Both our free and Members’ Season Tickers have been updated this morning, with new ratings available for overall fixture difficulty, plus new ratings for clean sheets and goals for our Members.

To accompany the update, we’ve carried out our regular rinse through the forthcoming fixtures over the next month or so, indentifying those sides treated to favourable runs and those who will have to work that little bit harder to fetch the points and Fantasy returns.

The Highs

Newcastle
Alan Pardew’s side have surprised us all with a solid start to the season, founded on a back four that has conceded just a couple of goals to this point. We’d expect that kind of defensive form to continue over the forthcoming run, with perhaps an increased attacking threat thrown into the mix as Pardew looks to go for three points in home matches with Blackburn, Tottenham and Wigan in the next four. Sandwiched within that cluster of St James’ Park encounters, Newcastle go to Molineux and, with Wolves having slipped to back-to-back home defeats, that will surely be a game that the Magpies can approach with confidence.

All in all then, things look peachy for Newcastle and Fantasy managers will now be pondering whether to bolster defensive acquisitions with some attacking assets – Johan Cabaye and Leon Best stand out, although all eyes will be on Hatem Ben Arfa when he returns to action in the Carling Cup tonight.

Chelsea
Despite defeat, Andre Villas-Boas’ side gave a decent account of themselves at Old Trafford on Sunday and will be expected to return to winning ways over their forthcoming matches . A favourable home clash with Swansea begins a run of opponents (SWA bol EVE qpr) that should bring goals and clean sheets – promoting their assets in the minds of Fantasy managers.

Having seen expensive options – Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres – fall from favour, Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge have stepped in to present the key prospects over the coming Gameweeks and significant investment in them, with Jose Bosingwa continuing to attract interest at the back, looks likely.

Arsenal
While Chelsea have a semblance of form to provide a springboard, Arsenal approach a run of favourable fixtures with their confidence and chins on the floor. Nevertheless, an obliging run of opponents, right up until the clash with City in Gameweek 16, should give Arsene Wenger every opportunity to turn things around.

Fantasy managers will be hesitant when it comes to the defensive options on show, but in attacking terms we’re treated to an array of proven talent that will surely flourish in the coming months. We’re still waiting for Robin Van Persie to explode and, with both Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero accelerating away in the goal stakes, the Dutchman has been well and truly overshadowed. The goal threat is still there, though, and Van Persie now has a run of games that could see him begin to claw back the gap between himself and the Manchester duo.

Mikel Arteta’s goal at Ewood Park will also have cemented his place on our radars, particularly while Wenger chooses to rotate Andrei Arshavin and Theo Walcott on the flanks. The return of Jack Wilshere meanwhile, will presumably dent Aaron Ramsey potential as a budget offering.

Liverpool
An awful showing at White Hart Lane on Sunday will have severely dented confidence in Kenny Dalglish’s squad. One glance at our Season Tickers however, reveals that, a home clash with United aside, they now have a run of opponents which should see a hike in Fantasy returns.

Indeed, four Anfield matches in the next six holds the key. While United are one of those, the other three – Wolves, Norwich and Swansea, will surely offer opportunity for goals and clean sheets. Those currently contemplating firing Luis Suarez into the Fantasy ether should consider their options carefully; Steven Gerrard’s return could just provide the catalyst for an upturn in form and fortunes, with Suarez the most likely benefactor.

Also consider…
Wigan – the home clash with a Tottenham side bristling with goal threat will be a tester but, following that, the Latics have a very favourable run of matches, right up until Gameweek 13.

Tottenham – With Emmanuel Adeabayor firing and hoovering up Fantasy owners, Harry Redknapp’s side look in bloom and, if they can find their feet on their travels, could maintain both form and Fantasy profits for weeks to come.

Fulham – Sunday’s comeback from 2-0 down demonstrated the fighting spirit Martin Jol has instilled and, with confidence flowing from that result, the Cottagers could kick-on. Favourable fixtures over the next six Gameweeks should help them continue the revival.

