Following a Gameweek littered with knocks and niggles, we roll out our usual post-match club-by-club report on the fresh arrivals in the treatment room.

We find Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe with plenty to concern him, whilst Claudio Ranieri plays down the back problem that forced Riyad Mahrez off against the Cherries.

Arsenal
Mesut Ozil missed the Gunners 1-0 win at Newcastle with a minor knee problem. Prior to the match, Arsene Wenger confirmed he expects the German back imminently:

“It’s a slight injury but he is not available to play. He will be out for one week”

Aston Villa
Jack Grealish missed Villa’s home draw with Sunderland after injuring an ankle in training on Friday, while club skipper Gabby Agbonlahor was also ruled out through illness after the club had been hit by a widespread virus.

Post-match, Tim Sherwood brought us this on the Grealish injury….

“Jack twisted his ankle. There was no-one near him. He caught his toe in the turf on Friday. He went over on it. He was sick, gutted. We don’t know how bad it is. We’re hoping it’s just a sprain and the international break might give him an opportunity to be ready for the Leicester game.”

While he also updated us on Agbonlahor’s situation…

“Gabby is not well. He’s had the stomach bug. I think there’s six or seven at the club who have suffered. Gabby was one.”

Adama Traore was also ruled out against the Black Cats having made his debut from the bench at Palace in Gameweek 3. Sherwood was optimistic on his return after the international break…

“Adama is feeling a kick. He got a kick on the back of the calf and obviously rolled his ankle at the same time. The good news is that the ankle is okay. It’s just about the soreness of the kick – and it was too sore for him to take part.”

Bournemouth
The Cherries’ treatment room got a little bit busier this weekend after three of their players sustained weekend injuries. Tyrone Mings lasted just 11 minutes as a sub before being stretchered off, whilst Max Gradel is also a worry for Eddie Howe:

“We need to assess and scan before making a judgement. Tyrone didn’t look good, seeing him in that much pain, it’s not nice to see. Max knew early it was serious. Knee injuries are not good to see. It restricted us tactically. We couldn’t make changes when we needed to to get momentum back.”

Left-back Charlie Daniels was forced off with a knee problem at the break, though is optimistic the problem isn’t serious:

“I had an initial scan and it did not look too bad. Hopefully, it will be nothing long-term but we can’t really tell yet, that was just the first look. Once the swelling has gone down, I will probably have another scan on Tuesday to see how it is.”

The Cherries were also without Joshua King due to a hamstring problem.

Everton
The Toffees are set to be without Tom Cleverley for a period of time after the midfielder was stretchered off in yesterday evening’s goalless draw at Spurs. Post-match, Roberto Martinez admitted the club are uncertain how long Cleverley will be sidelined for:

“The physio is a little bit more positive [than he was at half-time]. I think it is clearly ligament damage – but, straight away, we were fearing it could have been ligament damage and a fracture as well. It shows that Tom is a very, very fit man to be able to get through that collision with a [relatively] minor injury. He will still be out for a while but not as long as we first thought he might be – and we thank the luck that we had there.”

Leicester
Claudio Ranieri confirmed that the Foxes in-form Riyad Mahrez was subbed off at the break after sustaining a back problem during yesterday’s clash with Bournemouth. The Leicester boss eased concerns over a serious injury by revealing:

“We changed Riyad at half-time because he took a kick very early in the game and after that, in the battle, he could not play at full speed. I wanted us to keep pressing forward, so we replaced him as a precaution.”

Southampton
Victor Wanyama – who missed the Saints Europa League exit on Thursday evening with a stomach bug – was again absent for today’s win over Norwich. With rumours of a move to Spurs growing, Ronald Koeman revealed the Kenyan was “not mentally and physically good enough to play” against the Canaries.

Stoke
Mark Hughes has confirmed that Glen Johnson was forced off just after the hour mark against West Brom due to a groin problem.

Swansea
Jefferson Montero missed today’s win over United with a minor thigh problem. After the match, Garry Monk eased fears over the extent of the injury:

“Unfortunately Jeff pulled up in training with a bit of soreness in his quad, but he has had scan and it is nothing clinical.”

Tottenham
Spurs are set to assess Moussa Dembele after the Belgian was stretchered off during the goalless draw with Everton with a foot injury.

The player himself has since posted on Twitter offering reassurance on the scale of the problem.

West Brom
James Chester missed the Baggies 1-0 win at rivals Stoke due to a minor hamstring problem. Callum McManaman also suffered from a similar complaint but was fit enough to make an appearance as a second-half sub.

United had Swansea today. They'll get a few cleanies over the next few weeks. We know how good Swansea's attack has been.

Looks great! WC? If you are on WC, I'd watch on Huth's price and maybe think about removing Targett as his days are numbered once Bertrand is back.

No. WC'd last week because my team was a wreck and I wanted to bump up my team value. I brought in Pedro this week for Payet -- and I know that is a real risk of backfiring -- but Chelsea will start scoring and I get the hunch that Pedro might be their spark.

