The time comes when every Fantasy Football manager has to react quickly to douse some fires in their squad. The problem is, my team is currently a blazing inferno, without a disco in sight.

At least that’s Granville’s opinion. Buoyed from seeing his canny capture of Anthony Martial deliver a brace at St Mary’s, my cocky co-host is quick to dish out a whipping to my ailing lineup.

We discuss the merits of United’s new teenage sensation as part of another round of community questions, served up once again by Jonty. The three of us also ponder the Chelsea revival, David Silva’s fragile ankles and just how our Fantasy Football managerial styles translate to the dog world: a crunch question that’s been brewing unanswered for many episodes.

    In the space of a week it appears I've lost 3 starting defenders. Having already used my transfer Benteke > Martial(c) and with Silva doubtful what would be the best decision to get 11 players playing with this lot baring in mind I'm trying to take as few hits as possible this year.

    McCarthy (Ruddy)
    Kolarov, Francis, Targett, (Gomez) (Muniesa)
    Silva, Payet, Mahrez, Sanchez, (Ayew)
    Kun, Wilson, Martial(c)

    A) Play my all out attack and hope silva plays (if he doesn't I've basically wasted the chip)
    B) Take a hit Gomez > Dawson (hate to do it for a def but over a period of time should be worth it)
    C) do nothing, bench Ayew and hope one of Gomez, Targett or Muniesa get a game

    Any advice greatly appreciated

        yeah it seems a really low value chip. maybe handy if i have most defenders out injured or something, but even still its not that great. for a DGW its also not great because defenders often do well in those too.

        i like your idea around using it at similar times of the wildcard and bench boost. probably the best way to use it. like to wildcard a couple of gameweeks ahead of a DGW, use it the next, then downgrade that attacker and play bench boost. so many risky factors doing that though.

        i might end up just using it randomly just so i dont mess up my team all around that chip 🙂

    Spent some time looking at stats and Leicester's defense is not half as bad as the fpl points say it is .. sigh.. my justification for Schmeichel to Begovic just took a huge dent. That being said i could do Hennessey to Begovic instead and save the drop in 0.1 as an added bonus and keep Schmeichel just incase of an injury to either 😎

        Good. I have him in UFPL and he's a better pick in that than the main game. Lots of key passes and blocks. If he starts getting an assist or two and the odd goal he's gold.
