As always on a Friday, we focus our attentions on FantasyBet, as I continue my quest to turn my £100 pot into profit.
For those unfamiliar, the initial player prices and scoring system in Fantasy Bet are very similar to Fantasy Premier League, making it an accessible weekly and daily format for those who pay a lot of attention to the official game.

FantasyBet once again has a £1000 guaranteed pot available for a £5.50 entry fee this Gameweek. For the high rollers, there’s also a £500 game and a £100 Super Sunday contest that both require a £22.00 stake.

There’s also a Sunday game available for a £1.10 fee, with a £75 guaranteed pot, which takes in Spurs against Palace, Liverpool against Norwich and Southampton versus United at St Mary’s. For the flash format this week, there’s a £100 guaranteed game available for £11.00 as well as the regular £50 free-roll.

In the Weekly Shop article I was considering the merits of picking two Manchester City midfielders but with Sergio Aguero earning some midweek minutes against Juventus, I’ve made a team with the Argentine striker and entered it into the £100 free-roll. Given that City host West Ham, I’ve gone for a full quota of their players as the spine of the team, with David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov also both claiming a spot.

Apart from City, the other standout home teams this week are Liverpool and Bournemouth, as they welcome Norwich and Sunderland respectively. Both sides contribute two players in the backline. From the Merseysiders, Nathaniel Clyne and Martin Skrtel get the nod due to their attacking threat. The Cherries raiding right-back Simon Francis is selected for the same reason and is joined by Artur Boruc between the posts. I’ve fully stocked up on assets from those sides – alongside Aguero, I’ve gone with the two strikers mentioned in the Weekly Shop, Christian Benteke and Callum Wilson.

I’ve decided to try a 4-3-3 team this week so needed two players in midfield next to David Silva. The sensational Riyad Mahrez’ form is difficult to overlook, while Scott Sinclair completes the midfield as West Brom visit Villa Park for the midlands derby. I’ve got two more Villa players on the bench in Jordan Amavi and Jack Grealish, while Andre Ayew is the primary reserve as Everton visit the Liberty Stadium.

The Bottom Line

I had a bit more staked than normal last week, with entry fees leaving the pot around £10 down. I went through my picks for the Flash free-roll team last week in this article and it came 8th out of 218 teams, bringing in £1.00. I also won £9.00 for a 17th place finish from the 111 entries in the £1000 guaranteed game. Overall, I start this Gameweek with just under £100.

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – After making some profit in the £1000 game, I’m parting with the £5.50 again. I’m also taking part in both £100 guaranteed games, the ‘Cheap Weekly’ game for £1.10 and the free-roll. I also put a team in the Flash free-roll.

Daily – For Saturday I’ve entered the Double-up contest once again. It’s £3.30 but there’s a £70 pot that’s shared between the players that finish in the top half of entries. Then, for Sunday, I enter the cheap Sunday game for £1.10 aiming to get some of the £75 on offer there.

Stake – £12.10
Current balance – £86.96

FFScout Picks League
I’ve created a £1.10 entry game in which I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget. Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

Having second thoughts doing Pedro -> Coutinho.

Logical move is to do that transfer but I'm not going to keep Cout more then few weeks and it just feels to short sighted.

If Pedro is out for Arsenal game I have Williams or Richards coming from the bench. Altough Coutinho is capable to score double digits.

Feeling the same way, but have 2 FTs and really don't know where to use the 1 transfer as am saving the other!

Definitely keep.. if Pedro is back next week(looks like it) or even this week you'll be kicking yourself. there'll be a far better use for that transfer next week

So you don't expect Coutinho to do much?

I do expect him.. but as a serial football gambler i assure you the odds of him doing VERY well in one week will always be against you. and then you'll want pedro back.. Also, he has to outscore Williams buy 4 points(a FT is worth 4 points too) and the odds of that happening are even worse

You reckon that's also the case even if you had 2 FTs with not much to do?

        Team is:

        Butland McCarthy
        Azpi Kolarov Gomez Francis Richards
        Sanchez Silva Pedro Maherz Westwood
        Augero Diouf Wilson

        Thanks for ur input!

    Kolarov owners, would you prefer:

    A. Kompany fit, therefore more chance of CS and less owners
    B. Kompany out, therefore more owners less of a diff and CS but possibly 4pt hit for owners?

