrez Anya
    Aguero Gomis Wilson

Could also hold my horses and settle for bringing in Aguero and Mahrez. Looks like this:

    Pants 4.0
    Koscielny Cedric Jenkinson Francis Targett
    Haz Sterling Mane Mahrez Anya
    Aguero Benteke Wilson

    Comments? Thanks in advance!

      10 years, 6 months ago

i think -8 is the biggest anyone should be willing to take at any point in the season unless you really have some sort of crazy plan lined up. I'd only consider doing it if the team I wanted could only be afforded that way due to price rises, etc. that said, it always all depends on what transfer you are thinking, specifics are key

Ivanovic really isn't the best RB in the PL.

He can get forward to attack, yes, he can get back from attacking quickly, yes.

But when it comes to defensive duties, he really isn't the best.

    Just my opinion at least

In FPL maybe, watch his tackling, marking and closing down though

Nothing there to warrant him being the best RB imo, but he is incredible at attacking for a defender, I'll give him that not many can do it well

          • 12 Years

I dunno like I agree he's not the worlds best but we haven't had a really quality RB in the premier league for a while that's why I'd still say he's the best. Clyne could overtake him this year though.
