While the FPL bonus points are yet to be added, the EA PPI Index statistics have been updated and, as it stands, here is a breakdown of how the bonus is currently mapping out. Please note – this is not confirmed and could be subject to change.

Arsenal 3 Bolton 0
Van Persie 3, Song 2, Ramsey 1

Arsenal’s scorers dominate the bonus awards with Aaaron Ramsey picking up the remainder for his part in Van Persie’s opening goal. The Welshman is yet to be credited a second assist for getting a touch to Bacary Sagna’s pass which was converted by Alex Song – we believe that this will be reviewed.

Chelsea 4 Swansea 1
Ramires 3, Bosingwa 2, Mikel 1

Maximum bonus for Ramires with his brace of goals in Chelsea’s victory. Jose Bosingwa’s outstanding season continues with an assist and 2 bonus, while Mikel picks up the single bonus, just edging out Ashley Cole and Juan Mata. Mark Gower and Ashley Williams were the top PPI performers for the Swans.

Liverpool 2 Wolves 1
Suarez 3, Downing 2, Enrique 1

After weeks of missing out on bonus, Luis Suarez at last comes good with the maximum, courtesy of his first-half strike. As we predicted in our ICT analysis, both Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique fetched the remaining bonus. Steven Fletcher was just outside bonus recognition for the visitors.

Man City 2 Everton 0
Milner 3, Hart 2, Aguero, Richards & Balotelli 1

James Milner’s second half strike after emerging from the bench was enough to see him the top PPI ranking and 3 bonus here, while the clean sheet for City saw Joe Hart gain a high PPI score ahead of the back four in front of him, qualifying him for 2 bonus. Two rather unpredictable outcomes. Micah Richards did at least pick up a single point, shared with Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli who all recorded identical PPI scores.

Newcastle 3 Blackburn 1
Ba 3, S Taylor 2, Hoilett 1

No surprises here – Ba recorded the top EA PPI score of the gameweek (59) with his hat-trick. Steven Taylor again soaked up bonus points, despite failing to keep a clean sheet this time around. Junior Hoilett, as expected, sneaked in for a single bonus after another superb display for Rovers that included a consolation goal.

QPR 1 Aston Villa 1
Bannan 3, Collins, Ferdinand & Hall 2

As expected, Barry Bannan’s spot-kick conversion saw him gain the maximum bonus from match devoid of standout performers. James Collins shared 2 bonus with Rangers’ Anton Ferdinand and Fitz Hall, as the defences came out on top here.

Stoke 1 Man United 1
Nani 3, Walters & Etherington 2

While Nani’s PPI Index of 22 saw him out in front in this one, below him, there were an array of players all tightly contesting the remaining bonus. Stoke’s pairing of Jon Walters and Matt Etherington shared 2 points each with identical PPI”s, which meant that Rio Ferdinand and Darren Fletcher just missed out.

West Brom 0 Fulham 0
McAuley & Riise 3, Reid 1

Another match with a tight set of PPI scores – it was West Brom’s Gareth McAuley who claimed the maximum, sharing it with John Arne Riise who received an identical PPI. Steven Reid got just a single bonus point for his showing then, with keepers Ben Foster and Mark Schwarzer ranked next in a game were defences dominated.

Wigan 1 Tottenham 2
Van der vaart 3, Bale 2, Modric 1

Tottenham’s goalscorers Van der Vaart and Gareth Bale claimed the top spots here, with an assist helping Luka Modric to a third place PPI ranking and a single bonus point. Emmanuel Adebayor and Mohamed Diame just missed out on recognition.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Thanks chaps...I thought I had it sorted with the Norwich game and all.

I must agree with regards to Fergies comments...I don't believe him, heard it time and again before. Although you would have thought if it was the old hamstring he'd rest him either way against Norwich!

Yeah the international break is a slight worry for me with regards to this GW. Surly Fergie will try pulling the woll over Capello's eyes by claiming he's "injured" and rest him against Norwich in the hoping Rooney would not be included in the squad!

All you need is even a grade II concussion for Kun or a rolled ankle, hyper-extended knee, dead-leg, hammy...shall I continue on? And do I even need to admonish the masses on the dangers of the Group F between, Arsenal v Olympiakos F or Group E with Chelsea and Valencia?

