We delve into the members data this evening after the Gameweek came to its conclusion last night. Stoke, Southampton and Watford’s forwards all come under analysis, whilst Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez make a strong claim for immediate investment on the back of their weekend showings.
@Nabil
Out of curiosity, what is so special about MNF?sorry for late reply.
MNF is a golden chance to move up your rank, especially if you have a sh!tty weekend. I don;t have stats to back this up, but some proven players just like to score big on MNF - Bale's hat-trick sprang to mind. And Benteke captains recently, all benefited from the final game of the GW.
in short, it's a fun way to play the game.
Hazard seems to be a differential now.......
48.6% chance you are wrong
I meant among FFS
still think there are quite a number who are retaining him, especially those who are not using the WC
Most owned player in the game still.
I know what you're saying tho. Amongst those players who consider themselves 'serious', he is an acquired taste at the moment
everyone else going to bring in depay now?!!!!!
Yes.....you
Nah took him out this week. Feel ok about it tbh. Bruges at home...I dunno...it's not irrelevant but it doesn't persuade me he's going to consistently deliver in the Prem. It would help if Rooney was playing well, but I don't see a lot of goals in United at the moment
An overlooked topic is often bench cover.
My current thinking is to have one very good player on the bench alongside two base price players, as opposed to spreading my bets (if that make's sense).
Also gives greater flexibility.
What do people currently think? That good player has to be a defender if u are playing 3-4-3
Nothing wrong with having a decent bench. Gets a lot of bad press on here but some people like to think their 1st XI will always play, be fit and will always be fantastic regardless of opponent.
Yes, this.
This.
I never go with a really weak mid. When I see players like Fletcher bandied around it baffles me.
If you want to play 4 every week it's likely that it won't be long before you get a terrible fixture, a bit of rotation at certain times of the year, an injury that will pass after a single game, or even have one pull up just before a game.
When it comes to defenders I think it's reasonable to have one piece of fodder if you only want to at three per week
I agree with having one good bench player, even if its just a 5.5 mid.
One thing for me, this is for later when you team value is higher. I always try to maximise that intial 100m on the pitch.
Westwood at 4.5 looks a fair enough enabler for now.I think that such strategy is rooted in the dogma that price = value.
2 base price players + 1m = 2 upgraded, start-worthy challengers to your starting XI
Downgrade 1 mid by 1m, add .5m to two defenders (or 1m to just 1 defender)... it's a recipe for a better, more flexible team without losing much/anything in midfield.
IMOThere are many who, when asked a "who do I bench this week" question, answer something along the lines of "You should not have benching dilemmas... downgrade XYZ and upgrade your starters"
Sometimes that's a fair assessment. Is it a recipe for a better team? I think it's the opposite.
most people go strong front 7 with a filler who they'll rarely, if ever, play.
i don't, because owning wanyama or suchlike is a proposition that fills me with revulsion. so i now have a chadli bench/AOA dilemna a week after losing mahrez bench points. there are many lost bench points, a sacrifice one must be prepared to make. it's probably not the best strategy but it sure as hell ain't boringA lot of people are terrified of this and therefore won't even put the possibility in front of them. I love a good dilemma! It's where you earn your corn
Get the dilemma correct over 50% of the weeks and you have gained from the dilemma.
I get a lot of satisfaction from getting it right tbh as well. Part of the fun for me. I'm not afraid to put a big player on the bench either
😀 dang straight. but for people who tend to dwell on mistakes, ours is not the life for them 😀
True that! But part of that is because they see it as a mistake. Without bigging myself up I don't think I get it wrong very often, but even when I do, I don't feel like I have so long as I have pursued a solid line of logic. I just accept this is the nature of the dilemma and they only get to play out once and not a hundred times.
Every now and then I might pursue an instinct and that is different!
The object of FPL is not to minimize your bench score every week.
If it were, "lost bench points" would be meaningful. You can play the Chadli rotation game and win. The same cannot be said for owning Wanyama/Bentaleb/Noble.i wear a substantial bench score as a badge of pride
😀
FPL benching dilemmas in terms that Davos Seaworth would understand!
Thanks all, good points.
Something that is more practical as team value rises and permits. Not priority at gw3 though.