Does this WC + hit free team really look that bad:

    Ruddy/Rudd
    Azpi Kosc Cedric Huth Coates
    Hazard Yaya Milner Mahrez Redmond
    Aguero Pelle Wilson

I don't feel like it's a bad team but I'm expecting drops on Coates, Huth, Milner, Ruddy and possibly Hazard. THAT's 0.5m!?

I can plug one of those holes with my FT but I feel like I'm being forced into a WC just to keep team value and keep up with all the others who managed to shed their deadweight with early WCs.

I don't like it, these drops are so punitive. Any other managers feeling my pain?

was in similar boat last week and wc'd. wanted to wait till this week but couldn't resist. sold pelle and sakho but did slightly better with wc changes.
think your team is good but i'd wc anyway for the value. don't see point in keeping

Team is decent. I would save the WC and move a couple of lads the next three rounds or so.

Maybe kosc to Kol/azpi and milner to ayew for now and reassess later in week, I don't feel the WC in needed other than losing a few 0.1s

I like the move BUT Kosc/Azpi probably aren't gonna drop!

This is my point. I'm having to obsess over drops, if I'm taking a -4 I need to get rid of Milner & Coates etc, can't indulge in transfers on players who will hold value. It's depressing me.

IT!!! Haven't seen you about much this season 🙂

I've been sort of feeling the pain of price drops early doors but I've been holding steady so far...I don't think being bullied into using your WC just because of a few price drops is a good strategy.

Hi Adam! Yeah, I'm mainly a lurker around here and I think there's a point where you can think too much about this stuff and just need to go with your gut. Only post when I have true dilemmas and want to crowd source a solution.

How you doing this season? It's been very challenging for most.

Yeah...not great unfortunately. Sat around the 500k mark. 3 captaincy blanks in 4 has done me in. And my midfield has been a complete disaster. Long season though...I'll get there and I'm sure you will too 🙂 I started up a pod with a buddy of mine...link in my profile...if you're interested...

That is why I WC'd much earlier than planned. My team was so bad that I was dropping value and points.

Maybe after the transfer window closes you might see a reason to WC.

I shipped out Tekkers because Liverpool haven't really scored all year -- offside, etc -- and they really haven't convinced me that they are going to be a goal machine. I like Milner, but he seems better at creating; but Liverpool are not making the most of their chances.

So, maybe look at stopping the bleeding with Milner first.

      Hazard always starts slow.

    repost

    fternoon peeps

    2 FT, 0.5m itb

    Butland - McCarthy
    Gomez - Darmian - Williams - Richards - Kolarov
    Chadli - Payet - Mahrez - Sanchez - Silva
    Gomis - Aguero - Watmore

looking at getting in Wilson and Westwood to go into a 343 and debating who to sell in mid along with Watmore

    A) Chadli - Sunderland next so leaning keep but worried he may be marginalized by buys of N'Jie and Son
    B) Payet - tbf looked good vs Liverpool and has nice fixtures
    C) Mahrez - if he happens to be out long-term

leaning B since he's not a goalscoring mid but A seems like it makes the most sense

Keep Chadli, If he doesn't get point against Sunderland sell. Palace fixtures start to turn, Sako great value. Can use the cash upgrade Watmore to a player than starts and could get you points from the bench and the odd start.

No advice for this upcoming week I'm afraid, I too have 2FTs (and Payet) and unsure If I should use one or sit it out.

        so you're advocating a 343/352 rotation

          10 years, 3 months ago

To a point 352 seems to be your preferred formation but Sako has looked far more potent than Chadli regardless. Even spending in a 5.5m in for Watmoor means you have someone than might net you points should they be called upon from the bench and you could play every few games when their fixtures look v.good and someone elses bad. So yes :p

Your team is pretty much the same as my team except I have Wilson instead of Watmore and Hoolahan instead of Chadli.

I want to swap Payet for Pedro but am 0.4 out so i'm just going to sit tight til probably GW6 on that front as i'd have to downgrade Williams and he has Watford next so he's staying put.

    Butland - Guzan
    Kompany - Kos - Francis - Bassong - Angela
    Yaya - Ozil - Mahrez - Payet - Wanyama
    Aguero - Benteke - Sakho

    1FT:
    A) Benteke -> Gomis

    Memphis Depay out for who??

    Schmeichel Butland
    Naughton Gomez Richards Kolarov Cathcart
    Sánchez Silva Mahrez Westwood (Depay)
    Agüero Diouf Gomis

I'll have 9.1 to spend on a midfielder but I am not sure who; Pedro is 0.4 expensive. I am open to hits but I try not to take them.

Do we think Spurs' new signings will affect Chadli?

I'd say Chadli is extremely underrated. From what I have seen of him, he looks like he's Spurs' best player this season. Creating many chances and even acting like a 2nd striker, his team-mates just can't finish it.

Son should definitely play on the right. I'd say Chadli is nailed.

Reasons for getting Ayew for me:

One of the most in form players in the league. Big goal threat. Could rise .2

Reasons for not getting Ayew for me:

Current mids(Chadli/Sanchez) both have good fixtures. Watford look decent in defence.
