We delve into the Gameweek 3 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Up front, we assess Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool’s lone forwards, whilst there’s plenty to analyse in the centre of the park, as we take a look at some standout statistics from Villa, Palace, United, West Ham and Norwich.
With both West Brom and Stoke struggling in last nights games despite playing strongish teams are we looking at a low scoring game this weekend?
Surprised at the lack of love for Anya at 4.5. Looks a far better propsect than Westwood to me. Stats promising.
If you could be sure he'd play every week. I looked at him when wildcarding but Watford have many options. For a 4.5 I want someone nailed that can get the odd goal or assist and Westwood is that exactly.
I think he only played 27/44 games in the championship. Not 100% nailed.
who to play this week? why?
A. Darmian(Swa)
B. Payet(Liv)
leaning towards Payet but Liverpool got 3cs now, that D is tight!Bottomed out...
Team is in a bit of a shambles....So many options...
A) Coates -> Sagna
B) Shaw -> Kolarov
C) Ozil -> Yaya
D) Mane -> Coutinho
E) Shaw & Ozil -> Sagna & Yaya (-4)
F) Ozil & Mane -> Silva & Chadli (-4)
G) Ozil & Mane -> Yaya & Coutinho (-4)
H) Ozil & Sakho -> Silva & Wilson (-4)
I) Mane & Sakho -> Yaya & Wison (-4)
Ruddy
Shaw, Bellerin, Targett
Hazard, Ozil, Mane, Mahrez
Kun, Benteke, Sakho
Rudd, Huth, Coates, Sinclair
Bank 0.7m, 1FTWC?
It's tempting, but I feel I may have left it too late now.
Given the fixtures this week for Targett, Mane and Haz I'm toying with playing them this week and then wildcarding next.
E) should actually be Kolarov instead of Sagna, and there's also
J) Shaw & Mane -> Sagna & YayaIt's never too late too WC. I've seen lots of WC teams on here which look amazing. Even I'm WCing this week, and I have never used my WC before GW 30 in my "FPL Career"
Hi Jinswick. Happy new season to you!
I'm in a similar pickle to you and have lots of the same players. I'm also getting left way behind with TV (which seems to be moving much more quickly this year - I think?). I've actually just been tinkering with a WC team and am seriously contemplating hitting that button.
All of the options you have listed look good. Id probably go for B) myself.Hi AB, same goes to you!
Funny you should say that about the WC, I've been dithering on that myself this week also and am now talking myself out of it for leaving it so late. If Mane is confirmed fit for NOR then I think it makes sense to save the WC and do either B or C (or maybe H depending on Sakho news). If he's out then i think it probably has to be G or J (or maybe a last minute WC 🙂 )
If not this week, when do you plan on pushing the WC button?I have Mane and Hazard in my team also - so looking at this week in isolation I'm pretty happy with things. But its the rising cost of players and the bigger picture that is pushing me towards the WC. The problem is that the players that I want to get in (Kolorov, Silva, Sanchez, Wilson etc) are all going up so quickly that if I don't act now I'm not going to be able to afford them all.
Dilemma's, dilemma's...Mmmm, I want those 4 also. Since it is now Wed I think it's worth waiting for news on Mane and if he's out then take a 4 pointer to get 2 of the 4 players you mention. The most they are going up this week is another 0.1m each imo, so not disastrous.
Yeah, you're probably right. I have 0.2 left over with my preferred WC team at the moment - so I can probably afford to sit and watch for a little longer.
My headache would certainly ease if Hazard, Mane and Sakho played and scored some decent points this weekend! Fingers crossed
I) looks decent.
I'm in a similar position, did Mane and Sakho to Pedro and Wilson.
That's a nice move, but it would only leave me with Kun for WAT, which feels a tad light.
H or I for me.
Would you have a Man United defender on WC?
Tricky one. Not for me as I don't see any cleanies in the next 3 - swa, LIV, sot.
I can see them keeping CS's against Liverpool and Southampton tbh.
I dunno, I think Benteke will cause them a lot of problems.
Maybe SOT, but i think that's unlikely myself.
Yes - I think they'll remain fairly tight
Play three of the following:
A) Kolarov
B) Darmian
C ) Gomez
D ) Williams
E ) Richards
Or bench Payet and go for a back four?A & C for sure. Then either E or B. E shading it for me
Reckon united will score at Swans?
Hmmm, actually it's very tight between B, D & E. 3 sided coin toss!
ABC
ABC
Which option?
