We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I miss the old days 🙁

There's so much ill informed crap spouted here these days and it seems folks take it as gospel.

    Aaaah well.

Same. I mostly lurk and then post when I feel I can contribute. Especially when there's a name I recognise. It's a shame.

People take my posts seriously, its utterly depressing.

I complained on Saturday that I'd transferred out Steven Taylor when the teamsheets came out, and I got genuine commiserations posts in response. Whats wrong with these people! That said he got a clean sheet....

On paper my defence can match clean sheet potential this week with Cedric and Kos, however, Southampton don't fill me with confidence, seen enough of them this season to conclude they will concede against Norwich. Hence, i'm considering making changes to my backline.

Long term i think Liverpool will keep more clean sheets this season than people expected. I said this 2 weeks ago on here.

If you want to take a -8 for 2 def transfers, go ahead. It's simply insane.

I'm off to bed.... before the lunacy effects me!

You can play 3 defenders so your -4 will require a clean sheet to break even. Do only if there is likely to be price swings/drops.

Nah. We don't need the money and won't sell Vidal and Pogba in the same window. Paul will only leave if he asks to like Vidal did, and I don't think he wants to. He requested the #10 shirt for this season. He's staying and taking on more responsibility.

hmm annoying when you own someone from the start - they fall one week then rise the next week but you don't get your money back i.e. Wilson is only worth 5.4 now to me. been playing for a few years and can't remember being in that situation before

Sorry for the long post. I’ve been looking at the BPS from over the last 3 gameweeks. In short, fullbacks have been thriving from the new system, scoring more bonus points each gameweek than strikers. The bonus points have been split between defenders and midfielders, perhaps if this trend continues, a move to 3-5-2 with premium fullbacks would be key to a successful season? Now maybe it’s down to the fact that strikers aren’t scoring well yet, in fact, they haven’t scored more than midfielders in any gameweek so far. Goalkeepers seem to only be rewarded if they make a number of saves in a tight game. It is still early days. But for the moment, make of it what you will.

I get the feeling this could be to do with the rise of 4-5-1, the number 10 playmaker and wingers who cut inside. Certainly there are a handful of Mids across the league that run their teams. Hazard, Sanchez, Depay, Payet, Siggy last year, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Shaqiri soon to be, Eriksen etc.

The only team that doesn't have a fulcrum midifielder are Everton who have played with roving wingbacks for years.

Ps not all fbs or cb's are created equal some cb's will do better under the new system and some fbs will also and we need to be smarter than simple analysis like this in order to find them.

I've been wondering why top teams like MCI ARS and CHE do not play 2 strikers against bottom teams and badger them into submission. Regardless of opposition they stick to 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1.

It just seems to be a better balanced structure to have the lone forward supported by attacking midfield / strikers running through. Having played in both I find the 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 much better than the static 4-4-2 structure. Never played in a 3-4-1-2 admittedly

City played 4-4-2 often last season and look how that went. Not being outnumbered in midfield is essential in modern day football, playing with two strikers is not.