RMT
Myhill Butland
Darmian Kolarov Williams Gomez Martin
Sanchez Silva Depay Mahrez Januzaj
Aguero Gomis KoneWC active?
yes
Needs more Joel Ward
Also, not a fan of Gomis or Kone, transfers out waiting to happenkone > diouf
januzaj > westwood
?? who for Gomis
Don't pick Januzaj. It won't end well imo
lol I have two idea's
A) He will be the more efficient Young of this season. He will get game time because LVG doesn't mix his teams up too much. Januzaj also had a strict summer regiment this summer and I think that will give him an edge this season.
B) He plays another 57 minutes and doesn't play again for another few games.
I think he's worth the risk because its either him or DioufDiouf. Diouf. For the love of God DIOUF!
for you I will 😉
Haha. That means we have 11 of the same 15
wait.. should I get Sakho over Diouf? I dropped Payet so that leaves me with no West Ham
I think most would go Sakho. Personally I choose Diouf. I'm not convinced West Ham will be a decent side this year but I look at the creativity Stoke have added and the desire DIOUF showed against Spurs at the weekend before finally getting his goal. I think Sakho is vastly overrated. He had a great start at West Ham as a guy coming from Ligue 2 who was largely unknown. He works hard but I think he's quite straightforward to plan against know hes a known entity
how good did Diouf look? I couldn't agree more about Sakho and the creativity Stoke have added. Do you have Payet? because I picked Depay/Silva over Hazard/Payet
I started with Payet and kept him. I also have Silva who seems better value than Hazard. Can't argue with 12g 12a last year and the relative form their teams are showing.
Diouf looked pretty good. Very lively. Given that Slurs away on paper is a harder fixtures than this coming up that bodes well for himWould you drop Memphis for Payet? If so, what would you do with the spare cash? Diouf will kill it, I agree.
Memphis would cost me the balance I want so I dismissed him as an option
So when I wish you good luck believe me I mean it!!!
WC - thoughts appreciated:
Hart / McCarthy
Darmiam / Williams / Ward / Gomez / Oxford
Sanchez / Depay / Chadli / Barkley / Westwood
Kun / Gomis / Benteke
0.3 ITB
Struggled to consider Barkley v Lukaku myself, but I think Gomis is proving he can fill Bony's shoes.Oxford, Barkley, Westwood look like short term picks, might be worth looking a little further ahead, otherwise you might be transferring them out in a couple of weeks
Sell Bellerin for Kolarov for a hit?
or buy darmian/shaw instead of Kolarov?
idk mate, Kolarov might not be starting for long, with Clichy fit again
yeah, i worry about that. might just wait to see how this week pans out. then there's only 1 more before international break. probably best to just wait out all transfers
Kolarov's form cancels that out
Agree. I got him....
when they say aug22 11:45 is that british time or time in my place? if so is that 11 45 am or 11 45 pm?
11:45 am ... otherwise it's 23:45 ... and UK time
Have a feeling man utd and chelsea attackers will get on the points this gw.
*score well
Costa for a hatty but that won't matter much since no one owns him haha
Anyone else hear phillipe auclair on football weekly dismiss Payet as a far inferior player to Ayew? That's really thrown me off my stride...
I wouldn't be listening to that too much ... is this from a fantasy perspective??
Can't really question his form considering the start he's had and how West Ham are ticking along currently.the article numbers (above) for Payet are interesting. TBH I have not watched any WestHam matches.

How is this team looking guys? What to do with the extra mill? ThanksThere is a decent argument for just saving the extra. Gives flexibility if you want to do Payet -> 8.5, or upgrade the keepers later on.
Not so sure on doubling up on WHU offence, I'd personally swap Payet out to a 8.5, maybe Fab or Ozil or Mata or even Depay after his heroics in the CL match.
I really like how Payet handled himself the other day. Sahko could go but for whom?
worth bringing in YAYA for STERLING for a free FT???
thoughts?Ya
Yes!! Should have done it before the raise.
No
WC Team?
Ruddy/Butland
Darmian/Kompany/Targett/Richards/Saylor
Yaya/Depay/Shanchez/Mahrez/Wanyama
Aguero/Gomis/PelleIf you had Payet, Sakho -> Diof then
2 x 4M defenders, especially one non playing one is a terrible idea
Proabably do depay to payet and then upgrade
why are price changes so late today!
hasnt happened? It has. Check the stickies
where at?
