We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

With both West Brom and Stoke struggling in last nights games despite playing strongish teams are we looking at a low scoring game this weekend?

Surprised at the lack of love for Anya at 4.5. Looks a far better propsect than Westwood to me. Stats promising.

If you could be sure he'd play every week. I looked at him when wildcarding but Watford have many options. For a 4.5 I want someone nailed that can get the odd goal or assist and Westwood is that exactly.

I think he only played 27/44 games in the championship. Not 100% nailed.

    A. Darmian(Swa)

    B. Payet(Liv)

leaning towards Payet but Liverpool got 3cs now, that D is tight!

It's tempting, but I feel I may have left it too late now.

Given the fixtures this week for Targett, Mane and Haz I'm toying with playing them this week and then wildcarding next.

        E) should actually be Kolarov instead of Sagna, and there's also

        J) Shaw & Mane -> Sagna & Yaya

It's never too late too WC. I've seen lots of WC teams on here which look amazing. Even I'm WCing this week, and I have never used my WC before GW 30 in my "FPL Career"

Hi Jinswick. Happy new season to you!

I'm in a similar pickle to you and have lots of the same players. I'm also getting left way behind with TV (which seems to be moving much more quickly this year - I think?). I've actually just been tinkering with a WC team and am seriously contemplating hitting that button.

All of the options you have listed look good. Id probably go for B) myself.

Hi AB, same goes to you!

Funny you should say that about the WC, I've been dithering on that myself this week also and am now talking myself out of it for leaving it so late. If Mane is confirmed fit for NOR then I think it makes sense to save the WC and do either B or C (or maybe H depending on Sakho news). If he's out then i think it probably has to be G or J (or maybe a last minute WC 🙂 )

If not this week, when do you plan on pushing the WC button?

        1. AB.

          10 years, 3 months ago

I have Mane and Hazard in my team also - so looking at this week in isolation I'm pretty happy with things. But its the rising cost of players and the bigger picture that is pushing me towards the WC. The problem is that the players that I want to get in (Kolorov, Silva, Sanchez, Wilson etc) are all going up so quickly that if I don't act now I'm not going to be able to afford them all.

          Dilemma's, dilemma's...

Mmmm, I want those 4 also. Since it is now Wed I think it's worth waiting for news on Mane and if he's out then take a 4 pointer to get 2 of the 4 players you mention. The most they are going up this week is another 0.1m each imo, so not disastrous.

Yeah, you're probably right. I have 0.2 left over with my preferred WC team at the moment - so I can probably afford to sit and watch for a little longer.

My headache would certainly ease if Hazard, Mane and Sakho played and scored some decent points this weekend! Fingers crossed

        I have Kolarov.

I said before the season started that Southampton will not keep many CS's with the absence of Toby/Clyne/Forster/Schneiderlin. Never considered Cedric as a good option, I still don't.

McCarthy is just going to be a bench fodder most likely, won't play him.

I think they'll still be ok. It looks like they are signing Van Dijk who is decent, and once Berty is back it'll be:

          Berty--Fonte--Van Dijk--Cedric
          ------Wanyama--Clasie

Fixtures aren't too bad either, and Cedric has good attacking stats.

Still looks "meh" to me. Clasie is a terrible replacement for Schneidrerlin imo. Isn't defensive at all, more of a Deep Lying Playmaker.

    Guys,

I'm torn and I need advice. Last week i sought no advice and decided to keep Rooney ahead of Costa in my WC team, obviously an error.
Now I want to get rid of Rooney so I'm thinking Rooney/Ayew for Diouf and Pedro. Only problem is this will mean a 8 point hit. This is the only combination I'm happy with as it means I get a Chelsea attacker and I don't currently have one and Diouf has good games coming up.

My question is is it worth the 8 point hit? All advice welcome.

Obviously I'll do it after tomorrow nights game in case Rooney bags 5 or something, if I do do it at all.