The Lows

Everton
Quite simply, the fixture list is a horror show. The next three has David Moyes’ side facing up to City, Liverpool and Chelsea and, even following that, trips to Fulham and Newcastle sandwich a home clash with United.

Clean sheets look highly improbable – a major cause for concern for those still holding Leighton Baines. The left-back is unquestionably the most creative defensive option available and, with free-kicks and spot-kicks in his locker, also carries a worthy goal threat. However, Baines will surely need to find attacking returns to compensate for a lack of cleanies over the next six. The question will be – just how many goals can Everton muster against such stiff opposition?

Blackburn Rovers
Yakubu’s potential as a cheap forward option revealed itself with his brace in the 4-3 win over Arsenal on Saturday, but caution is required before we begin to consider any options on offer at Ewood Park. Rovers will face three of the sternest defences in the next six with a trip to Newcastle this weekend, followed by home ties with City and Chelsea. Spurs are also at Ewood in this spell, making visits to QPR and Norwich particularly vital if Kean’s side are to continue a climb up the table.

Stoke
Tony Pulis’ outfit seemed perpetually cursed by the fixture list. They are still not clear of tough opponents and, with United, Arsenal and a testing trip to Swansea lined up in the next four, it seems unlikely that Fantasy interest will pick up any time soon.

Asmir Begovic will likely have plenty of opportunity to boost his save point count further then, and, following the 4-0 drubbing at Sunderland, there will surely be few takers for the Stoke back four just yet, regardless of their goal threat from set-plays.

Be wary of…
QPR – While optimism and confidence will be flowing through the Rangers camp, a stiff batch of fixtures is looming to test the new found survival credentials. Fantasy managers will need to consider a tough run of matches from Gameweek 9-12 and hope for rich returns from the next few Gameweeks in the meantime.

Bolton – While Martin Petrov has been attracting Fantasy investment with his recent displays, his output could be in line to dip over the next five Gameweeks as the Trotters run of testing fixtures continues.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Yeah, mainly to not miss the boat. I couldnt justify getting suarez out this week. I planned an audacious transfer:

          Young > Mata
          Suarez > Aguero

But I couldnt justtify either out, young isnt exactly off form and suarez has a peach of a game.

I’ve not done well so far but I’m fairly happy with my current team:

    Given, Ruddy
    Kompany, Enrique, Shawcross, Brown, Simpson
    Silva, Mata, Sess, Cabaye, Moses
    RVP, Suarez, Adebayor

0.3M in the bank and 2 transfers – any moves needed this week?

I have the same 3 and will stick with Walcott for now. I don't believe that Swa will be a push over, we'll probably gonna score from set piece. And I believe Torres could/ will score again. Still waiting regarding Mata and Ars fixtures are still way better. We only need Walcott to start which I think it will happen. So come on Theo give me my hat trick that I was waiting!!

Also Bolton are conceding like mad for now.

Im unsure though, Walcott has looked our biggest threat in most matches. It's a game where he could get one of his explosive scores. Has Mata looked that much of a threat FPL wise? I'm tempted to lose Nasri over Walcott.

Thinking about getting rid of RVP and upgrading Taarbat in midfield to Nani? Is it wise to pull the trigger this week or wait until next week?

    Team at the moment is:-

    Foster Vorm
Kompany De Laet Berra A Hughes Brown
    Taarbat Dyer Nasri Arteta Mata
    Adebayor RVP Dzeko

    got 2 FT's, any suggestions?

Both RVP and Taarabt have a good chance of scoring well this week, would be a bad time to get rid, nani has stoke away which will be tight imo. Wait a week, then if arsenal fail again think about losing rvp and arteta or both, personally id keep taarbat for the season, think he will score well for his price.

