The EA SPORTS PPI scores for Gameweek five are now available and the Fantasy Premier League bonus points have been awarded. Here’s a full breakdown of how they map out match by match. Look out for our round-up of the key factors that contributed to the awards over at the Scout column on the FPL site later today.

Aston Villa 1 Newcastle 1
Best 3, Agbonlahor 2, Tiote 2

Leon Best’s strike for the visitors was enough to see him fetch the 3 bonus points, with team-mate Cheik Tiote and Villa’s Agbonlahor returning identical PPI scores, the honours for the 2 bonus were shared. That denied Danny Simpson – he came in next in the PPI rankings.

Bolton 1 Norwich 2
Pilkington 3, Barnett 2, Morison 1

Anthony Pilkington and Leon Barnett grabbed the plaudits for Norwich at the Reebok and duly claimed the bonus points here – Pilkington’s goal and Barnett’s resolute defensive display earning them recognition. Steve Morison’s performance helped him earn a single bonus, with Martin Petrov Bolton’s leading performer trailing David Fox, Bradley Johnson and Russell Martin in the PPI stakes.

Blackburn 4 Arsenal 3
Yakubu 3, N’Zonzi 2, Arteta 1

Yakubu’s brace earns him the top overall EA Sports PPI score of the Gameweek with 47 – making him a clear front-runner for the maximum FPL bonus in this match. Steve N’Zonzi grabs the 2, with Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta earning a single bonus point for his goal and overall performance. The Spaniard edged out Junior Hoilett, Scott Dann and Gervinho who all notched up strong PPI scores.

Everton 3 Wigan 1
Jagielka 3, Hibbert 2, Vellios 2

As expected, Phil Jagielka earns the maximum here courtesy of his equalising goal and all-round defensive display. Tony Hibbert’s fine cross for the Vellios header has him collect the 2 and, with an identical PPI to the Greek, he shares the award. That meant that Royston Drenthe missed out on earning a single bonus point – he ranked next in the PPI scores for David Moyes’ men.

Fulham 2 Man City 2
Aguero 3, Murphy 2, Zamora 1

Sergio Aguero gathers another batch of bonus with his brace of goals for visiting City. Fulham’s fightback sees both goalscorers – Danny Murphy and Bobby Zamora earn recognition, with Clint Dempsey just outside the reckoning.

Man United 3 Chelsea 1
Nani 3, Young 2, Smalling 1

Few surprises here – Nani’s goal and assist were enough to see him as a clear PPI leader, leaving team-mates Ashley Young and Chris Smalling in his wake. Jonnny Evans and Wayne Rooney ranked next for the home side, with Jose Boswinga Chelsea’s top PPI performer on the day.

Sunderland 4 Stoke City 0
Gardner 3, Bramble 2, Larsson 1

As expected, three of Sunderland’s scorers dominate the PPI and FPL bonus. Craig Gardner narrowly edged out team-mates Titus Bramble and Seb Larsson, with Wes Brown ranking next for the victorious home side. Peter Crouch was beaten Stoke’s top PPI performer.

Swansea 3 West Brom 0
Lita 3, Dyer 2, Sinclair 1

A goal and an assist were enough to see Leroy Lita earn the maximum from this match – Scott Sinclair, whilst matching Lita’s output, presumably suffering a PPI penalty for several efforts off target. Nathan Dyer sandwiched these two for bonus points, as Swansea ran riot at the Liberty. Joe Allen and Ashley Williams were just outside the top three PPI rankings with Nicky Shorey the highest rated performer for the Baggies.

Tottenham 4 Liverpool 0
Adebayor 3, Modric 2, Defoe 1

A superb display, capped by two well-taken goals, saw Adeabyor amass an impressive PPI score in the win over Liverpool. No surprises to see him claim the maximum here then, with fellow goalscorers – Luka Modric and Jermain Defoe – picking up the remainder. Benoit Assou-Ekotto can count himself unlucky to miss out on bonus having put in a strong shift, while Jamie Carragher was the top PPI scorer for the forlorn visitors.

Wolves 0 QPR 3
Faurlin 3, Barton 2, Wright-Phillips 1

Faurlin’s fine strike for QPR’s second goal has him collect the three bonus, although, with Barton earning 2 – we might even see a change here. Barton appeared to assist Faurlin’s goal with both Wolves clearances occurring inside the penalty area before the Argentine converted his shot. Wright-Phillips picked up a single bonus as reward for another encouraging display in the free-role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My first couple of season in FPL I finished top 2k with a cheap defence strategy. Then I found FFS where the consensus was "3 top-4 defenders" (anyone remember that?), and finished about 40k a couple of seasons in a row. This year, I'm using FFS for injury news etc. and not tactics, have gone with a cheap defence all season (no one above 4.5), and doing very well right now.

I think this season you can survive with cheap, at the moment at least. Swansea, Newcastle & QPR all have 4m regular defenders and they all seem capable of clean sheets, i think if you get the right combo, you dont need to spend more than 5 / 5.5m on a defender IMO.

I think that's a logical way of using FFS. You can come for info and give/take opinions, but it's your own responsibility to choose tactics and players.

More and more.. I think cheap DFs is probably a good way to go.

Statistically, time and again, at the end of the season, the best 'expensive' defenders don't finish too far off the 3rd to 7th best midfielders and strikers though, and for slightly less cash.

Last season, A Cole scored 150, (7.5M) and Silva scored 144, (8.5M) for instance.