A) Shaw + Butland/McCarthy
B) WBA defender + Fabianski/McCarthy (Or another GK pairing)
Cheers 🙂A) with Kolarov/Cedric
Any danger McCarthy loses his spot once Speroni is back?I have Kolarov.
I said before the season started that Southampton will not keep many CS's with the absence of Toby/Clyne/Forster/Schneiderlin. Never considered Cedric as a good option, I still don't.
McCarthy is just going to be a bench fodder most likely, won't play him.I think they'll still be ok. It looks like they are signing Van Dijk who is decent, and once Berty is back it'll be:
Berty--Fonte--Van Dijk--Cedric
------Wanyama--Clasie
Fixtures aren't too bad either, and Cedric has good attacking stats.Still looks "meh" to me. Clasie is a terrible replacement for Schneidrerlin imo. Isn't defensive at all, more of a Deep Lying Playmaker.
I quite like the Butland/Ruddy rotation, but that will set you back an extra 0.5m
Any mods here atm?
Yep
Hi 🙂
Hi !
Morning Peasant
Hey TM :o)
Well, I had a Vespa and a Parka.
Was there a follow-up, or did you want to see if you could get away with swearing??
not sure which team to field this gw4.
should targett / payet deserve to be in my first eleven and who should i take out?
mccarthy
gomez / darmian / kolarov / richards
mahrez/ sanchez/ silva/ depay/
gomis/ agueroGood to go?
Schmeichel
Azpi Cedric Francis
Hazard (vc) Pedro Sterling Mahrez
Aguero (c) Benteke Wilson
Subs: Hennessey // Fletcher Coates STayloryes
Guys,
I'm torn and I need advice. Last week i sought no advice and decided to keep Rooney ahead of Costa in my WC team, obviously an error.
Now I want to get rid of Rooney so I'm thinking Rooney/Ayew for Diouf and Pedro. Only problem is this will mean a 8 point hit. This is the only combination I'm happy with as it means I get a Chelsea attacker and I don't currently have one and Diouf has good games coming up.
My question is is it worth the 8 point hit? All advice welcome.
Obviously I'll do it after tomorrow nights game in case Rooney bags 5 or something, if I do do it at all.If you're doing an 8 point hit after you WCed, you're doing something wrong. No, It's not worth the 8 point hit imo.
I think Ayew is worth keeping so ideally I'd like to see you sell someone else
My other mids are Yaya, Maharez, sanchez and westwood. The others I don't want to lose.
You only need 0.5 right? to sell Rooney to Costa? maybe you can get it from the defence?
Ayew has better stats than Pedro.
I don't mind the hits if it sets you up with the players you want going ahead.
I took -12 this week to correct a bad W/C.Just do Rooney -> Diouf.
Rooney -> Diouf.
Ayew is on par with Pedro, no need to -4 that.
Mane - coutinho for a -4? As will have to free up .1 elsewhere?
Only if he's out this week. Depending on the rest of your team I'd look to get a MCY mid over Cout via a hit.
Agreed thanks mate will have to see if mane starts thursday then keep my tr till next week
Depay to yaya before price changes happen or save ft?
I'd hold onto him. United should be scoring more goals and it will click soon.
Cheers. Thanks for saving my FT!
This. He's one to keep.
who would you rather play this week?
A. Darmian(Swa)
B. Payet(Liv)
Thanks!A
a
Bench one:
A) Huth (bou)
B) Francis (LEI)
C) Williams (MUN)It depends.
If you have Mahrez, bench Francis.
If you have Wilson, bench HuthHuth
Have activated my WC, and wondering if this is a good side?
Plan is to ship out Clyne for ARS defender, after LIV's good fixtures.
Butland/Ruddy
Clyne - Gomez - Kolarov - (Huth - 4.0)
Sanchez - Pedro - Yaya - Mahrez - (4.5)
Aguero - Benteke - Wilson
0.5 ITB
Any help and suggestions are warmly welcomed:)I wouldn't have a 4.0 in a WC team.
Looks good otherwise, maybe Huth ---> Francis/ProdlLooks all good except for double Lpool defence. Downgrade Clyne and make the 4.0 better
Thanks. So you mean double pool isn't a good deal for the forthcoming 3 home matches?
It definitely is. Don't listen to him.
I thought so, cheers 🙂
I don't like this Wilson chap. I think him and Mahrez are flattered.
I like the rest though. well, sayng that, Benteke still has it to prove reallyYer, fair enough he might do but I'm still digesting what this Bournemouth side are capable of doing going forward.