As long as Aguero price doesn't rise before Saturday, I tell myself to fully believe that he will be rotated and/or subbed early for a big game with Bayern Munich on next Tuesday.. And, importantly, RVP will outscore him this week.

    AVB bitchin about Smalling goal
Take a look at your own team defense
Take a high line that far from the goal and a high cross in that area becomes the tenders responsibility to punch or catch. Some of his players pull forward, some stand still and some go with the United players. Very poor set piece organization and he shuffles blame to the linesman on a very close call anyway.

United line up 4 players offside and they move on Young's approach. CHE players are running a fire drill. All that crossing and the linesman mistakes a CHE player on the far side (standing still) as keeping United level. 10 mistakes on the CHE side and lets blame the lowest paid man involved. Just saying Id have more respect if he were to man up a bit but that's unlikely

2 offside goals and a non-penalty at Old Trafford.

That goal was to go 2-0 up and it ended 2-1 with you scoring a handball goal. How you can use that as an example of United being hard done but I do not know. But I guess it is the best you have because United get all the decisions all the time. It's a f*cking disgrace.

Excuse me. You said that Chelsea scored an offside goal which in the end had no bearing on the final result. Whereas had the linesman correctly given offside for 2 of your goals then it would have been a draw.

Do you want to list every bad decision made by the officials on Sunday, do you have enough time as it is pretty lengthy, and all in favour of United.

Not if it was the other way round every United fan on here, virtually everyone would post "United get all the decisions". Which is exactly what happened last year. Which tells its own story.

The point is that United get them more often than any other team and every football fan other than United fans know this.

Find the post where a non-biased applebonkers agrees with my analysis of that game. It was that the only incorrect decisions were not sending Luiz off and not sending Vidic off earlier. It was earlier this week, when I was trying to find out who United's 12th man would be, I didn't know they would have a 13th as well.

It's no surprise that after Fergie has a go at the FA and tells how important United are to them that the officials give a performance like that.

you're not covering yourself in glory here either AP. everything in that list is probably debatable and filtered through the eyes of a man utd fan and visa versa for a countering chelsea list. pluck 2 incidents out for example. the zhirkov penalty is labelled definitely not a penalty by utd fans whilst shock horror the terry shoulder is labelled a clear penalty. it's all embarrassingly one sided either way. if you're going to call STB an idiot at least don't effectively do exactly the same

High line worked perfectly, i.e. playing the opposition offside. Problem with it is that when you play at Old Trafford you play the house rules and therefore United have an extra 2 yards to be onside.

i meant it's a bad example. they defended that free kick like most sides would. AVB is a bit cheeky going on about decisions today but it's his job on the line when chelsea lose points. also offsides are just about the only black and white things in football... with the benefit of several replays and stills.

            2 offside goals
Free kick for first goal not a free kick
            Not a penalty
Ramires booked for getting the ball.

Rooney blocking Sturridge in the box if you are going to count the Ivan one. Bosingwa got the ball so no way should have been sent off not even close to being a penalty. Cole would have been unlucky to have been sent off as he was trying to block the shot and was unlucky that both of them hit each on their follow throughs.

Torres was onside I think but don't know, he must have thought he was off. 🙂

Forgetting about AVB tactics for one moment. Maybe he is critising the officials because he is pissed, or trying to deflect the critism off his players like a certain Mourinho used to do. Using the old "the whole world against us approach". Then in the changing room he gave Terry and co a nice kick in the balls. 🙂

I agree...all "good" coaches deflect stuff like that...I guarantee he'll have roasted them about it. Dwell on it? Highly unlikely...And the team don't need the coach to tell them they got shafted on a call...if that is how they truly feel about it...again I have to reiterate that no-one knows what context his comment was taken from and we ALL moan about things that go against us...whether we were partially to blame for it or not..it's human nature...I think his pint has always been that if those decisions were called then the game would have been different and tackles flyin in and desperate measures taken would not have occurred. That is really all he's ever meant to imply by all that offside nonsense. Anyway...the next game at the Bridge should be real fun...

