Roberto Martinez is hopeful on Seamus Coleman ahead of the Swansea trip. Christian Eriksen will be assessed for Spurs, West Ham’s Pedro Obiang is a slight doubt for the trip to City after picking up a knock, whilst Arsene Wenger has yet to decide who starts up front for Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger has conceded that Per Mertesacker is still a doubt for Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea. The Gunners boss went on to say he has yet to decide whether Theo Walcott or Olivier Giroud will lead the line at Stamford Bridge.

Roberto Martinez has delivered a positive update on the hamstring injuries sustained by Seamus Coleman and Mo Besic in the win over Chelsea. The pair are responding well to treatment, with Martinez hopeful they’ll be back on Saturday or in midweek. Bryan Oviedo is also set to return in midweek, while Darron Gibson remains unavailable due to a lack of match fitness.

Pedro Obiang picked up a knock on his ankle in Monday’s win over Newcastle, though Slaven Bilic has since suggested that the midfielder should train ahead of the Etihad trip. Angelo Ogbonna is out for “a week or two weeks” with a hamstring injury, while elsewhere the Hammers will welcome back Adrian after suspension.

Norwich striker Gary Hooper is out for a number of weeks with an ankle injury. The on-loan Andre Wisdom is unavailable to face parent club Liverpool, whilst Lewis Grabban is also back in contention after stepping up his fitness.

Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that Nathan Dyer is ready to play at Stoke, after the winger sustained a head knock in the comeback win over Aston Villa. There are no fresh injury concerns, according to the Italian, with Matty James the only absentee.

Sunderland will be without Duncan Watmore for the trip to Bournemouth, with the forward failing to train having been laid low by illness during the week. In more positive news, Adam Johnson is back in the squad following a shoulder injury, while Steven Fletcher is also in contention after overcoming a knock. Dick Advocaat has confirmed he will retain last week’s 4-2-3-1 formation, with Ola Toivonen expected to tuck in behind Jermain Defoe through the middle.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Mamadou Sakho is in his plans for the home clash with Norwich after impressing against Bordeaux last night. The Reds boss rolled out a 3-4-2-1 formation for the trip to France, finally moving away from the much-criticised 4-3-3 set-up that’s seen the Merseysiders score just three times in the first five Gameweeks.

Garry Monk has revealed he has a fully-fit squad to choose from as Swansea play host to Everton. The Swans boss confirmed that Ki Sung-yeung is available after returning to training – the midfielder flew to South Korea last Saturday for the birth of his first child.

Quique Sanchez Flores has hinted that Ben Watson will step in for the suspended Valon Behrami as Watford travel to Newcastle. The Hornets boss also admitted he’s a little reluctant to fast-track his recent new signings into the starting XI. Discussing the likes of Nathan Ake, Adlene Guedioura, Victor Ibarbo, Obbi Oulare, Alessandro Diamanti and Steven Berghuis, the Spaniard went on to say: “When they are ready, physically and tactically, they are ready to go to the list”.

Mauricio Pochettino rolled out an injury update after Tottenham’s Europa League win last night. The Argentine is optimistic on Ryan Mason’s availability, whilst Christian Eriksen will be assessed and Moussa Dembele remains a doubt. Eric Dier was withdrawn with a knee knock in the 3-1 triumph but is expected to be available.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

I'm planning to get rid of Yoshida(wasn't asured bout Targett's gametime earlier) but this week I already did Huth>Bacuna(some kind of upgrade, huh?) and just can't spend my second FT for another defender switch. I'm gonna save the ft for now but my gut says that Bolasie's haul is coming..

Question from a Joe Gomez owner:

If Brendan Rodgers was to roll out a 3-4-2-1 again at the weekend, do you think Gomez would keep his place in the starting 11, or would Moreno take his place at the left of midfield? I get the impression that Gomez is the better defensive player of the two, but Moreno is better going forward.

What are your thoughts on this?

I'd be surprised if Moreno doesn't come in on the left as a wing back.

Gomez could keep his place and play as one of the 3 CBs. As far as I know he's a CB primarily anyway being played out of position currently

      1. Brehmeren
        • 15 Years

Ah, right. So Lovren could potentially be the one who misses out.

            This, most likely.

I also would not be surprised to see Can in the three man defence again.

Or about most anything from BR.

If Liverpool play 3 CB then it will likely be Skrtel - Lovren - Sakho (this from a Gomez owner too)

      1. Billy Gilmore
        • 13 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

Lovren as the central defender would be an absolute disaster. So yeah that's probably exactly what Rodgers will do

    3. pingreen
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Gomez might keep his place as one of the CB's, but Moreno will play on the left if we go to 3 at the back

    4. Hooky
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Only the Brog knows what's going on in that head of his. If I was to have a guess I would say Moreno would be the LWB if he played that formation and 2 of Gomez, Sakho and Lovren would be at the back with Skrtel.

    5. Billy Gilmore
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

Moreno or one of the wingers won be a certainty on the left. Gomez simply cannot play as a LWB. He has a more than reasonable shout at the RCB spot with Skrtel central and Sakho LCB

I think my Shaw transfer is going to end up being to Francis. Can play him over the next 3 game weeks. Will give me £3m in the bank which I can use to upgrade someone like Huth or Ogbonna next week.

I'm hoping Chelsea will turn things around, some decent fixtures coming up and would like Azpilcueta in the team if clean sheets look likely.

My only concern is too many defensive transfers being used. I'd usually look at someone like Williams but they aren't exactly keeping many clean sheets.

I have Myhill though and don't think I want to double. I'll look into it though. I suppose if Myhill gets dropped I'd already be set up with a WBA defender.

If you don't already have Kol get him. If you don't already have a LIV def get Skrtel.

Francis would be next choice after that though.

Would really appreciate some thoughts on this

    Butland / McCarthy
    Kolarov Azpi Gomez Francis Richards
    Sanchez Pedro Maherz Silva Westwood
    Augero(c) Wilson Diouf

    0 itb , 2 FT

Been thinking to use one transfer and do Pedro --> Cout/Mata/Ayew and leaning towards Cout purely for fixtures, and banking the other transfers, could use the other transfer to get Myhill or Dawson at the back but I think I'm better off saving it..

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Richards Kompany Gomez (Muniesa Shaw)
    Ayew Mahrez Sanchez Pedro (Westwood)
    Aguero Rondon Diouf

    A - Pedro --> YYT/ Silva (-4)

      Thanks Jonty.

And can you consider letting BB come back? The guy adds plenty to the site (while admittedly crossing the line at times).

Is Gomez to be dropped based on anything? Or just non owners speculating?

Think it's been brought about by a formation change last night.

Although it's been said Gomez actually wants to play centre back anyway, so could well play there.

I'm not an owner by the way.

After conceding 6 in their last 2 games it's natural to speculate that there will be changes at the back.

I predict a back 3-4-something, with Gomez taking one of the CB spots and Moreno playing LWB.