Here's a challenge for The Scout - what is the average starting price of a player this season compared to last season. I'm willing to bet it is at least 1m more.

Defenders very slightly more expensive ditto with the strikers but midfielders, and particularly the lower-mid range of midfielders much higher.

Yeah, surprising. But then there's a real load of players who hardly play in each squad. The mean number of minutes played last season by all players was only 1627. Also, probably a majority of teams have their 'average' price as being pretty low, around 4.5. There's a lot of Wigan, QPR, West Brom to few Chelsea and Man U. Maybe the price of desirable players is higher than last year, rather than the whole lot.

(I've got a good spreadsheet here, ask me another, ask me another).

Ahhh I see, so for example it would be likely that the starting price of the dreamteam at the end of the season will be considerably higher than the dreamteam of last season then.
Or the most selected XV would be higher than the price of last season.
            Ok.

Why its a decent question? I dont rate him for FPL as he is our defensive midfielder so plays very deep meaning only a slight chance of goals or assists, and he LOVES yellow cards. But he is picking up some bonus points and got an assist this gameweek so although I dont rate him (for FPL) he appears to be offering good value.

Yes. Particularly as it's impossible to have brace of goals in that meaning. The brace referred to the carrying/storage method of the game you shot.

        +1

"So and so is world class! (because they scored a goal from outside the area. Against Stoke. Once.)"

By my definition, you're world class if you'd get in a world XI and preferably if you've done it at a world cup.

Is going into the next GW without Nani or Aguero dangerous? They're surely going to score big next week, and definitely going to be captained by everyone. I have their cheaper alternatives, Young and Dzeko, so should I try to get one of them in for captaincy material?

    Given Vorm
    Bossingwa, Kompany, Enrique, ShawX, Simpson
    Silva, SWP, Walcott, Moses, Surman
    Dzeko, Suarez, Rooney
    1.0mm in the bank

Have 2 free transfers. Dont want to sell Rooney as I think he will be back for the game after Norwich (3 weeks to that game!)

    Thinking Dzeko + Walcott out

    Option 1:
    Aguero + Ramires

    Option 2:
    Adebayor + Nani

What do you guys think? As much as i sh8t myself not having Aguero, i fear he may be rested in one of the next two games. Travels away to Bayern this Tuesday and then to Argentina next week.
However, doing option 2 makes my team less flexible to get Aguero - i would need to make 2 changes

Thought please? Am also torn on making an early change, prices are moving away from me

What to do about Rooney? My current forwards are:

    Nani Nasri Jarvis Brunt Dyer
    Rooney Dzeko Adebayor

Already made one transfer this week (Walcott - Nani).

If Rooney is out for Norwich, which of these looks better:

    a) Rooney - RVP (-4 points)

    b) Rooney, Dzeko - Aguero, Drogba (-8 points)

If I do b then I'd get Rooney back in for Drogba after the City game in GW9 (hopefully after a price drop).

    What do you reckon?

The Ramires bandwagon is stupid, but if you had him for this week then fair play, other than that a perfectly balanced solid team.

scored a goal, was on winning team, did not have a shot off target

These seem to hold the most weight in the PPI Index. Silly but fairer than the man in the stands giving his "favorite" the votes (see Adam, Charlie - Blackpool 2010/11 season)

However, it appears to me that the new system gets it 'wrong' far more often then the old system.

So if we accept neither is perfect all the time, surely the one that gets it 'right' more often is better?

Doubt you can label the former a "system", but yeah - those Milner baps is the kind of FPL landmark we might remember for a long time to come.

    First Check-Point from OT

10:38 | Open training's in progress at Carrington and unfortunately there are quite a few notable absentees, with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez among the missing players.

10:42 | The following 19 players are training: De Gea, Lindegaard, Evra, Jones, Ferdinand, Fabio, Fletcher, Park, Nani, Anderson, Young, Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Owen, Berbatov, Welbeck, Macheda and Diouf. The two goalkeepers are working separately.

10:51 The injured players we knew about last week - Vidic, Cleverley, Rafael, Gibson and Smalling - were joined by weekend casualties. Evans, Hernandez, Rooney in not participating in the session.

Wonder if Owen is a good punt for this GW. Need a scoring forward to make up for lack of Rooney (who I'm resolutely leaving on bench).