        Prodl: 2/3 CS's, decent fixtures
        Francis: Attacking potential, great fixtures.

        Can't find any better 4.5's.

All it takes is 2 FT's to change formation. Not that much of a strife. I still have a theory that mid's are better value then strikers.

    What should I do

    Cech
    Cedric, Clyne, Azpi
    Mane, Hazard, Mahrez, Payet
    Wilson, Aguero, Kane

    Hennessey, Sinclair, Oxford, Baker

    A) Mane > Shaqiri / Chadli giving me 0.9
    B) Sinclair > Westwood giving me 0.4

    So, Ryan...

Explain to me the current fetish for dumping good players and taking hits to do so?

It almost seems as if the solution to a low scoring GW is to give 4 or 8 of your few points away. 😕

I'm not too sure but I'm guessing people think they players they are bringing in are better than the ones they are selling. I do believe that some are going too far and doing a few too many sideways transfers.

Tempted to dump Gomis for a differential in Rondon after the window shuts. West Brom have some very tasty fixtures coming up, everyone is piling on Gomis and I don't know whether he'll keep up his scoring run. Opinions?

Am I right in saying that if Shaqiri was a striker in FPL, he would be in more teams? People seem to prefer Gomis + 4.5 mid over Shaqiri + 4.5 striker when playing their WC's. The fear of playing 3-5-2...

    1. SUAREZ_MESSI_COUTINHO
      • 10 Years

No. Every decent player has seriously considered 3-5-2 . Its Gomis' points and stats that people are going for him, rather than Shaqiri or Ayew, (both could be very good),but Gomis hasn't disappointed so far.
Shsqiri as a striker would probably have less appeal.

But 6-6-6 isn't amazing from Gomis. Fixtures getting tough. One assist from any mid and they outscore him.

And had 5 goals in the last 6 games last year. So currently he is almost ' a goal a game ' striker. If Shaqiri shows a good level of consistency and Gomis form drops, he might be a better option,

Erm, so the kneejerk of the week right here. This is what I'm thinking.

      Kane -> Wilson
      Mane -> Pedro
      Huth -> Kolarov
      -8

I've missed a few price rises already due to midweek games and Mane's injury status etc. I will end up with a rotation headache but thats part of FPL and I don't mind having a strong bench when there are iffy starters like Kolarov and Gomez in my lineup.

To be fair though, he's had chances. He could very easily have had 3 goals in his first 2 games and his ownership would be through the roof right now. Watford doesn't count as he got injured early. He keeps getting into those positions that he did against Newcastle and Everton and he will score goals.

I'm scouting Pedro for another week as well. Refuse to give up on Hazard before a game like Palace at home. If Pedro outscores him again though, I may have no choice but to pull the trigger.

                  Ryan, thoughts on Coutinho?

I like what I've seen although Liverpool are struggling a little to convert chances. Would mean losing Depay though probably which I'd rather not just yet...

I'll hold the FT this week definitely, anyway.

I'd hold for this week. I feel as if Depay is on the cusp of being a great FPL option, just waiting to see the results. Coutinho looks good but it would seem a sideways transfer to me.

Long term it looks good though. Kolarov is gold as we know and will pay back the hit after a few weeks at the most. Pedro will provide points and Wilson is a handy make weight and offers value long term as a 3rd striker.

I don't necessarily think the 8pts will pay itself off this week but over the next 3 or 4 it surely will? Spurs and Southampton have really struggled for goals so far and are in europa.

Which defenders would you start from this lot?

          A) Targett (NOR) - pretty nailed on this week given the fixture and Berty being out
          B) Shaw (swa) - tricky fixture but United looking solid defensively
          C) Bellerin (new) - better fixture than Shaw, but no Kos is a worry
          D) Huth (bou) - average fixture, decent goal threat
          E) Coates (avl) - average fixture, team not looking great - probably my last choice