See my comment to Gussy
How do you check the stickies that aren't hot topics? Thanks!
Got to the top of the comments. There is a tickbox, click it then select sort by stickies. You can also sort by discussion rating.
Its set to 'date' by default
Oh that makes life easier! Thanks very much! 🙂
Above the page numbers at the top of the comments, use the drop down menu besides .
They have changed. Richards and Darmian rose and a lot of players fell
We're all watching for double-risers, huh?
Would like Yaya and Gomis to hurry up, myself, as I have shopping to do.I wonder if you'll get them.
Asking a lot since many will be WCing and those transfers have zero bearing on rises. Maybe tho.
Alright boys what a disastrous start to the season and seems like everyone's busy revamp their teams trying to salvage the damage done.
A lot of wildcards have been deployed I am extremely tempted to do so myself but my head tells me otherwise. So I have got two options right now, option A) being deploying wildcard and B) just use my two free transfers wisely and avoid any knee-jerk reactions.
So here they are:
A)
Pants (Hennessey)
Koscienly - Richards - Cresswell (Targett, Morgan)
Payet - Sanchez - Mahrez - Silva - Montero
Gomis - Kun (Ighalo)
w/ 1 ITB
OR
B) 2 free transfers only - Mainly hoping Chelsea players will bounce back with a big response
Pants (Hennessey)
Koscienly - Richards - Apzi (Morgan, Targett)
Ozil - Sinclair - Haz - "Sterling > Silva" - "Hendo > Mahrez"
Sakho - Pelle - Roo
0.2 ITM
AND STERLING JUST DROPPED TO 8.9 AS WE SPEAK FFS
cheers for all opinions! thank you for your timeHow do you get in Aguero for Watford without taking a hit?
Oh sorry my layout must be very confusing, this is my original squad just for reference:
Pants (Hennessey)
Koscienly - Richards - Apzi (Morgan, Targett)
Ozil - Sinclair - Haz - Sterling- Hendo
Sakho - Pelle - Roo
Hendo > Mahrez, roo > aguero?
correct sir
On WC,
Yaya and Pelle (can be Mata or Depay for one week)
or
Silva and Diouf (any sub 6.8M striker)
Schemeicel Butland
Kompany Darmian Richards Gomez Martin (cant think of a better 3rd 4.5M defender)
Sanchez Payet Mahrez Westwood ?
Aguero Gomis ?I prefer Yaya & Pelle, becauce there is Mata/Depay plan
Silva and Diouf
I would welcome any suggestions for downgrades elsewhere in the team to fit in Silva and Pelle, I am open to selling Sanchez if needed
Silva / diouf
Don't go in with a planned transfer. It's effectively like taking 4 pts off your score as at some point down the track it will save you a hitI'm going Yaya over Silva personally but, between those two choices you offer, I like Silva and Diouf.
Who should I get
Sanchez or silva? What would you do with the extra cash? Assuming its significant I'd go with Silva. Ozil can be a decent alternative if you want a way into the Arsenal attack.
Good call BM ...
No current plans Ryan. It's not impossible that I won't have both by gw5
I don't by the Ozil is effective cover for sanchez debate. It's like saying my VW is effective cover for a Ferrari. It may still get me from a to b but not as quickly and I won't have as much funToo many negatives in that 2nd sentence but hopefully you know what I mean
I know what you mean. If you fear Sanchez more then get him
At his price the question is whether Sanch will outscore Oz by 30% for the season...
Assuming Oz is a 5 ppg player, Sanch will need close to 7 ppg...
Who would scare you more, not having? For me, Sanchez.
It's not fear I just think sanchez is on another level as a fantasy asset when on top form. So many goal attempts. I fear silva ownership and next week fixture more
Silva, MCI look to be in better form than ARS at the moment and have better fixtures
Who would you play this week, fellas?
A) Huth (TOT) or Alderweireld (lei)
B) Migs (ars) or Ruddy (STO)
Cheers all ...Toby and Ruddy
Alder and Ruddy for me, based on their opponents.
Aldy (just) and Ruddy
Alderweireld and Ruddy.
