Not surprisingly, there are more reports on the Wayne Rooney injury surfacing this morning, following on from last night’s claims that the United striker would face several weeks on the sidelines.

United have themselves reported a direct quote from Alex Ferguson on the matter, stressing that Rooney’s setback is only a minor hamstring complaint…

“It’s difficult to say [how long Rooney will be out for]. It’s not a serious hamstring injury but I don’t think he’ll be available for next week. I think he’ll be out for more than a week.”

Ferguson’s comment suggests that Rooney will miss the Champions League tie with Basle on Tuesday, in addition to the home league clash with Norwich next weekend. That would be a major concern for Fantasy managers.

Rooney himself meanwhile, is more optimistic on his chances of making a quick recovery. He delivered his own prognosis via his official Twitter channel…

“Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday…”

Presumably more details on Rooney’s hamstring will surface on Monday, in preparation for the European tie. For now, there will be many Fantasy managers reserving their judgement and transfers, until more details are known.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      nah your team has the right structure, only issue is youve got a big investment in united there - around a THIRD of your total spend - will those 3 bring in a THIRD of your weekly points?

        they have done in the first few gws, but won't do now with roonpig injured...i think i really need to solve dzeko...he really seems to have dipped and esp as mancini loves to rotate so much. I have no more cash in the bank...who do you reckon is a good shout for his value (8.6) or under?

          i think theres a big drop in options once you look below Djeko/Adebayor... theyre the cheapest heavy-weights.

          But I brought in Sturridge last week, with Swansea at Home in mind, but he had to go get himself injured preventing his teram scoring in ther League Cup!

          However, ewith Torres out I'd say he starts (if fit) v. Bolton next weekend.

    I cant help but hope Walcott is out for a few weeks - then I can justify subbing him for Nani... with Rooney potentially out and Velencia needing to brush up his game at RB, Nani's role as Right Winger in that game versus Norwich becomes all the more pivotal...

      Valencia is only at RB for the time being.

      Smalling could be back by next weekend with Valencia/Nani/Young taking 2 positions.

          Nani is hot at the mo, I can't see Fergie resting him in league games anytime soon. More likely against Basel midweek.

    People aren't seriously considering transferring (or transferring) Mata are they? Especially as most of them got him in this week.
    He is a huge prospect and a possible season keeper. He was unlucky yesterday as he was moved out wider due to Nando sending off. I got him in this week and was happy with his score (could have easily been double if AVB wasnt a bastard) as I didnt expect too much this week. Chelsea have excellent fixtures and Mata was being rested for Valencia midweek.
    Sometimes I get the feeling people dont watch football or are very, very fickle
    Rant over!
    p.s how much longer until QPR game? Cheers

          playing in the hole for Chelsea means hes taken Lampard's place, might not quite have the eye for goal yet or the penalties, but its one of THE premium spots to have fantasy cover = Chelseas Attacking Mid

      Agree 100%. I said exactly the same thing on the previous page. QPR kick off just over 2hrs30mins.

      I have no personal involvement in remaining games so am hoping for a dull 1-1 this afternoon, no clean sheets and little owned goalscorers please. Bannan and Derry. Job done.

        Given, Taarabt and Gabbidon for me.... so i cant really win with all 3!
        For me I'd take a 0-0, alternatively Taarabt getting a couple of goals would be superb - and long-overdue...

        good stat.
        its a worry that his goal v sunderland was a red herring, but his pervious form with Valencia showed that he does know where the goal is, and for now he's the most securely dangerous Chelsea cover option, so im happy to keep him

    An interesting ish stat with Mata:

    Real Madrid B: 10 goals in 39 games ... call it 1 in 4
    Valencia: 33 goals in 129 ... again pretty much 1 in 4
    Chelsea: 1 goal in 4 ... exactly 1 in 4.

    So let's assume he'll get about 9 league goals this season, plus assists and BPs

    Do you think that's enough for a 9.5 price tag?

      Will certainly get assists\goals but Too much competition from anelka\sturridge\malouda\kalou for the same position

          +1. His time was only cut short yesterday due to Chelsea being down to 10 men and possibly with AVB having 1 eye on a big CL match with Valencia midweek, where as creator in chief Mata will be central to the managers plans, do you not think?

    Yes. As long as he gets 10+ assists aswell, some bonus, some +1 for clean sheets and 2 for turning out points, should potentially put him up there as 1 of the high scoring midfielders.

    It's all speculation at this stage but the same can be said of any player really. Any midfielder who averages a goal every 4 games sounds pretty good to me. Don't forget he has also scored in champions league already.

            not sure its worth dumping rooney - i get the feeling this is fergie's ploy to get him not to be involved in international friendllies - so in reality just norwich game will be missed. If you got him at 12.0, you also stand to lose 0.2-0.3mm depending whether there will be a price drop should some new news develop

    best option out of the following:-

    Dzeko/Arteta -> Drogba/Anderson
    Dzeko/Taarbat -> Drogba/N'Zonki or Tiote

    Team so far is:-

    Foster, Vorm
    De Laet, Berra, Kompany, Brown, Hutton
    Arteta, Taarbat, Mata, Nasri, Dyer
    RVP, Adebayor, Dzeko

    any suggestions on other possible transfers, got 2 FT's this week, all suggestions welcome...

    Also, whats with Foster dropping in value? 2 CS's in 3 games, yet losing value... Nasri and Dzeko dropped too, Dzeko the better one to drop?

    I'm thinking an 8 point hit.

    Begovic - Vorm (to free up money)
    Mata - Ramires (Same reason)
    Jarvis - Nani

    Is that worth it, I have rooney but don't want to sell and need united coverage, and I think it will work well long term.

    Cech (Vorm)

    Raylor, Jose Enrique, Dunne, Kompany (Senderos)
    Sinclair, O'Hara, Silva, Mata, Moses
    Suarez (Runepig, Holt)

    Ugh.

    Was planning on WC after next week (clearly!), but what do I do this week?

    Was thinking of
    A) Rooney -> Berbatov (or maybe RVP)
    B) Rooney -> Dogbra, Mata -> Nani (-4)
    C) Holt -> ? Best? Di Santos?

    The question is, with WC next week do I dump Rooney for a 1 week punt? Or trade my worst player to some filler to save me money for the WC?

    Next weekend looks abysmal without another decent striker! Help!

    Any help appreciated - I feel like my team is prety shit at the moment but struggling for inspiration (already wildcarded the other in a rage after another bad week.......)

    Kompany, Enrique, Bosingwa, De Laet, Simpson

    Pretty happy with defence

    Silva, Arteta, Dempsey, Moses, Formica

    This is where I am worried - I can play Silva and Arteta every week and was planning to with Dempsey. The other two are bench warmers for me unless they are playing a crap team

    Rooney, Suarez, Odemwingie

    Am a bit concerend about Odemwingie as well

    0.6m in the bank

    If rooney is stil injured by next week then I would prob go for Aguero and Mata for Rooney and Dempsey. Would it be worth taking a hit to change anyone else at that point?