From what I've seen at present they just give me a pointer to Arsenal being pretty average at the moment.
WC team looking like this, can't see myself making any big changes too it. Opinions?
Butland, McCarthy
Shaw, Kolarov, Gomez, Prodl, Francis
Sanchez, Silva, Pedro, Shaqiri, Mahrez
Aguero, Wilson, 4.5
0.1 ITB3-5-2 it is then? Good team.
Do you reckon ManU to hold steady?
How long do you reckon Speroni is out?Not sure if United can hold steady, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
McCarthy is really a bench fodder, don't know when Speroni is back.FPL has him back on 29th. DO you think he goes straight into the team or will McCarthy still continue?
McCarthy is the GK Pardew bought and has possession. I guess he keeps the spot until such time as he has a bad game.
Thanks Ruth... you the Babe :). helps me earn 0.5 out of him and invest it elsewhere.
Solid.
For me I would go:
Shaw, Shaqiri & 4.5 -> Cedric/Lovren, Anya, Gomis, or Targett, Anya, TekkersShaw better then Lovren/Cedric
Shaqiri better then Gomis
4.5 = 4.5Agree to disagree 🙂
Decent, not sure on two promotes defenders and I a bargain mod prices striker emerges you're in strife
I just gave the benefit of the doubt to Prodl + Francis
Prodl: 2/3 CS's, decent fixtures
Francis: Attacking potential, great fixtures.
Can't find any better 4.5's.
All it takes is 2 FT's to change formation. Not that much of a strife. I still have a theory that mid's are better value then strikers.
3-5-2 it is then? Good team.
How long do you reckon Speroni is out?Reply fail to Puyol 🙁
What should I do
Cech
Cedric, Clyne, Azpi
Mane, Hazard, Mahrez, Payet
Wilson, Aguero, Kane
Hennessey, Sinclair, Oxford, Baker
A) Mane > Shaqiri / Chadli giving me 0.9
B) Sinclair > Westwood giving me 0.4
C) Save FTA
C
Sinclair's hat trick tonight don't put you off then.
So, Ryan...
Explain to me the current fetish for dumping good players and taking hits to do so?
It almost seems as if the solution to a low scoring GW is to give 4 or 8 of your few points away. 😕I'm not too sure but I'm guessing people think they players they are bringing in are better than the ones they are selling. I do believe that some are going too far and doing a few too many sideways transfers.
*the
Because those good players blank, so people get rid.
After one week though? it seems to be the case with a few WCers from last week.
It can become an addiction, like some kind of FF cocaine.
I've had it before and it's not easy to quell the urge but I shall try harder this time.
We just need a Depay hattrick this week to get the bandwagon going again.
Tempted to dump Gomis for a differential in Rondon after the window shuts. West Brom have some very tasty fixtures coming up, everyone is piling on Gomis and I don't know whether he'll keep up his scoring run. Opinions?
Keep Gomis, he is the focal point of the attack and has good fixtures after the United game.
sell GOmis
What does he have to do? 3 goals in 3 games
never get bonus, fixtures turn harder
Yer I dumped him for Lukaku this week. Don't think he's the greatest striker I've seen.
Not in Luk's class anyway and his celebrations are cringe worthy.Wait till Gomis loses form and/or Rondon gains form. WBA are not prolific & Rondon may take time settling coming from a Russian league.
Is Mane going to play?
No one knows yet. Will have to wait on press conferences.
Wait till thursday euro
Am I right in saying that if Shaqiri was a striker in FPL, he would be in more teams? People seem to prefer Gomis + 4.5 mid over Shaqiri + 4.5 striker when playing their WC's. The fear of playing 3-5-2...
No. Every decent player has seriously considered 3-5-2 . Its Gomis' points and stats that people are going for him, rather than Shaqiri or Ayew, (both could be very good),but Gomis hasn't disappointed so far.
Shsqiri as a striker would probably have less appeal.But 6-6-6 isn't amazing from Gomis. Fixtures getting tough. One assist from any mid and they outscore him.
He's only 7m
So is Shaqiri.
And once he gets 6s every week he'll be the better option. Right now Gomis is the better option.
He has only played one game though? You sound like what everyone was saying about Mahrez after GW 1 😛
Shaqiri still has a lot to prove though. We know what Gomis can do.
Maybe in the EPL he does. But he has shown what he can do in the Bundesliga/WC. Class player, better then that donkey. I still back him to outscore him.