I'm not entirely convinced by Tottenham, but Leicester has over-achieved so far.Cheers lads.
Hey Ryan,
Good H2H this past week... only came down to Benteke(c).
I would have been perfectly happy with a loss in the H2H if it would have meant that Mane got a big score 🙁That jammy offside goal eh 😉 never mind, good win
I only saw the goal today... a bit of an outrageous decision. Jammy does not even begin to describe it. I won't turn down the points, mind you.
Yep fair play to you, swings and roundabouts, we'll all get a good call and a bad call over the course of the season.
Rises and fallers?
Sort comments by sticky at the top
Payet believers,
Tell the rest of us why we should join your cult, bearing in mind the stats in the article above. He may be lively, but what makes him FPL-worthy?
For my money, Shelvey is more potential for much less investment.Got him since Day 1.
Very quality player. Lots of set pieces and very good at 'em. Should always be the focal point of their attack.
imo his should be priced 8.5m. Fantasy towers just wouldn't do it pre-season because he plays for WHU
Payet is overrated. Chadli at 0.6m less will easily outscore by double digits for the season.
Chadli does seem to be overlooked right now, based on the price change sites and based on the lack of appearances in RMTs around here. And has excellent fixtures over the next while...
But I don't think Payet is a bad choice.I've gone with Chadli, and tipping him to score more points compared to a budget 3rd choice striker
Have both
Has his position changed from last season? Seemed a lot more forward last game
hey guys thoughts on this lot? Sitting 2.6 million :/ so activated the wildcard.
Butland (Myhill)
Kolarov Williams Ward (Muniesa Richards)
Mahrez Hazard Sanchez Payet (Westwood)
Aguero (C) Gomis Sakho
0.2 itb, all good to go ? anything looking off?I'd have silva over hazard right now
west brom next, he's got to start firing soon?
Double Stoke defence may be a bit much.
better option at 4.5 ?
You could go for a different keeper at 4.5 (Schmeichel, Ruddy, etc).
As for defenders, Francis might be an idea.
Don't ignore defenders who haven't scored well over only two weeks.
Is it a good move to do Azpi --> Kolarov?
Or just save FT?Save. CHE has loads of CS potential next few GW.
Chances of Leicester getting a CS vs spurs?
slim. I"m benching Huth
Yeah I have Huth aswell
not terrible, spurs seem to lack a bit of cutting edge. Wouldn't be on it at all though, still very good chance spurs will score
20% .. they look more attacking under CR..
this. And less likely to keep CS
Reasons I'm going Yaya over Silva is I will never captain Silva when I have Aguero, so 10m is to much for such a player.
Going to get Sanchez instead, who is captain material.I'm with you on this.
Plus could prove to be better valueIs he really captaincy material though? With so much talent in that Arsenal midfield I think I'd still prefer to go with Aguero
I thinkhe is. He has that explosiveness, and team really on him for the cutting edge. Kun and him rotate almost perfectly as captaincy option, just like Rooney supposedly
But if still prefer him over Silva, as he's much more explosive.
Ha! See just below! Leaning your way
Hmm. After a bit of scanning it seems a common choice is-
A Sanchez and Yaya
B Ozil and Silva
I love Silva but the explosiveness of Sanchez is making me lean towards A.Sanchez+Silva for me. Mahrez and Ayew make it easy
Thanks. Sanchez and Silva is possible but still thinking of keeping Haz
Hazard/ Yaya/ Sanchez/ Maherz/ Westwood
A
I've seen many wildcards with mahrez 5th mid. Recipe for tears imo. 4th mid for me, with bench fodder
Any chance of a 4.4 mid before the week is out? Hoping Benteleb
Due a fall according to fpl stats. Guess a few WCs in there. A 4.4 Bentaleb and 11.4 Haz may be back in my team come saturday
you WC too?
yes mate
woho good luck
Possible. There may be some playing 4.4s from the promoted teams, but they will be a lottery.
Is cashing in on Gomez after his 2nd rise silly, or shrewd? (On a wc) Pretty much my only good pick to start the season, and I benched him gw1 🙁
nope. Still good home fixtures in front of him and the bet is he will start start them.
I've dropped double risers in the past to gain value and regretted it. They rise twice for a reason.
Thanks all.