Ah it was just a number to get a league of fairly equal players to see can they re-ignite thier season and have a bit of competition along the way.
        My Rank is 2,334,576.

I had the league at 2.2m originally but a guy who was just over 2.15m was interested in getting in. So I changed it to 2.15m.

  19. pablo discobar

    My team as it stands

    GK Butland
    DEF Kolarov, Richards, Shaw (Clyne)
MID Sanchez, Pedro, De Bruyne, Mahrez
FWD Aguero (C), Gomis, Wilson (VC)

    Subs (Mccarthy), Westwood, Martin, Morgan

So….. Pellegrini has said that Aguero is 100% fit – phew! Also that Nasri has a knock so i`m pretty sure both Aguero and De Bruyne will start. Major headaches avoided there. Going on the captain foresight I will captain Aguero. Job done.

Intrestingly Mourhinhio has said that Pedro is now a doubt, not 100% out (JM: Willian is not even an option, but Pedro, Falcao and Oscar, let’s see what happens)

So I think it makes sense just to do Shaw to Clyne , and if Pedro does not play Westwood comes in.

    Saves doing a -4

Think i`m happy with all that. I was considering Pedro to Shakri as that allowed getting Payet in next week, but may well consider Moses now instead.

    All set!

I thought that generally speaking the perceived words of wisdom were 'form over fixture'?

If we were to follow this view when picking our captain, then Aguero isn't the captain to pick this week, unless we're look way back to last season for his form?

I'm probably going to captain Mahrez for this reason.

although I guess this could be seen as chasing last weeks points too.

It seem that when picking a captain we can pick and choose from any of the following clichés/ FF phrases when it comes to convincing yourself that a certain player is going to smash it this week or not:

Form is temporary, Class is permanent...He'll come good this week I'm sure
Na, I'm not captaining him...you're chasing last weeks points
He's got a tough fixture but he's been scoring points, he's going to keep it going this week
He's due a goal or two and this is his week
He can't keep this form up for ever!
His underlying stats are great, he'll eventually score from one of his 97 shots per game.
    But it's Kolarov

I think I'll pick Mahrez and justify it by telling myself:
he's been scoring points, he's going to keep it going this week

    and ignore the voices saying:
He can't keep this form up for ever!
Na, I'm not captaining him...you're chasing last weeks points

and of course the strongest argument against Mahrez of them all:
    But its not Kolarov!

Good luck with whoever you pick as captain and may this be the week that all our seasons turn from poor/ average (if you're anything like me) to great. Actually I'd settle for half decent at this point!

ah yes, a classic that should be added to the list.

Of course he can, he's Kolarov...I mean Mahrez.

Managers are starting to lose faith in Aguero 1 by 1

I think my self the first time he will lose the captains poll is when he will go mad so i expect about 2 more blanks from him

    Myhill or Butland.

    Williams or Darmian.

Once I solve these, I'm sorted.

Interested to know how you calculate the numbers Doos? I think we look a far better attacking force than Saints this season (demonstrated by us ripping them apart at St Mary's).

I'm not sure how much that was your attacking play and how much it was our defensive frailty. Some of that defending was inexcusable.

Fair enough, but from what I've seen of you this season, you look really toothless. Disheartening as a Mane owner.

What is the general consensus on Coutinho? I saw that Norwich have conceded 21 penalty box shots this season.Does that make Benteke a better player for our fantasy teams?

Liverpool will score, we're incapable of keeping clean sheets but can't see the hammering of the Suarez-days.

1-1 or 2-1 Liverpool for me. Benteke with an assist or goal.

13% - Liverpool have scored 96 goals in 42 top-flight games vs Norwich and Luis Suarez is responsible for 13% of them (12 goals) Missed.

Got 2ft but kind of don't want to get rid of Pedro. Richards -> Evans is the only thing I can think is (barely) worth doing, or should I just do Pedro -> Ayew?

    McCarthy, Butland
    Francis, Kolarov, Nyom, Skrtel, Richards
Pedro, Sanchez, Westwood, Yaya Toure, Mahrez
    Benteke, Aguero, Wilson

I'd wait on Pedro (I have the same issue) and sort out your Keepers. As good as Butland is, Stoke simply don't have good defensive structure under Hughes, especially minus Shawcross.

      Butland >>> Myhill