And had 5 goals in the last 6 games last year. So currently he is almost ' a goal a game ' striker. If Shaqiri shows a good level of consistency and Gomis form drops, he might be a better option,
Erm, so the kneejerk of the week right here. This is what I'm thinking.
Kane -> Wilson
Mane -> Pedro
Huth -> Kolarov
-8
I've missed a few price rises already due to midweek games and Mane's injury status etc. I will end up with a rotation headache but thats part of FPL and I don't mind having a strong bench when there are iffy starters like Kolarov and Gomez in my lineup.What sort of rotation headache will you have?
I don't see anything wrong with that move. But I would keep Mane for one more GW if he is fit.Just a fan of Pedro and getting on the Chelsea wagon with Crystal Palace coming up. Southampton played 5 defenders in the last game and are struggling to score.
I'll be benching Ibe every week and I still have Sakho, but I'll have a strong D
Hold fire until you get more information on Mane. He's another one like Depay that is due for an imminent explosion of points imo
Except his stats aren't great unlike Depay.
To be fair though, he's had chances. He could very easily have had 3 goals in his first 2 games and his ownership would be through the roof right now. Watford doesn't count as he got injured early. He keeps getting into those positions that he did against Newcastle and Everton and he will score goals.
You are right actually. Maybe I should be patient with him if he's fit. I can still do the other two moves and give myself another week to assess Pedro
I'm scouting Pedro for another week as well. Refuse to give up on Hazard before a game like Palace at home. If Pedro outscores him again though, I may have no choice but to pull the trigger.
See I'd hate if if I miss out on his points but then again I'd be saving 4pts by not taking the hit. Could be worth while especially if Mane does well.
Ryan, thoughts on Coutinho?
I like what I've seen although Liverpool are struggling a little to convert chances. Would mean losing Depay though probably which I'd rather not just yet...
I'll hold the FT this week definitely, anyway.I'd hold for this week. I feel as if Depay is on the cusp of being a great FPL option, just waiting to see the results. Coutinho looks good but it would seem a sideways transfer to me.
Yeah, what I was thinking, just needed confirmation
Not worth a -8 hit. Kane & Mane has to start scoring soon.
Long term it looks good though. Kolarov is gold as we know and will pay back the hit after a few weeks at the most. Pedro will provide points and Wilson is a handy make weight and offers value long term as a 3rd striker.
I don't necessarily think the 8pts will pay itself off this week but over the next 3 or 4 it surely will? Spurs and Southampton have really struggled for goals so far and are in europa.
Which 3 to play in defense;
Clyne - Targett - Richards - Kompany - Mertz
Any prediction for the SUN vs AVL match?
Do you think Richards gonna get a CS?Clyne
Komp
MertKompany Clyne Mertesacker Norwich are very good away and I fancy Sunderland to bag at Villa Park. Tim Sherwood always goes very attacking against smaller teams at home.
Which defenders would you start from this lot?
A) Targett (NOR) - pretty nailed on this week given the fixture and Berty being out
B) Shaw (swa) - tricky fixture but United looking solid defensively
C) Bellerin (new) - better fixture than Shaw, but no Kos is a worry
D) Huth (bou) - average fixture, decent goal threat
E) Coates (avl) - average fixture, team not looking great - probably my last choiceABC
Shaw, Bellerin, Huth. Don't worry about no Kos, Gabriel is class.
No Targett? He was my nailed on pick! 🙂
Norwich have never lost away under Alex Neil. Very brave to go against them especially following a Europa League away game for Southampton.
B C and one more.

Is 4-4-2 the right formation for this lot? Have 1 Ft but saving this gw.
courtois
Shaw kolarov Gomez morgan
depay mahrez ozil payet
kun costa
McCarthy ighalo Montero whittakerI'd go 3-5-2 and put Montero in instead of Morgan personally.
Cheers. That's the dilemma - which two out of Montero/ payet/ morgan.
For this week 442 is fine. I'd start montero over payet
Which is better?
A. Yoshida + Prodl/Nyom + 0.2 ITB
B. STaylor + Williams + 0.2ITB
C. Richards(A Villa) + Prodl/Nyom + 0ITB
D. Some other combo.
Rest of my defense:
Butland, McCarthy
Kolarov, Gomez, Francis
TIA.C or
Muniesa + ProdlAlready have Butland, not too sure on stoke double up. But right now on C.
Thanks.
Guys when do the members and normal cups open for entries? Pages still have not been updated since last year.
CheersLater in the season. Articles etc will be out.