The other advantage is that you can still bench expensive defenders in tough away games where you expect them to concede, (and they usually do), and so really you take more than your fair share of those 150 points too, since you bench them for maybe 6 to 8 games, and you miss out on two cleansheets and six 2 or 1 pointers.

I’m quite happy with my team but I don’t seem to be catching people up in my league. I have 2 free transfers for this week but considering using my wildcard, what do people think? My team for this week is as follows : -

    Given
    Enrique Bosingwa Kompany Simpson
    Osman Young Silva
    Dzeko Rooney Suarez (c)

    Hilario, De Laet, Moses, Dyer

I want to take out Osman but don’t know who to replace him with, maybe SWP? I don’t have any money in the bank.

Finally I can use my transfer to get rid of Nzogbia this week, and on my shortlist for replacements i find

Ramires - starter for chelsea, growing confidence, getting forward well

Cabaye - looks like the main man for newcastle, nice fix

SWP - free role, enjoying his game, picking up bps

They are all due a heavy scoreline anytime soon i feel and will pick up points regularly, but my gut-feeling says Cabaye, who do you guys think is best value for money of those?

Yeah, you can't really downgrade any of those. In fairness, I think your idea is the best option. Losing 4 points isn't a massive deal, especially this early in the season. I'm just not 100% sure of Bosingwa starting the next game, but I hope he does because he's my only Chelsea cover. Mata should have a decent week and N'Zogbia is well worth getting rid of.

Nani really was good yesterday, lovely, lovely goal yesterday. Really is hard to pick between him and Ashley Young, I have neither ðŸ™

It's hard, but I almost feel sorry for Torres, though not really as he's ex-Liverpool and current Chelsea 🙂 Yesterdays game will be remembered for that miss, but it was a bit harsh on him. Lovely drop of the shoulder to go round De Gea, just a bad miss. He looked good again, really put a shift in, and loved the finish for his goal. I don't think I'd consider him just yet, needs a few goals before that, and I have Mata, Aguero and Rooney anyway.

The Cole challenge. It shouldn't have been a penalty because the ball was already out of play when he came in. I also don't think there was any intent from Cashley and that he was genuinely trying to block the ball. When you see the challenge again he's looking away towards the ball when he goes in on him. That being said, intent or not, it could have been a red card!

I, personally, can't see how it's not a penalty. It was a late challenge, and a reckless one at that. Simple as that in my eyes.

If a player was near the touchline, went to kick it down the line but actually mis-hit it and kicked the ball out and an opponent came sliding in late and fouled him it would be a free-kick regardless if the ball has gone out of play before contact was made. That's how I see it anyway.

        Yeah I see your point.

But on the flip side, if the ball is being played in lets say Chelsea's penalty box and in the centre circle Vidic decides to slide in on Torres for no reason then it wouldn't be a free kick to Chelsea in the centre circle, play would carry on from whatever happened in the box.

It'll be interesting to see who sticks with Baines during his run of tough fixtures.

Keep him and you could well be rewarded. Sell him to free up the cash and I can Aguero in for Dzeko and someone around £5m for Baines.

But Baines is still the best attacking defender around. Decisions, decisions.

It's not so much the value, it's what he brings that no other defender does. No other defender is on PKs from what I can tell, plus he's on dead balls.

Its pointless me getting Aguero now, as I have Dzeko already, and the guy on top of my league has Aguero. So I'll never catch him if I end up with same strikers.

Given to Krul gives me enough cash to do Walcott to Mata without a hit.

Good move or is there better?

Boswinga Kompany Simpson (De Laet, Ward)
    Young Silva Brunt Dyer (Barkley)
    Dzeko RVP(C) Rooney

Still 90 points behind the leader. But thank god i cut it down 10 points this gw

Yeah mate, I just ditched Baines. I think he'll do well this season but so far 8.0 isn't justified for mine.

He'll score 2 dotties next weekend now, you watch!

    Baines
    O'Hara
    Bent
    Holt

    In-
    R Taylor
    Mata
    Adebayor
    Agbonlahor

Just seen a couple of posts about people wanting to go for cheap defenders and upgrading elsewhere. I think that worked in the times of Lampard, Gerrard and Ronaldo who were all guaranteed 90mins a week and huge scores. This season though, midfielders especially are a rotation nightmare, and there's nobody consistently scoring well (except maybe Silva). I think that's why people (myself included) are inclined to spend more on attacking defenders (Bos, Enrique, Baines) who can still score you attacking points as well as CS's.

Forwards as well are a headache, except for Rooney and maybe Aguero. RVP and Torres have done zilch, Bent's scored 1, and Dzeko scored 4 then is benched then scores none! Just my thoughts as to why people are maybe opting for pricier defenders.

Baines is too expensive whatever he does, he will score less points per million than the simpsons, Gabbidons and other cheap options, owning him . I think the way to go is 2 top defenders and then 3 cheaper defenders to rotate.

on the other hand, the likes of young, nani, silva, nasri, eventually mata/vdv will all consistently be involved in attacking moves for there clubs.

regular assists and bonus points come to players in teams that score frequently.thats why i've not gone for suarez...no doubt hes quality its just liverpool don't have the attacking quality for him to produce regular fpl points.just my view

Heard he could be out for around 2 weeks. Could be a good time to bring Welbeck in, cheaper than either Nani or Chico.

I surely don't need a Kiwi to pick my side for me.

                "being using"...?

You know your talking kak Aussie.

You and Jafakiwi ended much higher than me last year soooo I guess our teams were not similar then after all(and still is not)

I get the feeling your not using the site as much since you are doing so badly. Or you still using the excuse "there are to many posts lately on FFS to have a decent conversation?"