Could work out as everton have done well against man city of late but still risky esp if your tripling up.

    Is Baines -> STaylor/Jones/Enrique worth a 4 point hit

This allows me to do Brunt -> Nani next week (for United's home game against Norwich)

Currently would be playing de Laet this week to avoid Baines away to City. Following week would be Baines at home vs. Liverpool. Effectively this whole deal translates into:

de Laet this GW then Baines and Brunt GW7 (or similarly priced mid)
    vs.
    STaylor/Jones/Enrique then STaylor/Jones/Enrique and Nani GW7 (with a 4 point hit).

Thinking out of the box, with plenty of people offloading him seems more likely for him to produce and I would love Tevez playing instead of Aguero. Torres is practically owned by nobody, so its not worth the risk IMO

Thoughts on Modric long term? 7.9 seems a great price, but is Arteta a better option?

Modric is not an fpl player. He assists the assist and rearly score goals. Don't get carried away just because he found the net on Sunday.

      I think Arteta better option.

Modric plays deeper in a 4-4-2, and when Spurs go 4-5-1 its always VDV off the striker.
Having said that, we (arsenal) are pony at the moment.

    Gentleman,

    A. Adebayor + Mata
    B. Suarez + Arteta

Form says A, which is what Im currently on, but fixtures are nice for Pool and Ars. Im on wildcard so no hits involved.

In my minileague all of these players are differentials. (madness)

Stick with A. I love the fact people say how good Arsenal's fixtures are coming up... Wasn't Blackburn going to be a good match for Arsenal last week, look how that turned out!

I know, but for a midfielder they don't look a great option atm. RVP maybe a different story but Mid/Def would be a no go for me until they get back on track. Bringing in Mata will potentially be a permanent move for the next 5 weeks too, Chelsea have got some good fixtures coming up.

Ronaldo just spent a few seasons without any decent end product... when he found that, he just went nuts. Nani is a great player and will probably get even better, but he'll never be as good as Ronaldo. It's annoying that people keep mentioning the "after 100 games" comparison stat recently - Ronaldo played 196 times for Utd, I guarantee you that in Nani's next 96 games, he won't get anything like the stats Ronaldo got in his last 96 games for Utd.

I have 2 freebies and I am selling Osman and I was thinking of doing this:

    A. Mata in for Osman and save the other transfer.

The other option would be like this:

    B. Sell Osman and Holt. Bring in Aguero and Johnson (Norwich).

Which option is better? I currently have no Chelsea coverage and Silva as City coverage. Thanks.

    Best captain choice? out of:

    Given (Krul)
    Bosingwa, Taylor R, Kompany (Simpson)(Brown)
    Nani, Arteta, Silva, Moses (Dyer)
    Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor

Probably go Adebayor, failing that Rooney. You thinking Moses ahead of Simpson and Brown then? I've done the opposite

    A) Sess > Cabaye or SWP (if so which one?)
    B) Suarez & Moses > Adebayor & Cabaye or SWP - will cost 4 points

Was leaning towards option B but both Liverpool & Wigan come out will in the fixture frisk! Thoughts?

Currently 90 points behind leader in mini league using Sun scoring system, need real help to catch up otherwise my season is over!

    Given
    Lescott Huth Agger Collocini
    Silva Nani Moses
    Dzeko Rooney Suarez

3 transfers coming up on 4 oct, Agger for Simpson definite but want to ditch Moses for either Sinclair Larsson or Mata and the leader has Aguero thats why im losing ground, any ideas to save my season would be much appreciated!

Definitely get Mata as he is a bargain in the Sun game.

Maybe Get Brown instead of Simpson as he is the same price and you already have a Toon defender.

Do you have any spare cash for transfers?

Bent > Aguero, Jagielka > Simpson worth 4 point hit? Or just do jagielka > simpson? Team is linked.
