The time comes when every Fantasy Football manager has to react quickly to douse some fires in their squad. The problem is, my team is currently a blazing inferno, without a disco in sight.

At least that’s Granville’s opinion. Buoyed from seeing his canny capture of Anthony Martial deliver a brace at St Mary’s, my cocky co-host is quick to dish out a whipping to my ailing lineup.

We discuss the merits of United’s new teenage sensation as part of another round of community questions, served up once again by Jonty. The three of us also ponder the Chelsea revival, David Silva’s fragile ankles and just how our Fantasy Football managerial styles translate to the dog world: a crunch question that’s been brewing unanswered for many episodes.

      I don't think anyone could say one over the other conclusively, so maybe do Martial so if he doesn't pan out you can downgrade more easily?

        Thanks, fair enough. Money isn't too much of a concern for me at the moment, so I think maybe I'll just go with Sakho and hope for the best. Only in this situation because I did Pellé --> Benteke (c) last week, which was a disaster, so it can't be any worse!

    - Tied for 7th most PL assists (10). Leader (Fabregas) on 19.
    - Tied for 2nd most PL goals (17). Leader (Toure) on 20.

    Anthony Martial surely is like having an extra chip this season. 9th season and, like many, a rank, awful start. Wildcarded GW6 to at least try & build a little value but after a top 500 finish last season, this season is now all about my cash league. The 'Martial Chip' had to be played (owning Benteke made it easy I confess) but hey, got in early to make at least quick 0.5 I'd guess, captain the fella & hope the gamble pays. I have & will make bigger mistakes than backing a red hot, on form teenager that a premier league accountant could justify a £35 million outlay for. Loving the 'Martial Chip' beats AOA any day!!

        Not always...The gold sometimes lies in relation to the striker...I have a sneaking suspicion he might begin to deliver if he stays ahead...

            Some of the best picks in FPL over the years occupy that advanced wide position ahead of the striker on a regular basis....It's a myth that playing out wide isn't as good as a No10 spot...

            Bale, Wally and a couple of the top picks last season...amongst many others.

            It's something to look out for when looking at avg position maps.

              Yeah, that's the main reason that makes Wally so good FPL option, he plays so extremely high up on the pitch, and with his pace, that's going to mean goal at some point - the only minus is that the team must afford to have one less man in defence and creation, which is probably why he plays so little.

              Is there a way of looking at a player's average position over multiple matches? Been clicking about and can't seem to find that function. Would be very interested to see if Ayew and Mahrez have been occupying this area of the pitch.

                Just go through them game by game for the ones ahead of the striker.

                I did a series last season for a while listing the ones that did it each week and the pts they got...It's a good success rate.

                You soon remember the ones that do it regularly...and by the biggest margin.

                Check the player profile of a player you suspect playing highest up despite being nominally a midfielder. Then see if he appears to play very high up the pitch, and if yes, go and check a few individual matches. You will soon spot the pattern if there is a one.

    I do wonder what fans want. Some fairy godfather to shower billions on the club? Then complain they can't afford the seats.
    I know he isn't perfect but he has spent tens if not a hundred million or more of his own money and bought the club when no one else would touch it.

    Might be time for the club fanatics to grow up a bit or get together, mortgage all their own homes and offer to buy it.

      Fans owning the clubs, like in Germany, is a good idea. Won't happen at Newcastle, though. Nor about anywhere in PL. Too much money poured on it already, no groups of fans could afford to buy the clubs anymore.
